TonyeBarcanista:
I think we all need to be ashamed of ourselves. I have been going through the Yoruba thread and I couldn't help but envy how they are busy promoting the Yoruba nation and her interest. I understand that we are multi-ethnic in the South South but we all need to start promoting ourselves and interests. We have Ikwerres(HopeAtHand), Ogba(Truckpusher), Esan(Erunz, Mogidi etal), Ijaws(Kel4Soft, IzonOwei etal), Urhobos(Goodboiy etal), Itsekiris, Isokos(Philips70 and co), Ibibio(Nigerianvenom etal) etc on this forum. Why can't we emulate the Yorubas and even topple them? Should we continue to play second fiddle in every thing? Or perhaps we expect people outside our region to tal“ about us?

In Nigeria, we have the most problem. Our demand for resource control, maladministration, marginalisation and OIC's instigated ethnic conflict. Lots of issues to be addressed that we MUST address. What becomes of us if we can't front our owÑ interest?

I hope I made sense(PS: This shouldn't be a partisan thread)

Thanks OP for this wonderful thread
yes, this shouldn't be a partisan thread, but can u be objective for once, by saying d truth?

Freemanan:

I Dont think its because of the oil... They have capable substitute for that. I think they need more manpower, width and ground which South south has more than them....

And please, the oil is not "ours".... Its NIGERIA'S

I hear you Sir, but I have my reasons for saying it like that. I understand your need to come off as patriotic especially in delicate matters as this, but the oil is indeed ours, before Nigerians'. Evident of this small truth, is the existence of militants (which we reallllly aren't proud of btw) but who are placated ne'ertheless. These people recognise that if they can successfully pull us away from Nigeria, then they'd have better access to the resources. Else, why would their lead protester in delta state say this to me, "we cannot continue to let Nigerians oppress us when they're busy using our oil"? These people are having delusions that we would go with them and with their level of agitation, they sure are hoping they'd thrive with something that can come with us...oil. Add manpower if you may, but I know what I know.
Oh, maybe I'm getting forgetful or really know nada, but I don't know the many other capable substitutes you say they have that makes you not suspect their tenacity.

Whynotthetruth:

cheesygringrin Don't mind the boy Freemanan: he's having identity crisis...He's a schizophrenic patient claiming philosopher undecided Is ND or SS a defined geographical territory in Nigeria's dictionary otherwise why has it been subject to change by different leaders? Is ND or SS a tribe in which case what's their cultural, language, religious etc homogeneity? ...Is the area referred to as SS today devoid of Igbo communities; so why is it a taboo for IGbo to look for them "estranged" brothers? ...
I've come to realize that the pseudo political analyst cum protection seeker and his cohorts speak for themselves and do not represent the opinion of the ijaws. Was surprised the other when a cross riverine friend of mine told me he's biafra and same goes for his family. I've never taken tonyebarcanista serious on here but sometimes, his assertions need ruthless rejoinders.

For the guy named Freemanan, well, his tribe can't be ascertained and I'm allergic to grin his likes.

TonyeBarcanista is an Ijaw land thief and IGBOS here should stop giving the fool the relevance.
These ijaws should stay away from Oyigbo LGA(ndi oki land) or Egbema and Opobo.
They try to force Ijaw language on Opobos but our Opobo brothers REJECTED the ijaw language.
Ijaws have been REDUCED to minorities in Rivers State.. LOLZ.
they were always minorities since after the creation of bayelsa, because of port Harcourt and igbo abandoned properties they refused to join their kits and kins, now they have come up with a new one oil rivers state, they want to steal some part of rivers state and akwa ibom and form a nation, any tribe or region that discovers oil catches the attention of the ijaws, they tried it with the ilajes of ondo state, very soon if calabar discovers its own oil, they would claim them as ijaws.

what annoys me is even the ijaws trying to divide igbos because of small language differences dont speak the same language, but they all refer to themselves as ijaws but an ijaw would see even an igbo man that speaks same language but from Rivers and they would be using knife to help us cut it, they would call ikwerres igbos only when it suits them, even sometime ago I was reading some comments on Nairaland all these tribal war, and one moniker known as Ijaw citizen was saying ikwerres are ijaws who lost there language to igbos that igbos forced there language on them, some time ago this same land grabbers tried to claim ogoni as ijaw but thankGod they could see beyond there bullshit and land grabbing.

Stop being clever by halves, running away from a simple question doesn't make you smart.

Your comment I quoted was riddled with ignorance, as your dumb assertion has no bearing whatsoever on the issue at hand.

You don't kill a corpse you will also contribute for its burial, it's counterproductive.

Are you now saying we have Igbos in SE only? If you rush to help scrap the 13% derivation, you affect the Igbo speaking communities in Rivers and Delta that have been benefiting from it.

You wouldn't be helping Asaba as a capital city with Ifeanyi Okowa as a governor and PH as a city with Wike as a governor, if you start campaigning for a cause that will result in decreased fund for them to develop those two cities Ndiigbo have big presence in.

The only way SE will be seen campaigning against 13% derivation is if we have finally accepted the falsehood that Igboland started and ended in SE.
SE Ndiigbo wouldn't be endearing ourselves before our Delta and Rivers Igbos who are well represented in Ohanaeze, if we are seen championing for a cause that will rob them of the proceeds from their crude oil in this harsh economic climate. We will only end up alienating them further, and this will not be helpful in our long term vision of uniting all Igbo speaking people under one region.

Let the 13% derivation be, it's to our advantage that it exists, We are doing just fine even with the 13% there, our region is the nearest to those13% states, any excess money they get always end up trickling back to us indirectly, let the North worry about the 13% ish, Ondo is benefiting from it too, so I don't see the Yorubas opposing it any time soon.

on point again
