if u werent admitted in the first batch list its advisable for u to take the DPP form to be on the safer side and if there's another consequent list you have two options

It is a MUST for all ND freshers , if you don't pay, you can't print ur course form and you can't do any registration.
What you can do is, just pay for the hostel and then sell it.

POLYTECHNICS' PT, DPP/DPT, PROGRAM: Clearing all Trailing Misconceptions - Sammyscholar

Good day every one. I have found it crucial and urgent to do justice to the topic at hand given the confusion and commotions that have been trailing the programs for years among students seeking admission into Polytechnics (especially our very own The Polytechnic, Ibadan).

But prior to taking the plunge into this write-up , I think it is necessary I introduce myself. I am sammyscholar, HND2 student of Department of Procurement and Supply Chain Management of the prestigious Polytechnic of Ibadan.

I have read on many online platforms and I have heard during personal discussions with people, statements like: "Part-time students cannot go for service;" "Part-time students cannot apply for direct-entry into Universities;" "the certificate given to part-time students differs to that given to full-time students;" etc. Well, as I am going to fess-up that the first assertion holds true (but can be navigated), I make bold to say that the rest are untrue. Why? Thank you!

To begin with, National Diploma Part-time (PT) program is basically a three years program which could be evening base or weekend base. While the newly introduced Daily Part-time program (DPP) is a program that spans for only two years. DPP students spend the same years with the full time students and they receive lectures together in some schools (The Polytechnic, Ibadan, for example). Nonetheless, the former and the later have one nomenclature in common - they called 'part-time'.

Hence, can they go for service?

I will start by saying that service is only meant for Bsc and HND graduates. That is, those who graduated as full-time students. So, doing PT/DPP program at ND level does not affect your going for service. Just apply for full time at HND level and you will see yourself joining the league of potential corps member.

Can they do direct entry into university?

The answer is an emphatic yes! But, however, you have a part to play; and this has nothing to do with whether your ND program is PT or full time. You must ensure you graduate with a CPGA of no less than 2.1 (second class upper) and 1.1 (distinction) if possible; just to give you a competitive edge (trust me, the competition is colossal). Of course! There are some schools that accept lower, but believe me, such schools are rare. Just try all your best to graduate with upper (at least).

Is the certificate given to the PT students different to that given to their full-time counterparts?

This is a capital NO. To assuage all skepticism, I was once a ND part time student. Upon graduation, I was awarded a certificate that bears no part-time and was in no way differed to that given to my full time counterparts; and all benefits accorded them were also accorded me, and of course today, we are all proud alumni of the ivory tower.

I wish you all best of luck as you proceed in your academic pursuit.

Sammyscholar.

As an HND applicant, the school can not be treating you like a jambite....even a jambite will know that for every interview, screening or clearance, u av to go with all your relevant credentials, it left to them to choose the one they need. Even, job interview, dey expect u to come with all relevant credentials, even if they don't latter demand for it...besides, u can make enquiry from those ahead of you
