The kind of navy short to go with, Please can one make the ones that will need belts?

All they need is navy blue. You can get those with belt, or those that have elastic. Doesn't matter. Just make sure it gives you enough allowance for d race and other physical stuff

Tenderlaw, your pieces of advice on this forum have been wonderful. God bless you. I hope you also made it? My name is there. I give God the praise. It's my first attempt and I'm optimistic that I will succeed at the end. But pls, some clarification is needed here. They say we should come with a set of cutlery. Are we to come with the whole bulk or a piece of each of a set(dinner fork n knife, dessert fork n spoon, soup spoon(not ladle) and bread knife). Thanks.

HaryMis1, you don't need a whole bunch of cutlery. Just take one each of tablespoon, fork, tableknife, and teaspoon. DO NOT take a sharp knife...they will confiscate it at d gate permanently. By d way, d cutlery are just for show; once you get in you can eat as you like usually...until you resume for training.

Pls friends and Naval officers in this thread. I have interest in joining the Nigerian Navy with my O level results. I am tall, healthy, muscular and physically fit. I know how to teach biology and chemistry very well ('cos I have done A-levels) the little problem here is that I am a little short sighted (myopic vision). Can I proceed to collect Navy recruitment form for those with o levels next year? Pls do reply me bosses.

@tender law... Kindly reply!

Hello bro. D medical segment is quite simple...they will check everything. Xray, eye test, urine and blood tests.
First of all, you will be made to take off ALL your clothes. This is where they will check for tattoos, hernia, pile and surgery. Some doctors may check for flatfoot...not all. Flatfoot check is basically visual, there is no instrument for it, so it depends on d doctor u meet.
Like I said earlier, women should start blood tonic now; don't let menses rule you out from anaemia. Once you get to Onne don't just start enjoying suya and fish...it will affect proteins in your urine test.
On d day of d medical, for God's sake shave your armpit and pubes. Don't let doctors there make jest of you publicly. And please wear clean underwear.

Before going for the medical, DON'T RUSH, DON'T RUN. All these will mess with your results.
My people, don't get sick in Onne. You will hear them encouraging you to visit d clinic if you feel sick...but don't try it. Once your name enters that sick book only God can save you into d successful list of candidates. You better swallow your antimalarials before you go.

All in all, pray very well. Disqualification on medical grounds is an area that not even d CNS as your godfather will interfere. Doctors have d final say, so pray and don't phuck it up with your own hands.
All d best.

@tenderlaw..... Pls wats d fitness test like (wats d kilometers for jogging and d likes) and d interview session. Thanks for ur ever truthful info

D fitness test is I 2parts...d race, then others.
D race will begin like a rat race. Everybody will start at d starting line together, pushing and shoving. Don't make d mistake of bursting off with maximum speed. Just take it slow and steady, but keep a good pace. As d race goes on you will see folks slacking off. Keep your pace. One technique is to just keep overtaking one person at a time.
D distance is about 3.5Km. To make it into first cage you should make it in about 15mins. There will be two tally points where you will collect tallies along d route, so don't even think of charging through a short cut.

After d race, you will do press up, sit up and buppee. You have one minute for each of Dem, so do as many as you can without stopping. Once you stop u cannot resume. However, remember that there are THREE exercises. Don't waste all your energy on d first one such that you cannot do d other two. Be wise.
For clarification, buppee us that exercise where, from standing position you place both hands on d ground, then stretch both legs out backwards, then return d legs to folded, then stand up again. This cycle equals 1 buppee. Your target should not be less than 20.
All d best.

For the jogging, I heard its abt 3.2km (2 miles). Personally, I don't know how I can measure the road, so I just jog to the bustop and jog back home. Its kinda far tho cos it takes me abt 15mins. Did it yestday and today.
Oga @tenderlaw cud give us a better insight into it sha.

Thank U Sir, Is 20 really okay or shud one try going beyond dat??
Re: Nigerian Navy Direct Short Service Course Aspirants(dssc) 2015 by tenderlaw(m): 7:53am On Nov 17, 2015
For d interview session, your clothes and canvas/trainer must be impeccable. Very neat. I advice you reserve a new set for that day. A washed one can never look that sweet.

D questions are too many to start talking here...d interviewers have an endless supply of questions so you will hardly be asked what they have already asked someone else.

D best you can do is hope for what you know. And try to answer your own professional area very well.

Be bold but not arrogant. Navy is all about confidence.

When you walk in, move smartly to d center and stop. Greet d head of d board...just say Morning sir. Make it audible. Abeg, DON'T say sirs...there is only one sir there. He is d one in d center of d panel. You cant miss him.

Don't sit until told to do so. When they ask you to sit, you bloody well sit down and don't act as if you want to be loyal by standing up.

After d interview, when asked to go, stand smartly, acknowledge d big man again, and walk out smartly.

When talking, look directly at d particular person that asked you d question. Remember, for this interview, eye contact will be interpreted as confidence, not arrogance. Speak loudly but don't shout.

One other thing, in your professional area, be bold. Even if you know you are saying rubbish, say it with boldness. If your interviewer insists that a particular point you made is wrong, just say, "Request to update myself after this time sir". They will leave you alone, and you will still get your full marks.

All d best.

Don't assume it is far just because it was difficult for you. Download Endomondo to actually check what you are doing. You might be surprised that you are not even doing up to 2Km.

Tell your friend to shave properly. He can't appear at d oral interview looking unkempt. That will amount to failure before exam.

He should just be on lowcut. Skin doesn't matter joor. About the medical, I beg to disagree on girls taking blood tonic. A girl was disqualified because she took blood supplement. So far you arent short blood before and you don't feel dizzy during your period, you don't need a blood tonic. Try and make the 1st, 2nd or 3rd batch. Medical checkups are very imp.

Anonymous, I'm a medical personnel. What you just said is wrong sir.

Modified...
Let everybody do what he/she feels will give Dem success at d end. D value for symptomatic anaemia is around 25%(beginning of very mild symptoms). Normal range for women is 37-47%. I can bet you that they'll not take someone with 28, even though d person had no symptoms.
Anyway, to each his own. Just my own piece of advice.
Re: Nigerian Navy Direct Short Service Course Aspirants(dssc) 2015 by tenderlaw(m): 6:18pm On Nov 17, 2015
For those who decide to take tonics, now is d time. It is not adviceable once you are already in camp. By that time it is already too late, and can give a false impression of blood in your urine. So be properly guided.
