It is not the first time that a New Age has been declared neither will it be the last. Christianity itself is a new age religion, but one from 2000 years ago.

The current new ageism is based on the fact of the precession of the equinoxes.

The tilt of the Earth spins and describes a circle. This circle take 26,000 years to make a revolution. So the Earth's tilt sweeps through a constellation of the zodiac for about 2160 years then it moves into the next sign/constellation.

At the time of the inception of christianity the Earth's tilt had just started sweeping through Pisces. It is now (or has now) doing the same thing through Aquarius.

It is called a precession because it moves in the reverse direction from the sun.

The entry into Aquarius is what is referred to as the New Age. Or some just say the Age of Aquarius.

There have been many movements spawned from this belief that we are now in a new age. Deepak Chopra's career is but one strand of such movements. No doubt there are many charlatans as with everything. But nowhere will you find as many charlatans as you'll find in Christianity. But to be fair christianity has had a 2000 year headstart on the BS inventions.

The current New Age movements have a long way to go to catch up with christianity on the BS-ometer.

My favourite of all christian BS movements is that which led up to the Siege of Munster.
