Dogara shouldn't waste our time. Pass a bill that has a chance of getting signed by the President. The Decentralization of police idea is good. But don't try to strip the President of any of his powers. Nigerians don't want corrupt politicians in charge of our police. 3 Likes |

Dogara Is An Idiot for omitting NASS from the TSA,these idiots which they are, want to monitor expenditures of MDAs but hide NASS' from public eyes and scrutiny. It shows why they are fighting hard against it.PDP do not support dogara and saraki for nothing.kudos to Tinubu and some APC leaders for their foresightedness in identifying the treacherous personalities of dogara and saraki but which wailers are blind to see.but we shall remaind them that power belongs to the people and the president has got our strong supports. In my own opinion i kick against dis move on d premise dt d police IG is also an executive member of d state and his answerable to d C in C of d arm force,by virtue of dis, d president in his constitutional prerogatives has d right to fire and hire him|bt a situation where d removal of IG most goes wit d approval of d sanate, den their is dis tendency of dis obidience and comtempt by d iG to presidency expecially if d iG got senate backing| 1 Like |

I'm so suprise seeing too many comments in opposition to this all important idea. Decentralization of Nigerian Police Force will help in a greater way in ensuring proper security of lives and properties in this nation. I think, this is one of the resolutions of the recently concluded National Conference. |

decentralising the police is a positive step, but definitely has its flaws too, one should note that the security menace of boko haram is a police issue, if community policing could be introduce it would help curb crime from the local level AND enhance vigilance among the populace..... there would be a better relationship and cooperation between the host community and police force, hence curbing crime to its minimum. but my fear is aligned with most Nigerians, won't the state governors usurp the police force and turn them into their private armies, the judiciary is also there, without a concrete judiciary community policing is a null, all arm of government must work in coherence to ensure there is value for Nigerian lives. this legislation should be supported but we should be alert at the modalities and complexity at which it would be formed, due to the fact that Nigerian politicians are not to be trusted wholeheartedly. |

Focus on your job of making laws and oversight. Don't try to do the job of the executive. |

I like dogara. Dogara may be seen as pushing boundaries but in all honesty this is what is obtainable in other/saner climes. Whether this sees the light of day, I do not know but surely, we need to start talking about it. The presidency has way too much powers. Sme of these powers must be taken away sooner rather than later. |

Decentralising the police from a federal force to State police will give governors and locals politicians greater power in the state and will use the police to have their way. The way the federal police is set up today it is very difficult for a governor to control the state CP because he will take orders from zonal AIGs and the IGP and those are not intimidated by any politicians except the presidency. Plus, it is already difficult for most states to maintain a balanced budget or pay salaries how will they manage to provide adequate equipment for the police. We will most likely have a situation where rich states like Lagos or FCT better police security than poorer states. The police has to remain centralised, the problems in the police are internal we have to focus on improving training, recruitment, welfare, and funding. Some countries don't have an army but all have a police force. 3 Likes |
