I had a successful f2a visa interview last week Thursday on Monday my case status was updated to ISSUED
I want to know when to get the notification for the pick up it is 6th day and no sms yet.

Thanks for your quick response. I am aware of the USCIS petition process. I am actually referring to the interview stage at the Lagos Consulate. (assuming the petition is already approved by USCIS). Are VO's required to look at and consider additional evidence presented by the beneficiary during the interview?

The more information you can provide to prove your relationship, the better. There are obviously going to be questions about why you have only met a person once. The point of the interview will be to provide all of the evidence that you have to the VO.

Sir, please am in distress, My interview was successful but i was asked to get the birth certificate from National Population Commission and drop it off at one of the DHL centers together with my passport.

I've gone to NPC and i was told that they don't give birth certificates to individuals above 18years or born before 1992. I am above 18 and was also born before 1992, so they said at NPC that what i'll be issued is an attestation instead. Please is this in order and will the attestation of birth from NPC be accepted by the embassy?

Please again, how many days approximately will It take for the visa to be ready for pick up after I drop off the attestation & my passport as requested? I just want to reshuffle my plans as I don't live in lagos.

My mom have been living in usa since 2011(after winning the visa lottery)..she wants to file for me (I'm 22 and will be 23 march 2016) but I have few questions...

1..how long will the filing process take?

2..how long before I will be called for interview cos I learnt it takes long time for someone over the age of 18(not sure if it's true)

3..if the process will take longer than expected what other legal way can she take to get me there with her..

hello VO. my wife petitioned for me Cr1 we are at the NVC stage. I have two question. 1. my wife is a clinical psychologist with a good pay we talked about asking her mom to stand as a co sponsor just in case we need one. her mom is a widow and retired chef. the govt is paying her as a widow she has her own house. my wife and her mother live alone in the house. my wife has no kid meaning no one is depending on her. can her mom be a co sponsor for us even though she is on a govt salary. second question about the police clearance am about to get one the last vo said its good for a year and you answered someone earlier on here its a s good for 3 months only. in a situation whereby you got an interview after the police certificate expires are we to get a new one cos the police certificate is among the documents nvc is asking for. pls kindly shed more light on that for us intending immigrants. thanks and have a great week ahead.

The legal way for you to immigrate to the United States is by having your mother petition. You can learn more about the process at http://travel.state.gov/.

If your wife requires a joint sponsor, they will need to make enough money to support the intending immigrant (you) so having your mother-in-law as a joint sponsor does nothing to assist you. You just have to meet 125% of the poverty guidelines so she should be fine as a clinical psychologist. The information on the exact amounts that need to be reflected on tax documents is public information.

With regards to the police certificate - if you show up to your interview and it has expired you will just have to get a new one. Not a big deal.

Thanks VO for the answer so you are saying the police certificate after 3 months can't be accepted again at the point of interview? Right now am about to get one for NVC it means i will have to get another if I get my interview later than 3 months from the time I submit my documents to NVC?

I just recently filled my online application for US visa. And I saw 12th December available to schedule an appointment. That day is a Saturday and as a newbie. Never applied for US visa, I picked the date. Now I'm hearing the embassy doesn't open on Saturdays.
How can this be rectified please?

I've always heard that Nigeria does not allow fiance(e)'s to attend visa interviews with the beneficiary. If this is correct, which I believe it is, is there a specific reason for this? Is it just the amount of applicants that come? Is there any way to get an exception to attend?

I read a review once of a story when a beneficiary had shown their fiance and/or spouses passport, showing that they were outside waiting, and the CO asked them to go get the petitioner to congratulate them both.

I would really like to attend with my fiance so I wasn't sure if there were any exceptions made ahead of time?

It depends. The petition process is handled by USCIS and goes faster or slower depending on how quickly you turn in all of the required documents.

I'm so glad that we have a new VO to answer our questions, I won the 2014 dv lottery but my husband visa was denied when they called us for second interview due to the fact that he used different name and date of birth to apply for student visa in 2002 so I came to United states with my daughter we filed a waiver but it was denied and the reason that was explained in the denial notice was that the dv fiscal year has ended.
Now the i-130 has been approved and we are the NVC stage but our priority date is still far, my question now is can we go ahead and file waiver now or we should wait till after his interview?
I need your professional advice please.

It's now been 3 weeks since I turned in my passport at the document collection center in VI for visa stamping (CR1 visa approved Aug 27 but I had to travel for work) and I'm neither certain about the status of my application nor the current location of my passport. I've emailed both Lagos IV and ustraveldocs support but I keep getting the standard "wait" answer. The CEAC tracker (using my IV case number) has been on "READY: Your case is ready for your interview..." since early November; the ustraveldocs passport tracker still says, worryingly, that "There is no status update available for the passport number submitted."

I now fear my passport is missing. What should I do? I've just emailed both ustraveldocs (same answer!) and Lagos IV (fingers crossed) again.

We have a long backlong of responses that we try to get to as quickly as possible... but based on what you wrote it isn't even clear if you have already had an interview or are just waiting for it to be scheduled.

Unless you have already been interviewed, then your visa hasn't been approved, and if you are waiting for interview then the answer is yes - you will have to wait until you are contacted.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. My IV interview was on Aug 27, and the visa was approved. Because I had to travel soon afterwards, I didn't leave my passport behind but turned it in on Oct 28 for visa stamping. Since then, I have not heard back.
