Re: Yoruba Commonwealth and Politics by superduperjay: 2:22am On Nov 20, 2015 |
From my angle I live in ikeja, I have electricity(I admit its more constant than evryone else), I work in ikeja hospital and its probably the only neat hospital in Nigeria( I was taken to luth first but I couldn't stay). Generally life is kind of easier for me sha so if goverment says they took loan to make things better for me I agree. I am sorry I sound selfish. IlekeHD: |

IlekeHD: I like highlife. Just put Victor Olaiya's old hits on, or Bobby Benson's hits or Nico Mbarga's stuff, then add Lagbaja into the mix, and am fine. I also like those old songs by the Lijadu Sisters.... does anyone remember them?? And Christy Essien's "Omo mi seun rere," Victor Uwaifo's "Joromi" Bongos Ikwue's "Still Searching,"and all those songs by Paul Play Dairo, Styl Plus, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti etc.

Love lagbaja and olaiya. "Baby jowo ko gbe mi saya ".... Do you listen to ebenezer obey and Orlando owoh? |
Re: Yoruba Commonwealth and Politics by laudate: 3:51am On Nov 20, 2015 |
IlekeHD: Definitely!! My late grandfather had all the works of Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Dele Abiodun, IK Dairo in addition to his favourite Ewi artistes!! After he died, my cousins and I fought over who would inherit his music collection! |

Shymm3x: Sir Shymm3×, I think this is a very interesting topic and very very important but disturbing question. I have always asked this question whenever people say Yorubas don't excellece in sports than ......you know now, when i know it's not true. Why? We set football as the only benchmark for achievement in sports in Nigeria, whereas we have other sports where Yorubas are doing even better. Nevertheless, We can't ignore or pretend Yoruba's are not doing well in football only in Nigeria. Why? I think we should start with football. Shalom |

May everything you have ever known turn sorrow. You will never smile again. Joy will be far from you and your family members. You are meat for ogun and your blood will be drained by it and your body shared by the gods. You are the definition of ape, and you behave like animals too! You will not know peace if you don't upload ugly pictures daily. Just saw this topic now, but I won't take my comments back, it's too late for you to derail the thread. It must be killing you that your tribe will never have these achievements in 100 lifetimes, and you want to derail the thread. I'm going to follow your sick head to any other thread now. OkaOme: |

forgiveness: We need to be truthful to ourselves. What is sports to a Yorubaman? Where in our history have you read about domination in sports? Lets put things in perspective....amongst the Negro race Yoruba is far advanced in practices demanding cerebral energy than physical energy. Our physiological makeup is tailored for thoughts, observation, reflection and innovation. Ibos are excelling in sports because its in their history and they are physically endowed for it. We need to find our comparative advantage and dominate it....in fact monopolise it for its rewards! Yoruba is world best in Table Tennis. We have consistently dominated Table Tennis in Nigeria and Africa because its a game of calculation and strategy. If Ayo was a international tournament we'd be top rated because it fits in with our makeup - calculation and strategy! Ive been playing snooker and billiards since I was 16, at one time it was my source of income....and I find it muvh more easier to coach a Yoruba person than any other ethnic group because of the ease with which they lock in. Heroism in Yorubaland is perfected throuvh acts of shrewdness and decoy...hiding your play hands from the opponent! Think of the range of sports that need that skillset...physical sports do not make it. Heroism in Iboland is recognized in acts of physical bouts - wrestling! The wrestling champion is the village hero. Hence they are built naturally for physical sports and require zero thought process or calculation to win. Lets give them what belongs to them. Lets find ours and champion it! 2 Likes |

Soccer is not the only sport in Nigeria, and Yoruba don't have to take it all. We pioneered soccer, play in international clubs and still do well in many other sports. Let others have something too! CabbieAC: |
