The arguments on which gender has mastered the act of dishonesty had always raged everywhere. Decades ago it was agreeable that cheating husbands and boyfriends were the cause of marital unhappiness. I remember then when one of the lines a lady whom you are asking out would pop is "hope you are not a player and won't cheat on me". You ability to give correct and concise answers would help your case. Nobody ever questioned a woman's fidelity then. It was assumed men were bad and we all agreed. Fast word to this day and see the paradigm change. Many men believe women are theives and conniving delilahs, many women have even lost their voices in accusing men as it's very glaring how awful they could be. What changed between the past and today. I say it's social media and telecommunications. you see an African woman is naturally passive, meaning she would rather be approached than approach. In the past asides physical connection and slow response love letters, there were no other means of getting in touch with ladies and even the lack of patience displayed by men of today was very abnormal then. To get a lady to go out with you after a year was considered an appropriate time and not too long because in a year you might have ran into her at most ten times no matter how much you try in your stalking. Social media and telephone broke this barrier and thus a lady could be talked up by strangers while in her bedroom. the quest to own phones and other good things that increased access to men's attention became fashionable and thus the era of "buy me blackberry and do to my body as you please" was born. Today it's easy to chat up a married woman and call her my love, my baby and she will respond in kind despite lying on the same bed as her husband. It's easy to engage in sex chats with a lady who is engaged to another man. It's easy to have friends with benefits, it's easy to have girlfriends and it's easy above all to assume the role of MAGA to as many girls as possible all thanks to social media. People like me who met two generations thua Wonders, why we never questioned the fidelity of women nor their faithfulness. we now wonder at our ignorance when we thought ladies don't love sex and will only do it with whom they love, we now wonder at how easy it was to be decieved. I come to a simple conclusion. If you want to be happily married with no fear of your son looking a bit like your landlord or neighbour. Ban most unnecessary social networks from your partner. At least If they still cheat it should be done the old hard style with no fear of seeing your wife's naked pics on nairaland in 2020.

I didn't even bother to read the drab piece, your title and introductory paragraph summarises ur ideology. If you''ve written post graduate exams and defended your research topic before old profs, you would have a better understanding why I can conclude that this ur assertion reeks of Male Chauvinism even without reading it.. What is it now, it's the females who social media has helped? Come to terms with reality broh, if social media has helped anyone in this context, it's the previously shy and 'religious' guys who don't know how to ask a girl out. Weak guys (like the op) who really love to take a piss on the ladies for no just cause. You got it wrong on this one.

I beg to disagree. Asides business reasons tell me why a married woman or man would be so obsessed with social media to the point of not doing away with it if your partner thus requests that.

not at all dear. If your man thinks that would strengthen trust in your relationship, would u find that a very difficult proposition

So in your little shallow mind, you think taking away any form of social media access would be the best option?

First of all, it's impossible to cut off all forms of access to social media from your spouse. How do you intend on doing that? You seize her phone? Deny her access to the internet, by maybe, not giving her data money.
Although all this is logically improbable because she would still find other means to gain access to social media, but in doing so, you would be abusing her emotionally and psychologically, plus you would be denying her the freedom of self expression, and taking from her the joy she derives by doing what she enjoys.

Only a beast in form of a man would subject his spouse to such wickedness.

Infact because of this, I am beginning to question your sanity and overall sense of judgment.

Lets be real. Social media has created so many trust issues and problems in rships. Imagine having a spouse that is so engrossed in social media, its irritating. But then i totally disagree with the solution proffered by the op. I think the best thing is to be open with each other. My girl and I have unfettered access to each other's social media accounts. When i m bored with mine, I enter hers which is normally filled with activities. In fact, I m more active in her social network than her. Another thing is that both of us are busy so we barely have time to play. on social media.

By making such ridiculous suggestion, you left me no choice but to arrive at such deduction about your state of mind, in general.
Whether you find it offensive, is your problem, not mine. I was just airing my honest opinion.

Have a blessed afternoon.

For people with slow understanding. The statement to ban your partner is a pact of mutual understanding eg I remember long time ago when I had issues with my lady then as a result of some of my activities on 2go. We quarrelled and all that. When it was time to settle we both realised that I can't claim to be in a committed relationship while servicing my presence on a dating platform. It made no sense. And this applied to my woman too. Though we used 2go then as a communication medium and really saved on all costs. We still both deleted it and till date I never joined a dating platform again. It's the sacrifices u can make for you partner to build trust if and need be. Social media should be expendable if required in your relationship. That's all my post said cheers

ok now dats better. Infidelity is the subject while female behaviour is subjective and social media objective

I tried to dig deep, find something meaningful to say, but this post gave me a feeling of something trying to push time backwards, so I guess I'll pass on doing the needed.

Of course, not all social media platforms are healthy. But you generalized it in your post
