SA has over 100 indigenous companies and less than 5 foreign owned companies.

Stop misleading people. SAAB bought 70% stake from Grintek, a company which existed in SA many years before SAAB could come to the shores.

Rheinmetall and Denel Munitions (RDM) is a joint venture of 51/49%. Even before that Denel was owning the company (NESCHEM) alone until it decided to sell Reinmetall 51% stake of its Potchefstroom branch which is now renamed RDM.

SA had an indigenous company established in 1987 called THALES ADVANCED ENGINEERING which was an electronic security giant in the country

http://www.dataweek.co.za/article.aspX?pklarticleid=4163

http://www.securitysa.com/news.aspX?pklnewsid=20702

African defence systems Pty Ltd is the SA company which the THALES S.A then Thomson-CSF from France consumed by buying its controlling shares.

http://www.epicos.com/EPCompanyProfileWeb/GeneralInformation.aspx?id=17218

Talking about cars is irrelevant because we all know that SA does not have indigenous brand of automotives.

A killer post for Agaugust.

How can only three foreign companies who bought stakes in existing indigenous companies own 90% SA defence industry. Your claim already failed.

LOL....I thought the Chaka C2 was like a nuclear weapons command and control room in USA grin grin

So na just 2 laptop computers and one telecoms router grin grin

Is that what they say Nigerian army Generals are coming to learn? Have they seen Nigerian army generals doing C2 with the massive network of computers on Nigerian ATR-42 Surveyor and Beechcraft 350ER ? Nothing is SANDF can match our C2 equipment and battlefield surveillance, command and control capabilities, Nigeria leads the whole of Africa in that area of war capability and advanced technology.

1. No, you dont have a military wide datalink
2. No, you dont have military wide intergration of a combat managment system
3. No, you dont have a combat managment system at all.

If you wish to prove otherwise, provide citations.

Chaka C2 is for your army, you are posting air force control room equipment.

See what your army Chaka C2 looks like when deployed on the battle field....

1. Airforce is intergrated into the system as is the Army and Navy - all platforms are intergrated
2. That picture is highly impressive, it shows a mobile Ratel command post that has been intergrated - can you show us such a thing in your army?

You posted a whole air force control room of many kinds of equipment that has NOTHING to do with Chaka c2.

The main purpose of Chaka C2 that we are debating about is AMANI II armies exercise of the AU, did you put a whole air force control room including air traffic control equipment into one MRAP and carried it to the battlefield?

The Chaka C2 in question is the brigade level vehicle mobile unit used for AMANI exercise.....

1. Airforce controll room is intergrated into it

2. Yes, considering that part of the exercise was the co-ordination of a continent wide strategic airlift

3. No, Chaka is intergated at lower levels and not only brigade level

[s]Proforce is posting a photo of their own look-alike of the Cobra under development, the windows and lights are different, true they used a Cobra photo as layout, but no big deal in that.

No copyright issue, the design is not peculiar to Turkey, as Russia has a similar APC design looking like a Cobra.

http://www.army-technology.com/projects/bpm-97-apc/

Turkey actually copied an old Russian year 1950design called BTR-152 http://survincity.com/2011/08/reincarnation-btr-152-bpm-97-the-shot/

Proforce Nigeria is right with that design, or you wanna arrest Russia first for a simple common sense design of BPM-97 APC?

You Southies just wanna accuse Nigeria's 100% owned and fast growing defence industry just because we finally exposed the European ownership of 90% of South African defence industry.

#WRECKED SOUTH AFRICAN ENVY LOADED ARGUMENT.[/s]

1. You posted a picture of a Cobra - which is not built or designed in Nigeria. End of story
2. You cannot in any way compare your pathetic defence industry to ours
3. You have yet to prove your "90% foreign owned" allegation

Surely it is now evident that proforce is still one of those struggling companies as it can be clearly seen by how they are producing their armoured cars using old 1800 method. Go to any plant of Denel and see the kind of technology they are using to produce vehicles. The robots are doing welding and everything.

I was actually about to ask about that. Why is Nigeria's defence industry so backward by still using old outdated primitive snail pace technology of manufacturing armoured vehicles? The world has moved so fast.

When we say Nigerians are intellectually lazy, we mean it and the evidence is in your proforce and your own words. So, do you mean that you take cobra as it is and only change the front screen to a square because you can't even cut out the same shape of original cobra wind screen. It will prove difficult to your technicians. The square is a lot easier isn't? If you had the skills you would have copied it exactly the way it is, but now because the front will prove difficult for proforce, they had to change it to simple shape.

Have you even considered that square wind screen will make driving very uncomfortable especially when you will have to look to the sides. The shape will surely have to slung to the sides and that is not negotiable because I study engineering.
