The SE governors should discuss with president Buhari on the possibility of having a seaport in the SE. We can explore the possibility of building one at Obuaku in Abia state or Onitsha through the river niger.

Where this is not possible, Ibaka seaport at Akwa Ibom should be built. I read that if that seaport is built, it will be the deepest in the country capable of berthing large ocean liners. Though Akwa Ibom is in the Niger Delta, it share a boundary with the SE and the positive impact of building Ibaka seaport will be greatly felt in the SE.

On another note, Buhari should please complete the 2nd Niger bridge which the weak ijaw Jonathan failed to do.

Okay. But you must note that within the last 45 years the powers that be deliberately refused to implement three Rs of reconciliation, rehabilitation and reconstruction meant to rebuild the Eastern region but chose to divert same to other regions.

Therefore, on that premise this your idea cannot be more important than the quest for a separate existence.

And to be specific, this your tactic is more or less diversionary...

Ndigbo wholly reject Buhari.

Ndigbo are first to set an agenda for Buhari.

Does that seem normal to you?

The politics and beuraucracy that has accompanied seaport in the SE/SS is mind boggling, worse is the fact that the contract was given to atiku abubakar's intel company.
Re: Seaport In The South East by PassingShot(m): 8:24am On Nov 23, 2015
Honestly speaking, the president should ordinarily be considering these. However, given how the SE has shown their hatred for him, if I were the president, I will not do the region any favors but will not deny it any rights. I would work to complete the 2nd Niger Bridge, the South East road and a few other FG roads BUT no new projects such as a seaport for the region. SE cannot resort to blackmailing the entire country.

Don't generalise on Ndiigbo. I personally believe that the hatred for Buhari by some of my people is baseless. Buhari saw the Igbo as his first choice when he wanted to be president again. He selected our own Chuba Okadigbo and the second time he still came to us by selecting Edwin Ume Ezeoke.

A man's first choice says a lot about what is in his heart. Just like when you notice a girl you want to marry and approach her, you will only marry another girl when your first approach fails.

I don't know why my people are so myopic and quick to forget.

Anyway, Buhari is the president of Nigeria including Igboland. I personally think he could deal a fatal blow to pro Biafra agitators by say completing the 2nd niger bridge which Jonathan failed to do after all his promises.

Igbos do a lot of importation. We are also praying the Aba can develope to the point of exporting manufactured goods now imagine what would happen if Buhari gives us a seaport.

Igbos don't really care about oyel like most people think, what we really want is a seaport.

But if they threaten to leave to form a sovereign nation where they can provide such FG project without asking. Hell lose.. You hate them but don't want them to leave: Sounds crazy.

Lying propagandist, did the enormous hatred displayed by the Northerners prevent GEJ from concentrating most of his projects in the North and the Northerners occupying sensitive and important positions?

Diversionary in what way please? If Buhari builds a seaport in the SE and completes the 2nd niger bridge wouldn't that be an A+ for him?

I just cannot understand why everything must come in from Apapa Lagos for a country as big as Nigeria. It's not like Lagos is the only place where we have a water line.

I completely understand, unfortunately your view makes you a minority among your ilk, and you will be judged based on your collective choices and behavior.

The fact remains that the SE voted itself out of relevance in this government and you lack sufficient, influential and strategic representatives in the executive and legislature to make such projects see the light of day. Your people will have to aggressively and diplomatically market themselves to key members of the ruling party to make your wishes even remotely possible.

If you ask me, I'd say take it a step at a time. A lot of damage has been done by the SE during this election period and only true repentance and reconciliation will catalyze the healing. Focus on building bridges and you will earn the political leverage to get those projects done.
