zimoni: E kaaro egbon mi, me le binu sihin rara. Most folks believe Odudywa came with the crown, a wrong notion if you ask me. Obatala owns/owned the crown, Oduduwa and Obatala engaged in a face off, Oduduwa won and as a result seized the crown and exiled Obatala to the depths of Mokuro, former Ugbo settlement. The crown was kept away in the palace and unused until after Oduduwa, it became the object of coronation and spiritual fortification for the Ooni. Where Oduduwa came from and many other details about him remain a secret to the Oduduwa adherents/house in Ife but for me, he came from one of the 13 hamlets in Ife to usurp power, unify into an entity and set up a central administration system - an ambitious guy. If he was out of town then how would he have been able to communicate or even convince the likes of Obameri, an Ife man to join his team against Obatala? Plus, he would have left an Arabian imprint on the system. I believe there is a reason his adherents/house look to Oke-Ora but they won't give details Yes, the chain is at the compound but I've never seen it. There are certain off limits for my family and their family - getting to each other's compounds itself requires not sitting in some places or taking one's leave when some processions start; the ewos are so many and na due to the beef since Obatala and Oduduwa period. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Ondo, Korean firm to commence construction of 1050MW IPP •TCN issues evacuation approval Work is set to start on the first phase of Ondo State’s proposed 1050 mega watts Independent Power Project, as the Mimiko administration sealed a Memorandum of Understanding with POSCO E & C of South Korea for the engineering, procurement and construction of the facility. POSCO E & C is to handle the design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and testing of the 550MW first phase open cycle gas turbine power plant. Actual construction is expected to commence in first quarter 2016 and would take about 26 months from commencement and date of issuing the notice to proceed. The state government is currently partnering Kingline Development Company, a South Korean Company, through its Nigerian subsidiary, Kingline Development Nigerian Ltd, for the development of the Independent Power Project (IPP). The first phase of the project involves the construction of a gas-fired power plant that will generate 550 MW of electricity to be sold into the national grid. The second phase is expected to add another 500 MW. Already, a special purpose vehicle, called Kingline Ondo IPP Ltd, has been registered to implement the power generation project, officials said in a statement at the weekend. Head of Kingline Development in Nigeria, Fola Akinnola said in Abuja at the weekend that funding had been secured for the project, stressing that the contract was signed recently at POSCO E & C’s headquarters in Inchon, Seoul, South Korea. Among other progress reports, he noted that Certificate of Occupancy had already been issued by Ondo State government in October for the project, with the environmental impact assessment panel review, scheduled for end of November. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/11/ondo-korean-firm-to-commence-construction-of-1050mw-ipp/ |

Ogun introduces customer-friendly approach to industrialization The Ogun State Government is set to adopt a customer-friendly approach to further aid its Urban Renewal and Industrialization drive. The State Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, Bashorun Adebola Adeife who disclosed this in Abeokuta during a familiarization tour to Abeokuta Central and East Zonal Planning Offices, said the reason for adopting the approach was targeted at attracting more intending investors and builders so as to benefit from the urban renewal and industrialization policy of the Amosun-led administration. He noted that the State Government had declared Zero tolerance to illegalities where necessary building permit and approval were not properly obtained according to laid down rules and regulations. “We want to introduce a Customer-Friendly Approach to our job, we want to be closer to our people in order to further open the State for more projects. Government has declared Zero-tolerance to anyone or group that construct without the required permit from Government”. Adeife said. Lagos unfolds plans to build world-class park in Ibeju-Lekki The Lagos State Government will next year, commence work on the construction of a Metropolitan Park on a 5-hectares parcel of land at Ayeteju in Ibeju-Lekki, along the Lekki-Ajah expressway. The proposed recreational park will serve the people of Lekki, Ajah, Ibeju, Epe and its environs. When completed, it will be the biggest publicly -owned park in sub-Saharan Africa, and will feature a mini zoo, playing area of children, fitness centre, multipurpose game court, and other features. Governor Akinwunmi Ambode disclosed this last week at the maiden edition of Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency, LASPARK, Greening Stakeholders’ Forum with the Private Sector . The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tunji Bello, called on the private sector to partner with the state government in the continued campaign for environmental regeneration and sustainability, through the building of more parks and gardens across the state. He noted that the idea of setting-up parks and gardens all over the state is as a result of the Green Lagos agenda. At the event themed: Sustaining Our Green Lagos, Ambode,, disclosed that the state government had in the last eight years, set-up no fewer than 300 parks and gardens across the state. This effort, he said, has created over 97, 000 jobs. The governor affirmed that collaborating with the private sector on this initiative would further create more jobs for the unemployed in the state. “All over the world, the issue of environmental degradation and the consequent threat to mankind has been of great concern to all stakeholders; government, corporate bodies, non-governmental organisations, religious bodies, as well as environmentalists. The Lagos State Government has invested a lot in creating and maintaining these parks and gardens. This greening initiative by the state government is capital intensive and to sustain it, funding has to be sourced from other sources,”Ambode said:. Governor Ambode, urged the private sector to step up and join the state government to sustain a greener Lagos. According to him, areas like the Adeniji Adele loop at Third Mainland Bridge; Oshodi under Bridge; Ile-Zik along Agege Motor Way; Sure-P site, Tollgate, Iyana Oworo at Oworosoki; Apakun under Bridge along Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, among others, have been transformed to beautiful parks and are now places of relaxation, family retreats, reunions, children excursions and places for individual relaxation and renewal. Earlier, the State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Babatunde Adejare commended LASPARK for putting up the programme. He stressed the need for collaboration between the state government and private sector for effective greenery of the state’s urban space. Adejare said: “We can build and share knowledge around emerging green infrastructure as well as technologies and policy issues. Also, we can jointly facilitate shared ideas on how to encourage adoption of green infrastructure technologies in the state. Green business is a smart business. Going green provides a bottom-line cost savings, as well as competitive advantage in the market place. We must realise that the issues of environment involve promoting the general well-being of the citizenry. It is therefore of utmost importance that we ensure private sector engagement and partnership at all time,” he said. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/lagos-unfolds-plans-to-build-world-class-park-in-ibeju-lekki/ |

Ogun state gets new radio station A non serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Gbenga Obadara, who represented Ogun Central Senatorial District under the platform of SDP during the 7th legislature has opened a new private radio station in the state. All is now set for the on air commencement of the private radio station located within the heart of Abeokuta. The newly completed radio station has been undergoing test transmission since 20 November. The new station named ‘Sweet FM’, will be transmitting on the frequency of 107.1FM band. The station is situated within the popular Ibara Housing Estate, Abeokuta, the state capital. Findings revealed that the station, which is the second private radio station in the state, will fully come on air by 1 December, 2015. Investigation revealed that a lot of programmes being aired on an existing radio station in the town have now been taken to the new radio station. A member of the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) in the state, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the new radio station arrived at a very good time when they were having some crisis with the management of the existing radio station. There has been crisis between the management of the Radio Nigeria, Abeokuta (Paramount FM) and FIBAN in the state and the station is like home station for most of the presenters in the state. The presenters stopped airing their programmes on the station in the last one month before the station itself went off air since about two weeks ago due to a faulty transmitter. Our correspondent reliably gathered that the Odeda-born former federal lawmaker commenced work on the radio station as requested by the FIBAN members due to his close and cordial relationship with the association. With the birth of the new radio station in few days to come, Ogun State is now having four radio stations. One is owned by the Federal Government, Paramount 94.5 FM; the second one is the state owned, OGBC 2 90.5FM and the third one, Rockcity 101.9FM owned by a veteran journalist and a former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in the state under Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Mr Niran Malaolu. The newest in town now is Sweet 107.1FM which will commence full transmission on Tuesday, 1 December, 2015. http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/11/24/obadara-opens-new-radio-station/ |
