Hey Guys , please Justwise, Newbie715, ToyinNick, Portsmouth86 i'm actually calling this names because i have seen you guys have either encountered or shared in the part 2 thread. I am in nigeria and my wife is a brithish citizen, i am wanting to apply for a settlement visa on the 30th of Nov, and i have a few questions (as most people here have been doing). Please, 1. Are the documents submitted at TSL just Passport, TB test result and do the Bio-metric or do i have to submit all my supporting documents along side like my conversations (skype, whattsapp, phone logs, emails, photos), gifts(cash/otherwise), proof of accommodation in the UK, Appendix 2 form(scanned), payslips from my office(naija), bank statements (naija), marriage certificate (please feel free to enlighten me on what documents to send either ways) 2. Are the documents they the same with the once's my Wife would send to Sheffield?? 3. Do i have to scan/send my TB results before she sends her documents to Sheffield?? 2 Likes |

mfonox: I really wished you had sought opinion here before you sent in your application. I also was involved in monthly contribution but based on all the advices i gathered from here, i took to explain it in my cover letter to the ECO. I sincerely believe every inflow and possiby outflow that the ECO may find questionable should be explained. My wife felt my cover letter was too explanatory but i would rather be too explanatory and get the visa (which i did) than withhold explanations and have my visa refused. See my cover letter below, you may find the content useful in drafting your own cover letter whily appealing or re-applying. You may also need to get some sort of agrrement drafted by a lawyer with names and signatures of all the people that were part of the monthly contribution scheme. The Entry Clearance Officer The Deputy British High Commission 11, Walter Carrington Crescent Victoria Island Lagos. Dear Sir, GENERAL VISITORS’ VISA: I hereby apply for a UK general visitor’s visa (valid up to 6 months) to enable me spend a time of vacation with my wife (xxxxx) in the United Kingdom. I am currently employed as a full time staff of xxxxxxx Lagos in the capacity of xxxxxxxx. During my stay in the United Kingdom for two weeks, I will be staying with my wife at The Crystal Lodge Hotel, 49 Brigstock Road, Thornton Heath, CR7 7JH, United Kingdom, +447872969494.We plan to visit notable places like the Buckingham palace, the London Bridge, Emirates Stadium, 02 Arena and other tourist sites during our stay. The vacation will definitely provide a good get away experience for us. I find it necessary to provide the following additional information: 1. My immediate family (my wife, my daughter and I since my son was not born yet at that time) had a change of surname in 2012; please find enclosed sworn affidavit and newspaper publication to that effect. 2. My former passport which was issued on 09 Feb, 2011 and which should expire on Feb 08, 2016 has been retained by the Nigeria Immigration Service, National Headquarters Abuja on issuance of a new one to me when I applied for a change of name on the passport. It is considered wrong to release two unexpired passports to me bearing different surname. Please find a photocopy of the old passport in this application. 3. Our Children (xxxxxx) will be taken care of by my mother when we are away in the United Kingdom. 4. My Salary figure for June 2015 as reflected on both the Pay slip and the Bank Statement of Account is higher than the figure for every other month because my leave allowance for the year (N100, 598.50) was paid with the salary. Narrations on the pay slip also reveals this 5. A credit of N158,738.31 that reflects in my account as being paid on July 27, 2015 was the Staff bonus I received for the company’s performance in the previous financial year which ended on March 31, 2015. Copy of the mails sent to all Staff by the CEO of my company with regards to the performance bonus for staff is also included in this application. It is also stated in my employment letter that I am entitled to a yearly performance bonus. 6. A cash payment of N200, 000 which came into my account on 30th April from one Bleep (a friend of mine) from Union Bank was paid by in to my account because the depositor needed to transfer the money to one xxxxx who has an account with GT Bank. He however could not transfer the money directly to her because his internet banking profile restricts him from transferring to accounts in other Banks. He can only do intra-bank transfer within Union Bank. I therefore offered to help him transfer the fund from my Union Bank (on receipt of same in my account) to xxxxx GT Bank account. This I did on same day. 7. Payment of N27, 210 on August 13, 2015 and N5088.25 on September 28 were Sales incentives for businesses referred to the Sales Team by me. My employment offer letter states that I am entitled to such. 8. Debits of N200, 000 each from my account on 31st March and 29th April, 2015 were in respect of a monthly contribution scheme I was involved in. xxxxx (whose account the payment were made into) was the coordinator of the scheme which ended by the end of April. Kindly find enclosed all relevant documents for this application. I trust that you will find that everything is in order and I assure you that I will return back to my work and family at the end of my two weeks visit. For questions, clarification and interview, please feel free to contact me anytime. Yours Sincerely, xxxxxxxx 8 Likes 1 Share |

Thanks a lot funlover1. I wish I found this forum too. The truth is I don't know if I can get a lawyer to draft an agreement for the people involved as I only really know about one or 2 of them. The coordinator is my landlord. Do u think d option of issuing receipts is OK? I'll be sure to do a detailed cover letter this time. Thank u |

Benjamite01:Hiya Benjamite01, You already have what you need, like someone advised, add the marriage cert. Personally I believe in cover letters, I think it summarises things so I'd also advice you do a cover letter in addition to your application form, stating that you require a visit visa and what you intend to do when you get there, write briefly on the inflow that come into your account apart from your salary, just state that apart from your monthly salary, you also receive additional payment into your account from family and friends if you wish. Also write briefly about your refusals and reasons for refusal. Fingers crossed you'd get it this time. Best of luck Just an after thought, does your company give embassy reference letter to staff? It's a nice to have if they give. Cheers |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by newbie715: 1:02am On Nov 26, 2015 |
Benjamite01: Ok, as regards the refusal reasons by the ECO: to put my conclusions mildly that is assuming you did not present false documents and you told no lies 1. what's the deal as per your job in particular. Are you still working for the company you were working for then? If yes, it's a bit suspicious when companies use yahoo or Gmail as official email. If you have moved to a new job, I hope the new company has a proper email address on the letters you have from them. Also I asked before if your company gives embassy reference letter, if yes, can they give you one stating you have indicated interest in travelling to the UK during your vacation and they should accord you all necessary help with functional phone numbers on the letter head paper. 2. Your salary, is it cash payment into your account or transfers, cos they look out for that as well. Transfers are better. 3. The person whose graduation you are going for, I hope you made available a reachable phone number for him. On a general note, it's not that the marriage certificate is required for the application, it's just help the application to state you are married and have family in Nigeria. Is it possible to get another one? I assume you did registry, you can get a certified copy from the registry. I am not sure an affidavit will do much in place of the real certificate. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Nobody: 8:04am On Nov 26, 2015 |
Benjamite01 Why did you get a new passport in April 2015 when your old passport was still valid till 2016. You can not have 2 valid passports at the same time Which immigration office issued a new passport for you when you still had One year validity on a current passport. I hope you did not present false details 2 Likes |

Hello everyone I want to apply for uk visa for Xmas vacation pls how can I make hotel reservation and how can I write intinary? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by FrontPageLawyer(m): 8:29am On Nov 26, 2015 |
Benjamite01: The entry clearance officer's decision to refuse you entry justifies my suspicion. If you want to visit a family member in the UK who is not a close relation e.g. spouse, civil partner, father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister, grandfather, grandmother, grandson or granddaughter, you should apply for a standard visitor visa and use a hotel reservation instead of your cousin's contact which ruined your application. This is considered as no ties to the UK. The ECO was also not satisfied with your job ties and financial circumstances in Nigeria which is justifiable to refuse your application. It is not enough reason to submit pay slips and bank statements which are not from a verifiable source regardless of the closing balance. All cash in flow into your account must be from a verifiable source which can be explained in your application with paper evidence, reason it is advisable you separate your salary account from business/other accounts. The ECO did not mention your family ties to Nigeria not because he/she didn't take cognisance or took it into consideration, but because they were other ineluctably reasons to refuse your application. If your marriage is legally constituted, you should get a certified copy of your marriage certificate from the registry with a sworn affidavit from the court. Also get a sworn affidavit for your children's birth certificate. This should be attached to your application and explained in the cover letter should questions arise which you won't be present to defend. |

Hello Everyone, Myself and a colleague at work recently applied for a business visitor visa to attend a 5 day training using my employers' details as they are sponsoring the trip. We filled separate forms but submitted together. My colleague actually travelled to the UK last year on a business visit and stayed at a friends place during the trip. He did not overstay or have any complications. I on the other hand have not applied for a UK visa before. However, the twist is I was actually born in the UK after 1983 and I've never applied for any visa or document since leaving the UK at just a few months old. So to the point now. We received emails at the same time yesterday that a decision has been made and we should expect our passports in 3-5 days. We decided to contact the training company to find out if they were contacted by the home office and the said they were not contacted. My colleague also called his friend that he stayed with the last time and he told him he was not contacted. My question is if it is possible for the visa to be issued without contacting the inviter? My colleague believes this is the case since his friend was already contacted the last time. Pls advice |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by aibisoye: 9:45am On Nov 26, 2015 |
It is not mandatory for them to contact the company that invited you. If they have any doubts regarding your true intentions to the UK, then they can contact. I was also born in the UK after '83. I have always claimed born and bred in Lagos. I hope you didnt include your UK birth certificates because that one na gbese. They will just refuse you. lloyd1000: |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Nobody: 1:37pm On Nov 26, 2015 |
aibisoye: How is that gbese? As long as you have the birth certificates, which you still trace in the Uk you are entitled to citizenship. They will not refuse for that. It was pre1983. I know at least 10 people who legally migrated in fact it was during their visa interviews they were advised to change their visa category to the right one. |

Hello everyone... I'd like to say that Santa came early for me... to the glory of God, I have just gotten my passport stamped with multiple entries for EEA family permit visa... Three things shall I always remember in the month of November every year now... My Birthday, my Wedding Anniversary and the month I got my EEA FP visa. I asked God for a this Visa to be my Birthday gift for this year, and He gave it to me to wish me a belated birthday... ... he answers our prayers.. My special thanks go to @Justwise,for his immense tolerance and patience on attending to every concern or questions raised by Visa seekers, especially when the same question is asked over and over again bros, you are too much...I pray that the Almighty God bless and favour you always.. Thanks to @Portsmouth86 for your assistance, I trust and believe that your own visa application shall also end in praise.. everyday when I wake up, I say to myself, " this shall end in praise...I shall not be rejected,i shall be accepted" I even turned it into a song lol.. @newbie715,thanks for calming my nerves when I needed it most ans for crossing toes Nd fingers with me...may God bless you.. and for other gurus, thanks so much everyone for all your contributions and invaluable pieces of information which has been so helpful... I got my visa in just three weeks, and I must say, these three weeks seemed like three centuries...I have never been this nervous and anxious before in my life, apart from the first time I got on a plane many years ago...lol... this wait is truly emotionally draining...now I can only imagine what people who have to wait for many months to get a decision go through... phewww! My timelime: 28th October - Online Application on the My visa was free of charge because am an EEA family member. No IHS fee too. ..Alsocollected my TB test result which was done on the 27th of October 2nd November - Appointment day/ Biometrics done, I wasn't interviewed on this day...all my documents were collected from me. 4th November - I missed a call from Abuja BHC. 5th November - I got a call from Abuja BHC and a very short interview was conducted. Luckily, when I was asked on the phone when last I saw my husband, I tokd the lady he was in the country at that time, so she asked for his number and I gave him, then my husband was called a couple of minutes after I was called and was also interviewed . 16th November - I got an email from Admin Review Abuja saying my application was a non-straightforward one and would take more days than it normally would have taken for my application to be processed... I wont lie guys, I was so panicky... nervous and wondered what the email meant but my nerves were calmed by@Justwise, @Portsmouth and @Newbie that it was a standard email sent to applicants to let them know they wouldn't meet up with the stipulated processing time. 20th November - a call was made at my husband's place of work. His Director picked and he was asked if my husband had resumed work, he replied in the affirmative and asked the caller if he wished to speak to my husband, the caller said no, and the call ended. 24th November - I received two emails, the first one informed me that a decision has been made and my passport and documents would soon be dispatched. Second mail came 25 minutes later saying my passport and documents were ready for collection. I wasn't in Abuja that day so I had to make my way back to Abuja the following day.i arrived on the 25th but decided to go to TLScontact office the following day. 26th November(today)- I went to TLScontact and my passport and all supporting documents were given to me. And inside my passport sits the Visa, issued on the 19th of November. I am so happy. Hubby has already started looking for a flight for me. Can't wait to spend this Christmas season with hubby. When I got the decision made email and noticed that the same GWF reference number given to me during application was the same one in the emails... I became sad and concluded that the visa has been denied...because I have read here how some people said that if u don't get a new reference number on the decision email, it means you have been denied... well, that seems not to be the case with mine. I pray that for everyone who is waiting for a decision to be made on their visa application, that you all shall receive positive decisions. I wish you all the best of luck and God's favour. For those intending to apply, if you follow the guidelines laid in this great forum, I promise you, you can never go wrong. Thanks everyone once again. 3 Likes |

I want to join him there but am not presently working though i have an external sponsor to sponsor the trip because my husband did not meet up to the financial requirement stipulated by the UK. Please, what type of visa would you advise me to apply for and documents I would need? Thanks for your candid review and response. |
