I have observed on many occasions where people fill in different things (names) in the column for mothers' maiden names both in the executive and academic environment.

Mothers' maiden name is usually required when filling forms that require your personal details

I have been using my mother's surname before marriage as her maiden name but i have seen some others use the following...............

Mother's second name.....mostly her native name
Mothers full name
Mothers full name using husbands surname
Mother's English name

I need someone to help out as google self compounded my problem by giving me conflicting results.

I use anyone i remember provided is her name

Maidens name is; is her father's name before marriage altered her Original birth name!

The surname before she got married. Had to fill that while renewing my passport at the Nigerian High Commission.

Initially i do use her first name, but i think its her surname before she got married, thats what i use now

101% sure. I've never made the mistake of using other names, some documents also requires mother middle name.
