Babe come I hardly comment on threads on Nairaland, but this your story has got me hooked. And I don't think I can wait to tomorrow.

Please come and finish it. Because you are practically telling my story, although mine wasnt in school, its long story, too.

I have been looking for a way to tell people the story too. But I can't seem to communicate it properly and pass the message to them emotionally and you are just doing that now,

Pls just continue please,

LAST Bullet: whether you are telling a fiction, true life story.. I promise you things are going to turn out fine for you.

And to the doubting thomases, there are millions of youths suffering like this here in Nigeria and I can testify to it.

Just please everybody learn from this and always give a helping hand.
I was once in her shoes too, I understand her plight. I have my own story to tell someday.

Monday arrived sooner than I wanted. I felt I needed to recover fully from the trauma of the previous week but I was yet grateful.
Rita had given me some of her clothes, told me I could wear any of her shoes that fits, and oh I forgot to add that I was a good stylist. I made Rita's hair, a friend of her's also had her hair styled by me that Sunday after church service and I was paid for the services rendered.
Hopefully that Monday I didn't attend classes, the only one I was supposed to attend was cancelled and reschedule for another day of that week by the course lecturer. As soon as everyone had waited for the lecturer for thirty minutes, the class rep passed the information, the whole class dispersed, went to their various destination while I headed straight to a nearby beauty salon.
Tuesday was here, I was in class, sitting on the first row as usual, fluttering my eye lashes and waiting for someone...
I knew I was really looking beautiful on this particular day. My hair, clothes and shoes given to me by Rita looked nice on me.
That Tuesday, before I went for classes, I looked into the mirror, smiled when I saw my reflection and marvelled at how beautiful I was.
It was fifteen minutes into the class and i was still looking over my shoulders expecting to see Andy. The first class ended and we had another class that afternoon but Andy never came.
I wanted Andy to see me that day, I wanted his compliments, I wanted him to stare at me while we received lectures, I sincerely wanted to put him in a confused state, I wouldn't deny that fact but Andy never showed up and I was very disappointed.
That week was gone, the following week arrived and finally Andy was in class. This time, I made sure we exchanged mobile phone numbers. I got compliments on my looks from him but of course I wasn't flattered, I already had enough from admirers so his mattered less to me.
Weeks ran fast, months faster while I was busy attending lectures, fellowships and rehearsals with Rita(she made sure I did even if 85% of the time I wasn't willing to go but I made sure she didn't notice). I later realised Rita didn't like cooking so I would cook, clean and make everything and everywhere in the apartment tidy. Rita made me her personal hair stylist, introduced me to few of her friends who wanted a stylist as well. Everything was going on smoothly for me, I was making cool cash from Rita and her friends and the only reason I called home was to know how my family was faring. My parents never bothered to ask how I was coping but I cared less.
The First semester of my first year in the university came to an end and I was the happiest person on earth........

Rita's apartment was beautiful, it wasn't in the campus as I had guessed. The one room bedroom apartment with kitchen and bathroom was very comfortable for a student. It had everything that a student would need. I fell in love with the big mattress in the room at first sight, there was a reading table and chair, flat screen TV on the wall, stereo, speakers, the floor was neatly tiled, beautiful wallpapers and some of her pictures decorated the wall.
Rita's kitchen was a replica of herself, Very neat and airy. it had all the kitchen utensils one would need, everything was in place. The bathroom with pink wall tiles was neat too, she had different kinds of showering gels, body cream, from moisturising cream to toning and a lot of other items I can not think of now. Everything was in place as they ought to be and she seemed to have all she would ever need in this room I thought. 'this is how I should be living my life' I said to myself.
That Saturday morning after having my bath thoroughly for the first time in that week, I had a good sleep for the first time in that week. I slept like a baby and woke up in the evening before six and everything seemed perfect.
Rita and I chatted happily like the teenagers that we were, as she served the beans and fried plantain for dinner. A second glance at the food and i was so happy.
Rita never asked me those questions I saw in her questions eyes till date and I was glad. Although I was reasonable enough to give her an explanation to hold on to.
All through that Saturday I was indoor, eating, chatting and sleeping.
My vision had cleared totally that evening after dinner as I laid on the bed, on my back, staring at the fan blowing and for the first time in that week I was at peace with life....

Oh baby!!! Pls you have to complete this story o. This story needs to get beyond this level so that some lazy parents will seek for better financial solutions.

I can't imagine my daughter suffering like this.

@ OP, thanks for sharing your story that I believe is largely true seeing you just signed up to open this thread.

However, this raises a very SALIENT issue for us as Nigerians and our urge to "be on campus" at all costs as if there are no other, even better route to career success than the university!
If we have limited financial resources why do we not go to a vocational and/or technical school/college to acquire needed SKILLS that can earn us a good pay or we can open a business/workshop/company providing excellent, quality services to clients?
Why not, if not

Updated:
Those who still feel the urge to pursue ACADEMIC studies in university after acquiring skills and earning good money to finance their studies can still continue on that path.
Cheers!
