Forty four ships laden with foods, general cargoes and petroleum products are expected at the Lagos ports from Nov. 26 to Dec. 18, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) said on Thursday in Lagos.

This is contained in the daily ‘Shipping Position’ issued by NPA, a copy of which was made available to newsmen. The document said 15 of the ships would arrive the ports with containers, while eight others were expected with general cargoes.

It said that 12 other ships would sail in with sugar, buck wheat, bulk salt, crude pail oil and rice in bags. According to the document, nine ships will sail in with diesel, petrol and kerosene. Seven other ships carrying rice, crude palm oil, diesel and petrol have arrived the ports, waiting to berth.

Shameless country. They can't even produce what they eat.

Who are those fools saying biafrans would starve to death because northerners produce all the food..I hope you see even Nigerians don't have food. The strongest cash crop now is cassava from the east as beans from the north has been banned by most countries

If there's no food why did Buhari stop fertilizer distribution to the east

Honestly speaking, Nigeria cannot survive a week of total blockade as Biafra survived such man’s inhumanity against fellow men for almost three years. How could Nigeria, the so-called giant of Africa, expect handout from certain nations in the form of 44 ships in order to fight off fuel and food scarcity created by the dumbass leaders such as Daura Dumbass a.k.a Muhammadu Buhari? I guess the call for independent Biafra or Republic of Igbo land should be place in the after burner. Nigeria is a celebrated dead end.

It is very annoying when this agencies misinform the public, the army, police, state government and even the federal government are all involved in this act. Let the citizens know things as they are, no need to sugar coat or lie, we need to stop practicing this misinformation strategy .

Our economy is in real trouble.
Local production is being replaced with IMPORTS amid stifling exchange controls that will lead to mass UNEMPLOYMENT and undoing the transformation gains under Jonathan!
As it was in Buhari's first coming in the 80s, is now and........

Quit being clever by half... You have deceived yourself to the point where you now believe your own lies. The GDP growth chart you even posted above clearly shows an uncontrollable nosedive from late 2014 till mid-2015 from where it is clear that the values are bouncing back. The last time I checked, the maladministration of your hero extended to the tail end of the 2nd quarter of 2015 (which represents the worst economic performance on that chart). if you were half as intelligent as you think you were, you would have clearly seen that the image you posted invalidates your own argument. Here's a better image to show true trend of the GDP growth under your hero. After taking over a robust economy, the free-fall can clearly be seen from the general trend line since 2010.

News of food importation can't be a good news and announcing importation or fuel when nnpc claimed we have excess isn't a good news either.
