No, that's not Mary. It's a picture of Israel through whom the Seed of the woman that would bruise the head of the serpent (Genesis 3:15) would come. The same woman fled to the wilderness for 3.5 years being the time Israel would be accommodated in the wilderness during the last 3.5 years of the Great tribulation.

But the woman was supplied with the two wings of a giant eagle, so that she might fly from the presence of the serpent into the desert (wilderness), to the retreat where she is to be kept safe and fed for a time, and times, and half a time (three and one-half years, or 1,260 days).
Revelations 12:14

Because God has already promised that Israel would be saved during the great tribulation
Jeremiah 30:7
Alas! for that day will be great, so that none will be like it; it will be the time of Jacob’s [unequaled] trouble, but he will be saved out of it.

Nice one!

Israel will accept Christ as their messiah when the anti Christ takes over (at the hr of trial and tribulations) and they would all be saved. Romans 11:26.

It's a pity they will not witness the marriage feast of the Lamb as they wouldn't be going in the rapture!

Indeed the Goodnews for man is Badnews for the devil; both aspects of the Gospel must be preached to all creatures. Thankfully, the latter already believes (James 2:19) his part we just need to exploit that 'belief' to root him out!(John 16:11)

Is Rev. 12:1-2 about Mary as the Queen of Heaven?
by Matt Slick

Rev. 12:1-2 says, "And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; 2 and she was with child; and she cried out, being in labour and in pain to give birth."

Many Roman Catholics believe that Mary has an exalted position in heaven. Though Roman Catholic theology has not declared that Mary is divine, they are slowly inching toward that position. Please consider some of the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church regarding her.

Mary is the Queen over all things: "Queen over all things" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 966).

Entrust our cares to Mary: "Holy Mary, Mother of God . . . we can entrust all our cares and petitions to her: she prays for us as she prayed for herself: 'Let it be to me according to your word.' [Lk 1:38] By entrusting ourselves to her prayer, we abandon ourselves to the will of God together with her: 'Thy will be done,' (CCC 2677).

Mary is Advocate, Helper, Mediatrix. " . . . the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix.'" (CCC 969).

Mary Delivers our souls from death: By Mary's prayers, she delivers souls from death (CCC par. 966).

Mary brings us the gifts of Eternal Salvation: Mary, " . . . by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation . . . (CCC par. 969).

Mary is worshipped: " . . . when she [Mary] is the subject of preaching and worship she prompts the faithful to come to her Son . . . " (Vatican Council II, p. 420).

Mary sits at the right hand of Christ: " . . . she is the supreme Minister of the distribution of graces. Jesus "sitteth on the right hand of the majesty on high" (Hebrews i. b.). Mary sitteth at the right hand of her Son . . . " (Pope Pius X, 1835-1914, Ad Diem Illum Laetissimum, 14).

As you can see, the Roman Catholic Church has exalted Mary to an incredibly high level. So, it is not surprising to find that Catholics would look at Revelation 12:1-2 and interpret "the woman clothed with the sun" as being a reference to Mary. Is this position correct? No, it is not.

If you notice the text in verse 2 it says that she was "with child and she cried out being in labour and in pain." This is a problem because according to the Roman Catholic doctrine of the Immaculate Conception, Mary did not inherit Original Sin.

CCC 491, "Through the centuries the Church has become ever more aware that Mary, "full of grace" through God, was redeemed from the moment of her conception. That is what the dogma of the Immaculate Conception confesses, as Pope Pius IX proclaimed in 1854: The most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Saviour of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin."

If you're not familiar with the concept of Original Sin, it is "the hereditary fallen nature and moral corruption that is passed down from Adam to his descendants."1 Sin entered the world through Adam (Romans 5:12). He is the first man who committed sin, and that sin is reckoned to all people (1 Corinthians 15:22; Romans 5:18). This means that all descendants of Adam are under the effects of original sin. Part of the curse of the Fall that caused Original Sin is spoken of by God in Genesis 3.

Gen. 3:16, "To the woman He said, 'I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth. In pain you shall bring forth children. Yet your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.'"

Notice that part of the curse is pain in childbirth. This is why women suffer during the birth process. So, when we look back to the text of Revelation 12:1-2, we see that the woman clothed with the sun is suffering birth pain. Since the Roman Catholic position is that Mary could not be suffering birth pain (because of her Immaculate Conception and no Original Sin), then these verses cannot be about Mary.

Hence attempting to prognosticate the likely time of Christ's return based on past events is a mistake! Who in Israel realised that between the 69th and 70th week there was going to be a break of over 2 milleniums for the Church age?

Joseph's dream in Genesis 37:9 helps us understand this verse better. '' And he dreamed yet another dream, and said, Behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me''. The Sun in Rev 12:1-2 represents Jacob the Moon his wife. The Woman represents the nation of Isreal, her crown with twelve Stars represents the twelve tribes of Israel and the Child represents our Lord Jesus Christ. It is not Mary!

You should read the entire Chapter 12 to understand better and not just reading 2 verses and making canal interpretation. I have copied a few of the verses

12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

12:2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

12:3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.

12:5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. Revelation

12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

12:13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation

MY CONTRIBUTION

Verse 12:1 talks about the Woman clothed with the sun (see also Songs of Solomon 6:10 who is she that cometh forth as the morning rising, fair as the moon, bright as the sun and terrible as an army set in battle array)

Verse 2 & 5 says this woman is with child who is to rule all nations.

Verse 3 speaks about the dragon while verse 7 says that Michael and his angels went to fight this dragon and his angels.

Verse 9 explicitly calls this dragon Devil and Satan, it's still possible that some people writing here are angels of this Satan whom Michael and his angels fight to this day and will always defeat.

Verse 17 is the most interesting here (12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation)

The seed of this woman is described here in verse 17 as those who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

THE LAST WORDS OF A DYING MAN: THE LAST WORDS OF THE DYING JESUS

19:26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!19:27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home. John

Here Symbolically Jesus gave His beloved to His Mother, He gave His Church to His Mother. Mary is a Mother to all true disciples of Jesus and every true disciple of Jesus is a child of Mary in keeping to the testimony of Jesus.

Lastly I quote St. Luke's Gospel

1:48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. Luke

Mark the Words "from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed."

Mary was filled with the Holy Spirit as She proclaimed these Words, now let us remember Rev 12:17 which talked about those who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

My question for you is

In keeping with the commandments of God according to Rev 12:17 and Luke 1:48, DOES YOUR GENERATION CALL MARY BLESSED?

It's even more evident in these times, in these last days that the dragon is making war against the children of the Woman using his angels to give erroneous interpretations and teachings.

BEWARE Child of God.

Many, indeed very many shall be disappointed on the Last day when they see the Blessed Virgin Mary seated at Jesus right hand.

If Mary was not important, why did God hand her specially to his beloved disciple? Why was John the only apostle to die a natural death if not to take special care of his mother and to have the revelations.
