MimiHANS: Good afternoon sir, Thank you for leading me to this point. I have successfully registered and printed my PGD admission letter but it is backdated thus: provisional admission for 2012/2013. why this? or is it a system error? Also, Kindly advise me on when you think is suitable for me to visit my SC for screening, because in the admission letter it is stated that I should visit my SC by March, 2013 for screening and documentation. Anticipating for your response. Thanks, |

[quote author=chyna4luv post=40431609] Sorry for the late response. You shouldn't have any issue with that, however, present it at your proposed SC next year January. If there would be any kind of correction, they'll know what to do. Regards! |

vision2050: To buttress my points. Elective classes are Courses that count toward your degree, but aren't directly related to your degree program. You can base these Courses on your interests or take a few that would help you out in your field of study and transfer to your career. Some of the importances of Elective Courses are: -It boosts GPA. -It ameliorates transcripts. -It provides students with a well-rounded education that focuses on foundational subjects. -It expands a student's global awareness, critical thinking skills, and communication skills. -It can increase your knowledge of a specialised area within your field. -To crown it all, a student may turn out to find something they're really interested in, that they never would have originally thought of. |

MimiHANS: Chief, this topic is crucial as I was told by a fellow students that all electives will not be used in calculation of our CGPA. I was told it is just important that we pass them before we can think of graduating, how authentic is your claim that it can be used to boost GP |

Electives are courses you are encouraged to take to make your learning robust or well rounded. They’re not compulsory since the moment you amass the minimum credit units required by your major to graduate, they become more a superfluity than a necessity. However, the notion that they are unrelated to your major is not entirely true. Arguably, they can be quite an additive to your learning process and by extension your grade point average, but this is not always a win-win situation, as quite frankly they can also make your performance regressive and eventually turn out worthless when you perform poorly. Simply put, you’re not required to pass them. So, my advice is this – take them only when the course content comes natural to you and you’re sure to make great grades in them. Otherwise, face the cores judiciously. Remember, part of the training you get in a college degree, albeit implicitly, is the ability to make smart choices. P.S. Any course you register, be it elective or core, counts towards your CTUR (cumulative total units registered). 3 Likes |
