Congratulation bro, Can you please help me with the sample of your supervisor request. I mean your first email to the prof introducing yourself to him and willing to be a student under his supervision.

thanks and God will make all TRV hopeful come easy.

I got your pm but unable to reply unless you drop your mail and I'll send you.
How I did it,?. I won't lie to you, I sent more than 50emails to profs in my field, I suddenly became an active reader bro. I have downloaded Different professors publications(both the interesting, insightful, boring,&understandable ones) from ResearchGate digital library through their web pages. What I did was(Thanks to thesoj that directed me to the post), I read the publications and I looked at where I can improve on their lab. 99% of replies I got was Dear Jkakeside, Your backgrounds on Xxxx sounds good but I'm not in the position to fund a new student for I have exceeded my fundings" or Dear Jlakeside, Thanks for showing interest in working in my lab but ......you know the rest... Until I got a slight positive response from 2-3 of them..

This is d kind of emails I sent

GoodMorning Prof XXXXXX

My name is Jlakeside from Nigeria. I studied BS Yoruba Education with CGPA of 9.99/10 from the University of Nairaland. I am presently preparing for graduate school education and I want to apply to the Igbo Dept at University of the Prof for an MSc Program. After going through your profile and publications, I find your work on "Bleep" interesting. I have vast knowledge & experience in Bleep during my undergrad years where I did X, Y, Z, blah blah blah.

I read one of your research works with Dr ganiyuadeoye et al,2012 on "Climate change and green house gases". I found it on the Research gate digital library (www.researchgate.net/climate_green_*****). I find this insightful and interesting. I was particularly fascinated by the effect of climatic conditions on dormancy and regeneration by xxxxxx(refer to what you read on his/her publication.).

Sir, I saw some interesting questions while reading it and I was much concerned about "What is the interaction between dormancy break and smoke-stimulated germination with fire intensification?". There are some gases such as Bleep in the family Bleep which practically require fire to crack its coat leaving the unharmed in dormancy breaking(you gast know what you really wanna ask since you have a diverse knowledge in that area). I understand that dormancy breaks and germinate under so many certain auspicious climatic condition and long monitoring of these favourable conditions should be part of ecophysiological studies in future BUT can it be done using FV8889 solution?(here, this is what you planning to bring to his/her lab, he/she hasn't done it or he/she had done it and you came up with another idea to move the research into another realm). Could this work be extended towards this regards? Do you think it will be a worthwhile to pursue this line of research?.

I'd like to know if you would be accepting new graduate students for Winter 2025. Thank you very much for your time. I hope we have the chance to speak about the research in future.

Hope to hear from you soon
Regards

Jlakeside Nairaland..

The thing is, you have to be sure of what you're asking and writing,. Orelse the prof will think otherwise, and if he/she has an ongoing research which he/she needs students, just go and read on related research that has been done..make Google your friend,. I'm sure you will come across one and ask him how you can improve on the project... Have it in mind that 90% will say NO, 5% will be like "OK, apply let's see how it goes from there, and the remaining 5% will give u a green light.. Never say never, keep mailing others if one rejects

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by thesoj: 1:37pm On Nov 27, 2015
In your SOP, you need to passionately explain how you will use your course of study in Nigeria. You need to be as specific, explicit, detailed, and concise as possible. You also need to highlight the employment options in Nigeria for someone of your course.
princeade09:
hello house, ur pikin don come again.
I got refused the other time for this reason
* you didn't convince me that you will leave Canada at the end of your course, to reach this decision, I took into consideration

X the job prospects in your country of residence.

abeg house, I will reapply but would like to know the correction part, is it my SOP that I would have to sharpen or some additional documents that I must add? if na document, which one? if na SOP pls make u give me points abeg. my course is arts and social science undergraduate

Hello peeps!!!
My brother got the passport request notice today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is a very complex applicant with no funds of his own (absolute zero), no employment letter (he was self-employed but he made very little from it and didn't register the company), and zero travel history outside West Africa. But we worked hard to get the VO to see that he wasn't lazying about since he finished BSc about five years ago. We put together a really good application (with lots of proof) in spite of the complexity of his application, and apparently the VO was impressed. But let's wait until we see the visa sha.... I previously discussed his application here and here and here.
Hello. Can I get a copy of the SOP here a_mastermind4ever@yahoo.com?
Thank you.

I just got refused last week and now confusion is my name.

confusion would be meaningless without my name but then..

after my medical I got refused due to

1. insufficient fund

2. length of proposed stay

3. purpose of visit and

4. personal asset. wait ooo

5. Even travel history.

- as in ehhnn....

so now the thing is I got admitted into BRANDON UNI. to study nursing(U.G).

I did accounting here and that's just it.

before I applied I was concerned about the change from ACCOUNTING TO NURSING but I waved it for students should have the right to pursue whatever career they want but now I'm thinking differently. To the Gurus in the house, what's your say on this my case and how do I tackle this effectively so I don't get refused again.

firstly.....I used my Uncle's Business Account and not his personal account, It was after my refusal I heard I should have used his personal account and not a business account cos. a business account isn't controlled by one person in the mind of the V/O.

secondly...why did they tick TRAVEL HISTORY.

thirdly...PERSONAL ASSET

I maybe understand why they ticked LENGTH OF PROPOSED STAY because For .NURSING(PRE NURSING) It takes one year to complete the program and that's what I got admitted into. Nursing first year is called pre nursing but the overall study duration is 4years.

while filling my questionnaire form and the study app made outside of Canada, I typed in 1year. maybe, just maybe that's what led to the V/O ticking LENGTH OF STAY.

PLEASE ANY ADVICE ON MY CASE WOULD BE WONDERFUL.

My opinion is that applying for BN after a first degree in accountancy look rather strange. They rarely offer any correlated subjects/courses - they are like North & South. I'm even amazed you got accepted!

Secondly BN is 4 years even if your pre-nursing is for the first year, it is still a part of the overall program. The idea the VO will get with your "1 year" reply is probably you don't really intend studying BN after all. Add this to your accounting background & even I will doubt your intentions grin

Your SOA should be properly explained. Even if shishi no dey inside, explain why it is so & how it doesn't affect your funding for your intended endeavor!

It seems getting MSc admission into Canadian Universities is a 'big deal'. I've applied to two schools now but wasn't admitted; UofManitoba(Mech Eng.) & UofRegina(Pet. Eng). I wouldn't know what they really want but I know those are at least not the top five ranked schools in Canada for which makes me wonder why they reject like that. After coming up with a good SOP, academic references, CGPA of 4.2/5.0 (Mech Eng), meticulously filling their application forms; One wonders what they really from me again! Them jus dey wack my $100 sha..

The medical form is unique to each individual, an so... u cannot use some oda person's form for ur own purpose. Its on ur cic webpage. After logging in, on the form where u are requested to come for medical, click on the link and wait for 3 seconds. Then a link to the url for the medical form would drop and then u can print snd proceed. Try it out, and if u don't get it, do buzz back for beta explanation.
