Colourful and lovely spectacle!. With the level of sophistication in these pictures,one is not in doubt about the quality of their curriculum and attention to scholarly values. The last time I was in town,i passed Dominican Sisters College located in the hinterland of Ogbu Abatete and I was mouth agape at such quality quietly tucked out from public view. To think that most of these stellar institutions are either missioned or privately owned speaks volume about our drive for excellence. Truly Anambra is the Light of the Nation!

The seriousness of Anambra secondary education is highly commendable. The state government and missionary are doing an excellent job. You can tell the students are excited to be there; which translates to success.

Missionaries have really invested in education in Anambra state. When I look at that exam hall picture, I marvel. One can only imagine the academic work deposited in those students that even with the spacing, they got the confidence to excel.

I am really impressed with what 'am seeing in Anambra schools. The students are so neat and all. But looking at the spaced out seating arrangement in the exam hall, I just can't help but wonder how 'mgbo' go take fly for there. Na im be say if you no study, na OYO be that oh! Chai!

gone are the days when they hold events of anambra indigenes outside anambra state. You folks should start thinking anambra. More foreigners are flooding into anambra, it would be a shame when people like you would decide to return, there won't be anything left for you and your likes home.

St Charles Onitsha can easily be turn into a University of Science & Technology!..... There are Lots of land space & Structures there!. The Catholic/ Anambra State govt should exploy that option for the greater progress of Anambra State!

Pls anambra state should start building bus stops and stop all these indiscriminate parking of Keke, okada and buses along the roads causing unnecessary hold ups.

Bros I was shocked when I was told by a prospective student, that he scored 250 but couldn't meet the anambra cut of mark, and I asked to explain, then he said that anambra indigene have to score higher to get admission in Unizik Awka! Can you imagine, he said that people from neighbouring state can score 220 and get admitted! Then I was very upset, I asked so the effort obi and obiano made and making in anambra state post primary education system is in futile! Is it our fault that we are intelligent? Or the govt did and doing more to improve our education?
Honestly, I never knew this useless policy is also applied to a federal institution in the state! I was very upset yesterday! I don't even know where to start! This thing must be abolished!!!!

I’m determined to fight corruption in tertiary institutions, says Buhari

PRESIDENT Muhamadu Buhari has assured that the problems being encountered in the tertiary education sub-sector as regards the implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) will soon be addressed.

He gave the assurance during the 27th convocation ceremony of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Ondo State.

The President said his attention was drawn to the resultant discomfort the implementation of TSA has caused in the academic and administrative activities in tertiary institutions in the country.

Speaking through the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof Julius Okogie, he explained that the TSA policy was introduced in order to enthrone financial discipline and curb corruption in the country.

The TSA was “introduced for a good cause and the issues involved in its implementation as it affects tertiary institutions are being addressed.”

The President reiterated the ‘zero-tolerance for corruption’ by his administration, saying he was determined to lead by example.

“We shall obey our laws and shall be transparent, accountable, just, fair and demonstrate integrity in all our undertakings.

“The leadership of this university should therefore, continue to be prudent, transparent and accountable in the management of both human and materials resources.

“Government is determined to fight corruption at all levels including corruption in academics in our tertiary institutions.

“We cannot speak of effective and efficient funding of the education sector if our universities are mired in crises, confusion, fraud and lack of institutional vision.

“I must at this point call on universities to be at the vanguard of the fight against corruption and eroded ethics, which constitute a major component of our societal ills.

“We must all endeavour as citizens and members of the academic community to enthrone the spirit of hardwork, honesty and inspirational leadership which are the hallmark of any citadel of learning.”

The President said the need for the diversification of the economy is ripe now considering the dwindling fortune of oil in the international market and charged universities to join hands with Federal Government in the onerous task.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Adebiyi Daramola in his address said 4,435 students graduated with various degrees from the university with 28 of them having first class
