I just need a forum where i will see huge numbers of igbos together and I speak to them. I have tried my best from my salary to write to some merchants around to see the good things about investing in igboland and take some developmental decisions that will boost their profits x3. but these men just dont want to leave their rest position. this is really annoying.

I have even sent mails to different people to make this known to them. I will be attending the end of the year party of my town tomorrow and I will try and plead to them to allow me speak to them and let them see more reasons why they should come back and leave this place before they start dishing out policies that will block our businesses from booming.

to be sincere, igbos are very stubborn set of people.

Let me help you with more pics bro. grin grin grin grin grin
But remember 33 isn't Anam city project. So dodging the question with pics. does not answer it.

One problem we have is inability to speak the truth without gloating on something else which is totally unrelated.

We are talking about the bridge connecting GRA Onitsha to Anam city here. NOT 33 or Nkwelle area!

I perfecly understood the point you were making bro but I was trying to point out that the city is already expanding on the areas that does not have inhibition of river/stream for now. There was a private investor workng on anamcity but I don't know what's up about it till. I totally agree with you that there is every need to do the bridge across the river into anamcity, at least 2 bridges which might not even be half the long of the one being being at Oil rig/Otuocha. Obiano should do the damn bridge A.S.A.P if Onitsha is to become the megacity out of the East that can stand side by side with other Nigerian mega cities.

This is what lagos state is doing for its businesses. they found out that some of their businesses are leaking into ogun state. they didnt want that to happen, so they had to open epe, ibeju lekki and eko atlantic. this is the way we should think rather than allow our businesses to leak into other states. we should prepare for the influx of people into the region to avoid people running away from our state.

in the 90's, onitsha was very popular to the extent that we read it in our primary school text books. but now, we only hear about the different places when we click on this thread or travel to the east. we are traders and we should always make our selling points sell well for us.

@ bolded, Exactly what i am saying.lol...

It will create a new area on Anambra coastline which we can develop a totally modern CBD similar to Eco-Atlantic etc. Instead of wasting time and resources demolishing old structures inside the current Onitsha town.

We can create an entirely new, well planned modern city on Anambra coastline if we simply built that bridge.
That new city will be the modern Dubai of Anambra, with highrise buildings, 5 star hotels, golf courses etc. Not to talk about the residential part of the area

Politicians are paid to stop lawless people from trading on Anambra roadside and other criminal activities but no one seems to care.Wonder why it's so difficult to defend simple law which they swore to do. Why not create space for private people to build attractive and inexpensive stuff like mini-markets, cornerstores, plazas etc on every street for these people and still tax and make money from them

I agree with you in anyway, But you see the only way i think street trading can be eliminated from our streets is doing something drastic. This is my plain, just enact law that says it is legal to take whatever items you need without paying for it if you are breaching the law by selling on the street and if you retaliate or assault anyone in the process of taking any item there will be a prison term of about 9-10 years, this law must be enforced. But before the government enact this law first they will put up an area in the city center that is accessible and it will be conducive for street trading . They will provide it with toilets ,water and a car park and a chain link high wall around it with a small office post with security in front of the gate. Now anyone that's interested will go there pay like N50 for the whole day and sale whatever. If government can find the will to replicate this two or three places in all our big cities people will not sale on our streets no one will want his/her goods to be taking away for free .

Now, you don't need to repost those pictures as if i haven't seen them nor that i don't know the area i am talking about.

The city the size of Onitsha should be expanding rapidly almost the rate at which Abuja, Lagos or PH is expanding. That is what we are talking about here.

Look at tiny Enugu (No disrespect meant), in the last 5 years, it has new Emene area, ninth mile area, Independence layout phase II, new trans-ekulo (Elim estates) etc. and you are posting remodelled Rojenny stadium that has existed for more than 30 years?
Ndo!

Stop being emotional. There is no need for unnecessary comparison that is uncalled for. The whole development still centered in Enugu, 9th mile and Emene are nothing to talk about. I might as well put all the neigborhoods in Anambra into ONE and start naming the different neighborhoods just like you did up there. From the look of things Onitsha has expanded more than any city in the east in the last 10-20years, though I stand to be corrected. And it is expanding towards Trans-Nkisi, 3-3, Oba, Obosi, Ogidi, Ogbunike etc. I still maintain that those bridges be built to attract more investors into the Anam-city.

This is what igbo governors should be doing by liasing with the ijaws to make the route passable for making a seaport in onitsha or any other part of the region. its like you guys are downplaying the enormous revenue you will get from that venture alone.

we even have our brother who is the chairman of shipowners association to direct ships to his own region. we should learn to make you of opportunities and make things happen.

i know what is happening in the state is great but i know that we are not pushing enough to make things happen.

This is how to reason and read well so you can respond responsibly: A brief review of the sequence of discussions
that culminated in the handover of schools
and which are verifiable will expose these liars
of Government House, Awka. Governor Chris
Ngige’s Commissioner for Education, Prof.
Leonard Muoghalu was directed by him to
liaise with the religious organizations on the
handover of some mission schools back to
their rightful owners to help arrest the
indiscipline in schools and reverse the falling
standard of education. See letter dated 6th
January 2004 and titled Hand Back of Schools
to Voluntary Agencies which was signed by
the then Commissioner for Education.
Many meetings were held at the
Commissioner for Education’s Office between
February 2004 and September 2005. These
meetings were attended by:
1. His Grace Most Revd. Maxwell Anikwenwa
– Arch. Bishop of Province II Anglican
Communion & Bishop of Awka.
2. His Grace Most Revd. Dr. Valerian Okeke –
Arch. Bishop of Onitsha Arch. Diocese ably
represented by Very Revd. Fr.. Anosike –
Vicar Gen. of Onitsha Arch. Diocese.
3. His Lordship Most Revd. Dr. Simon A.

4. His Lordship Most Revd. Ken Sandy Okeke
– Bishop on The Niger .
5. His Lordship Most Revd. Dr. Hillary Okeke
– Catholic Bishop of Nnewi who attended the
first meeting and appointed Msgr. Orakwe &
Msgr. Adigwe to represent him in subsequent
meetings.
6. National and State officers of NUT
7. The Permanent Secretary and some
Directors of the Ministry of Education were
also in attendance.
After many meetings, it was agreed that the
schools be handed over and it was so
announced by the Government of Dr. Chris
Ngige to the people of Anambra State and
publicized in the mass media. A formal hand
over ceremony was performed by His
Excellency the then Governor of \Anambra
State Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige OON (Onwa)
on Thursday the 15th September, 2005. The
handover elicited a negative reaction from a
few misguided members of the NUT who
demonstrated at the State Secretariat against
the handover but were informed by
government that the handover was in the
interest of Anambra State and therefore final
and irreversible.
A memorandum of understanding was drawn
up and signed by accredited representatives
of The Anglican Church, The Catholic church,
The Nigerian Union of Teachers, other stake
holders and the government of Anambra State
then under the able charge of Dr. Chris
Nwabueze Ngige OON (Onwa) as the
Executive Governor.
If all these events were witnessed by the
citizenry and the Government of Mr. Peter Obi
wants the public to believe the opposite then
something is wrong with his administration.
Anambrarians are asking why repudiate the
good works performed by a man who risked
his own life to liberate his people from the
shackles of financial servitude. We all know
that Gov. Peter Obi is suffering from
NGIGEPHOBIA a disease that makes him not
only blind to anything good from Dr. Chris
Ngige’s Administration but also to appropriate
the good works which he cannot repudiate.

I bet you think you are dealing with a typical Nigerian who doesn't know there left from their right. An article without source ? How come Ngige never come out to claim he handed schools to the missions? How come he didn't use it as a campaign strategy ?

BUILDING UNITY AMONGST NDIGBO:

In the chase of self-sufficiency and prosperity and the development of our race, the unity of igbos in the different parts of the country must not be taken with child’s play. This is not a bedroom talk and we will not wash it down the drain. The population of igbos around the world can be estimated as 40million or more. These people around the world do not have a common voice and they’re seen as people who are sedentary in nature. This is a bad one for us. The igbos cannot sit down and stay alone. We achieve more by coming together and do things. It is rather a foolish idea that an igbo man believes if he hustle’s on his own, he will succeed. Yes, he will succeed but his success can only be marginal because when he get to a certain height, he will need more people to push his great wall for him. We were not born to live like scattered humans, we need coordination in our lives. We need to be coordinated in every decision we make. The next decision that this country will take will affect our lives, our future and businesses. We should be one when these things happen. The only thing that can make us develop as one is if we break the artificial boundary created in this country. Immediately a state is created, an anambra man feels that he is not the same as the imo man. That is the height of stupidity! Did Eri create anything called Imo or anambra? Why the senseless disunity. Igbos will be comparing the development between enugu and Aba, some will go as far as insulting the other people’s land. This should stop. We are not here for child’s play, we are here for nation building. We should build the igbo nation. An anambra man is not different from an asaba man neither does an abia man different from either the obigbos and the ikwerres. We should stop the intra-ethnic group segregation and disunity. When the chips are down, that is when we will know who our brothers are. Since we are still in the bedevilment of oil, we still believe that things are normal. We need to wake and do our work well. Create a real forum for the unity of igbos. Inter-marriage will go a long way in quelling this stupid ideas. We need to face our past grievances and find a lasting solution to them. A river doesn’t make the same people different. We are one by virtue of ancestry and who we are. No one will remember to call you Ngwa man when the time comes, neither are they going to call you an Onitsha man. We need to get things done and if we lose in our quest for unity, we will fail in everything we do. We must fight with all our strength to restore the glory our fathers lost in Abuja. We must regain all lost grounds. We must understand that in coming together, we are stronger. We must not make it look normal when our people are been killed and maltreated in different parts of the country and world without raising our voices. It will be an act of cowardice to let small ethnic groups to fool and use us to achieve their whims. We must wake up! We must remember who we are. We must call everyone, from every location and from any part of the country. We must tell anyone from anwhere that the time for united IGBO is here. We must write our race in capitals. We must tell someone in Nsukka that the time has come to leave his comfort zone and fight for the sustenance of this race that Eri has worked hard to manage. We must not make the same mistakes our fathers made. They threw our future at the feet of outsiders. We must get back our future, not by shedding blood. But through our act of tact and mental superiority. We must not live as beggars neither are we going to run as cowards. We must fight for the existence of us as a people. We must break artificial boundaries and make them know our strength in numbers and human development. We must not be stupid enough to engage in silly online rants with other people. We must look inward and fight the fears our fathers have input in us. We must drag it out and look at the early morning sun and see that there is a chance for the future. We must not let any part of us, any subgroup of us be molested, killed or challenged without all parts of be there to defend them in every capacity we might find ourselves. The fight of one must be the fight for all. The time has come for igbos to look out and challenge the soil of the earth. Challenge the incoming wind and use it for our own gains. This world will not go against us anymore. It is time for us to decide if we want to survive and succeed or we want to perish.

I beg you this day, it will not be a simple act. It will be an act that will need sacrifice of your time and resources. It will take so much for you but you should not worry. It is not for your own enjoyment. It is for the enjoyment of your children and grandchildren. God, Himself will not be happy if we don’t take our chances at survival. We must not die as “passerbies”, we must live as champions of our existence.
I believe in the igbo race. We must represent in every capacity.

Understand one singular thing: We are one!

Anambra past governments have truly not helped our cities to be planned and habitable spaces.
We abandoned the crucial job of city planning to estate developing traders, which is why our cities look deplorable in spite of the fine modern buildings. Some streets have no space for two cars to pass side by side. This is truly sad.
We need to imbibe the culture of planning our cities and not indiscriminate haphazard construction of buildings as we currently have it..

Wish i could give you a million likes for that cement or stones idea for roads.

Use of asphalt cannot solve the intra city road problems in Anambra because it is very expensive and not durable for the heavy traffic inside Anambra cities. Cement concrete roads with gutters, will make all the difference if they are well built with steel rods reinforcements. Once built with gutters at the side, they last a thousand years with little or no maintenance.

We should ALWAYS think outside the box for innovative ideas, instead of always a copycat tailor made solution that has never worked well for our clime.

It's indeed saddening and like you said it's the failure of our past governors to plan and enforce orderliness brought about these indiscriminate way of building houses. More painful to know that some of these governors has either been to developed countries or lived there and saw what is obtainable. If we must restore law and order we must be very mean and brutal with these violators.
