i was in the office yesterday when i saw alot of people who came for an interview as my working place was recruiting temporary staffs for a project. fortunately, my boss was one of interviewing panel. At the end of the interview, i overheard him in his office discussing with another man who is also a senior staff.

MY BOSS: one guy lost his chance of getting the offer today.

OTHER MAN: what happened?

MY BOSS: he answered questions intelligently, but Mrs Tosin noticed that he had holes pierced on his two ears and she asked him about the holes.

OTHER MAN: what was he response?.

MY BOSS: he was beating around the bush by saying he was once into entertainment before he decided to change his career. but when he left the office, we all agreed and decided that he won't get the job because he doesn't appear to be responsible with the holes on his ears. so, we can't trust him with the bank's funds.


I was so sad on hearing this and I felt like crying for the young man even though I didn't know him. To all the youths out there, please always think twice before your Pierce those ears and draw those tattoos because I have also seen someone who was dropped at interview stage because of a tattoo on her neck. thanks.

Piercing ears go for interview wekey

Your physical appearance is paramount considering the sector before your character or atitude is considered. The physical appearance is very key in the financial sector, it says alot.

I have worked with a female colleague with tattoo on her neck. Organisational principles varies. That guy can get a good job in another place. I am not a fan piercings and tats though.

For me, guys with piercings and tattoos are a no no.

Its what u see on the outside that makes u want to see what's on the inside.

If The outside package is not attractive, you wont even bother wanting to look inside.

That is rubbish, i know an AGM of the same bank who used to be a bad boy during his undergrad days in USA with piercings also. Was also interviewed by d pensions arm of the bank sometin ago- d hr lady had a big tattoo on her leg. Looking responsible doesnt mean one is responsible. I pray for this country to have sense one day

People have defrauded their companies, almost wrecked their companies as a result of incompetence. I can bet anything that these people don't have pierced ears or tattoos or whatnot. One's outward appearance does not always represent what he's capable of doing but a lot of over zealous religious hypocrites can't see beyond that. As long as the young man gave satisfactory answers during the interview, he should have been hired on a probationary basis.

The problem with these present nigeria youth is that they dont think before they act. And even when you try to advice them they see you as a swagless dude.
One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was from a horse master. He told me to go slow to go fast. I think that applies to everything in life. We live as though there aren't enough hours in the day but if we do each thing calmly and carefully we will get it done quicker and with much less stress.
