Please let's stop deceiving ourselves with this talk of second class citizens.

I know many people in Nigeria who are second class citizens in their own country.

Countries like the US are so diverse and people from every nationality make it so if you are well educated, work hard and have dreams you can achieve them.

Im not saying there are not issues of racism but it's not as bloom out as we like to claim here and is it any worse than the tribalism we practice in Nigeria? We practice so much discrimination in Nigeria based on tribe religion etc.

If Indians had same attitude will we have Indians heading companies such as Google, Pepsi, Microsoft, former citi ceo, MasterCard just to name a few.

Many many Nigerians re suffer if worse than second class citizens in Nigeria so stop playing that card.

How many Indians are wasted regularly by the police in America compared to BLACKS?
How many
How many Indians are in America's jails compared to BLACKS?
How many
How does the ECONOMY of India compare to that of ANY black African country?
How
What % of what Indians USE daily do you estimate is developed, improved and PRODUCED in their own country vis-a-vis for Africans?
What %
How does this translate into respect for the individual's reference group/race?

When shall we stop deceiving ourselves and get BUSY to develop our OWN societies?

It is disappointing the youths find the dark skin of OP the most important message that is worth pointing out instead of the underlying message of absolute failure of their leaders.

It is a shame.
It's called collective intelligence. Many more people are ignoring the other posts and are commenting on OP's complexion. I think this goes a long way to show that Nigerians are merely collectively superficial. As a group, we are also rather unintelligent. Even though as individuals some are brilliant, as a group we are rather dull.

The picture below appeared on a reddit page under the news about Shrekli, a CEO of a pharma company that increased a drug's retail value by more than 5000% in order to make profit. While it's apparent that Shrekli appears overly gangsterly in the picture, a huge percent of the comments on the forum had little to say about hos lifestyle than about the company's action itself to raise its drug price. I can only imagine how a NL audience would have handled similar news.

Why do you think Indians are not being killed compared to blacks? Because they focus on education and hard work compared to many black communities in america where they drop out of school and get into drugs.

Please tell me how many of the blacks killed were educated people who worked hard and abide by the rules. the boy Laquan Mcdonald for whom there are protests going on in Chicago now, was he a law abiding boy taking advantage of the free education available? Were his parents people to look up to in society? Didn't he just rob a store?

besides I find the black lives matter movement to be discriminatory. a few white people have been killed by the police in the last few months as well and not one single peep from them, but when a black criminal is killed they bring out his best and most innocent photo and start protesting. i think the police shootings have more to do with police heavy handedness and over reaction that racism. Not saying there are not racially motivated killings but it's more a case of heavy handedness.

Please tell me of one black person who was law abiding working hard who got shot by the police. I have been treated far better by the police in the US than I have ever been in Nigeria. They greet me how you doing sir? You know why? because I do not go around committing crimes and acting dodgy and threatening people.

No matter how great Nigeria will be there will always be people moving in and out of the country. I have not said do not develop Nigeria but the reason should not be because you claim everyone is a second class citizen abroad and will automatically be a first class citizen in Nigeria. Also how do you expect people to sacrifice to help develop the country when we have a such an unbalanced society where it is not based on justice or fairness but on who has more money or knows the right people. I will gladly sacrifice for Nigeria if I know my sacrifice will be allowed to make a difference not wasted by some selfish tribalists all after their own personal gain.

Since you have identified mass education as the key, what sacrifice can you make for your own tribe to be all educated as Awo did for Yorubas in the 50s. You don't have to do it for Nigeria.

Ok, well understOod[uote author=Redman44 post=40517529]

The schools you are talking about are Private Schools in Nigeria lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed, not Public Schools. Many Public Schools in the UK are better than the Private schools in Nigeria when it comes to Aesthetics and Facilities- Right from the Classroom to the Toilets.

We can't have a Forum like Nairaland in Nigeria and not be able to influence Politics and Development in Nigeria. Cheers. [/quote]

To those lamenting about Nigerian primary schools, when you leave primary schools under the jurisdiction of the poorest and most ill-managed tier of government in the country with little or no assistance or coordination from anywhere, what do you expect?

Until we get our acts together and put our house in order, the lamentations won't cease!

Get your fact right please. Jaquan McDonald was not accused of robbery. He had a confrontation at the Burger King on 41st and Pulaski and that's when Police was called. He had PCP on his system but that did not justify him being shot 16 times. 15 shots after he was down. That's why the city of Chicago paid his mum $5 Dollars without the mother filling a lawsuit. You can present your points without obfuscation. There is bad elements of policing in some parts of US against minority. I am an Investment Banker in Chicago and I have witnessed Police Racism myself. Don't excuse Police brutality .

My brother, a better experiment is to transfer all 180 million Nigerians and spread them across the so called develop countries and bring 180 million people in the developed countries into the current Nigeria as it is. I can bet in 10yrs the developed countries will start looking like the current Nigeria while Nigeria may actually be transformed into a country better than Dubai.

I share your sentiments.
