Boko Haram strikes again in Adamawa, burns down military artillery

Rampaging Boko Haram militants on Sunday night engaged Nigerian troops in a fierce battle in their new bid to take over Gulak, the administrative headquarters of Madagali in northern part of Adamawa State.
Security and local sources say the insurgents, who came in three vehicles brandishing guns, burnt down a military base as they also burnt down three artilleries and carted away guns.
“They came around 7 p.m. and started firing on the soldiers during which all the soldiers ran away.
“There was pandemonium, people scampered for their lives, many slept in bushes, they killed one soldier during the fierce battle.
“Our local vigilantes had tried by staying back, until another troops were deployed from Madagali town and Shuwa, they engaged them, if not they would have recaptured the town for the second time,” said James Ularamu, former chairman of Madagali.
The former Council chairman, and a local vigilante who did not want to be named, said there were heavy gun battles.
The local vigilante, who couldn’t say whether there were casualties from the Boko Haram side, said “after we chased them away they fled to the nearby Sambisa area.”
Efforts to get the army spokesperson were futile, but a member representing the area at the house of Representatives, Adamu Kamale, confirmed the attack.
He, however said he did not have “much details for now”.
The state commissioner of information, Ahmed Sajo, said additional troops had been deployed to the area.

Your own first report from AP news says clearly :

"The civilian fighters held Gulak town after soldiers ran away Sunday night until the military sent reinforcements who fought off the extremists, former council chairman James Ularamu told The Associated Press."

http://www.usnews.com/news/world/articles/2015/11/30/boko-haram-destroys-nigerian-military-base-107-troops-mia

So it was Nigerian military who eventually fought off the Bokos, and we control the town .

Makes you a fool cheesy cheesy

Was this before or after the soldiers ran away?

We see the story is no longer "false".

Your soldiers are back to their old habits of taking to their heels.

Shame on South Africa, your useless army is failing everyday with operation Corona as gun smugglers and assassins pass under the pants and trousers of SANDF troops to wreck havoc in South Africa, smuggling thousands of AK-47 rifles and bullets to your armed gangs of murderers and hired killers, plus armed robbers who make South Africa the most violent ridden society in Africa and the crime capital of the continent.

Shame, if only SANDF had not been so stupiid, all those AK-47 rifles would not have been smuggled into their homeland under your leaking nose.

Yes operation Corona is an SANDF MILITARY OPERATION and your useless army is failing at home with a very small type of threat that can be defeated by even ordinary Nigerian mobile police force.

Shame on the useless South African nation that CANNOT even secure itself in peace time, talk less of a war ! Shame !

Is 80 000 migrants apprehended and 2000 criminals captured a failure?

What's false about the story is the running away. How does a journalist 1,000 km away from the battlefield judge a team of soldiers as having run away when she is also reporting that the same soldiers came back with reinforcements to defeat the Boko fighers? Obviously the soldiers did not leave the fight or if they did, it was to bring reinforcements and more ammunition. Simple common sense.

It does not require much intelligence to pick holes in that self contradictory news report.

Bottom line is....Nigerian soldiers won the battle and rule the town, any other comment is a waste of time by people who were not on the battlefield....people like you mumu.

~ 15,000 Boko Haram fighters killed, dozens of armoured vehicles destroyed, hundreds of Toyota cannon mounted trucks destroyed, all infiltrated 45 towns recaptured in 45 days, every Islamic caliphate destroyed, hundreds of IED or land mines deactivated, Sambisa and four other forests cleared, no more caliphate existing...... a failure?

No Nigerian soldier dares to run away from battle now, they know they will be arrested, tried, and sentencee to death. SANDF gave medals of 'bravery' to soldiers that ran away from Seleka rebels in Bangui gringrin

Soldiers ran away, finish and klaar. That's why BH managed to burn down the base because it was left in mercy of insurgents.

YOUR SOLDIERS RAN AWAY YES. THEIR RUNNING AWAY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH REINFORCEMENTS.

Nope, civilians stopped the insurgents. Your military took to their heels. The insurgents are said to have launched their attack using only three Toyota vans.

LOL !!!!

We've seen so many of these false stories too many times. Next week now the same newspaper will apologize for publishing a false story they sourced from an anonymous poster on Facebook.

Wait till Nigerian army responds to this new cõçk and bull story written by an American news reporter sitting down safely in Lagos 1,000 km away from the battlefield of Northern Nigeria, writing war report from text messages sent to her from unidentified and nameless sources.

Two weeks ago but it was old video of Congo DRC soldiers victims of an ambush by rebels that was circulated all over the phone intenet as missing 150 Nigerian soldiers, the foolsh news media could not even notice that the soldiers were speaking French.... cheesy LOL ...many South African fools were also circulating same video..... too blind by their wish to know insult Nigeria's mighty army, the Southy dullards were not intelligent enough to know that the so called missing Nigerian soldiers had the flag of Congo Republic on their uniforms....

Fools, no wonder Egypt is overtaking their economy while Somalia sends illiterate immigrants to take over their trading businesses and mini shops in their own homeland. Southy fools cheesy

You will not even qualify to be appointed as the spin doctor because you are a mess. You don't even know how to do damage control because you always attack media instead of applying your mind. No media in the world would intentionally hurt anyone's reputations for no reasons. Your military fled, otherwise insurgents couldn't have got the better hand of burning down your state property.

LOL and when the media says good things, it doesn't get attacked. Funny, cause he now wants to dispute the story based on the facts that the journalists we're not there, while he himself was not there, let alone his having the ability to report on anything. Mere civilians took on the attackers, after which the pathetic soldiers then saw that it was doable after all. Disgusting.

Lol.....Nigerian army is in control over of the town, Boko Haram that launched the attack retreated under Nigerian defensive firepower, so the Bokos who put their vehicles into reverse gear and abandoned mission did not run away, they were advancing into battle and the vehicle in every reverse gear were advancing into battle by driving backwards... Show us proof of more civilians taking on the attackers, give us numbers of how many civilians fought since you were there to count fighers on the battlefield. Show us proof.

BTW, Nigerian army won the battle, I see no contest here, so what's the noise about since we won the battle and Boko Haram ran away according to your own AP News media report, so what's the argument you have against the WINNER of the battle? As soon as you show us proof of soldiers taking on the attackers. You don't have a monopoly over deliberate silliness. Since you were there to count the fighters on the battlefield. Show us proof.

No one cares about who won the battle. We care only about the fact that they ran. Civilians remained behind to hold the territory. The cowardly soldiers, having been given a lifeline by civilians, came back. Shame on Nigeria.

We have fought insurgencies (Namibia)

And we were able to stop any towns from being taken - and stop SWAPO (PLAN) from establishing any permanent bases in South Africa.

Who said BH mission was to.capture the town? BH won because they intended to burn down your state property and they achieved just that without any fuss. Your military failed to stop them because they had to run and call in the reinforcements as usual. The ratio of Nigerian military in any war as we come to know it is

5 Soldiers to 1 enemy, that is 5:1. If that ratio cannot be satisfied soldiers run and call in support. In SANDF there is no such, we fight to the last drop of our blood even if the ratio is 10:1. The only limit is when ammo is depleted as in the case in Bangui.

South Africa Knocks Nigeria off its Perch as
“Most Corrupt” African Country
South Africa is now believed to be the most
corrupt country on the continent, according
to a new survey.
By Alexis Haden
The latest report by Transparency
International sees South Africa top the list
of countries where citizens believe the
problem has got worse in the last year.
Over 80% of South Africans who were
interviewed thought that corruption had
increased over the last year. Ghana and
Nigeria are some of the other worst-
affected nations.
79% of South Africans surveyed also believe
that not enough is being done to curb
corruption. On the continent‚ the majority of
Africans (58%) say that corruption has
increased over the past year.
If there is one shining light to the survey
it’s that 56% of South Africans surveyed
believe that ordinary people can make a
difference in the fight against corruption.
The survey found that 25% of respondents
in SA believe that the most effective way for
ordinary citizens to combat corruption is by
reporting their experiences‚ followed by a
further 22% who identified the refusal to pay
bribes as an effective means to fight
corruption.
With 43‚143 respondents, across 28
countries surveyed, people feel the police,
business executives, government officials
and the courts were all perceived as
corrupt, with 75 million people estimated to
have paid a bribe in the past year, AFP
reports.
Between JZ pouring money into his Nkandla
digs, Prasa’s dodgy trainsand countless of
other scandals, South Africans aren’t
exactly stoked about the state of affairs.
“People are outraged, they see this huge
spending as part of government corruption,”
David Lewis, director of Corruption Watch, a
local anti-graft organisation, told AFP.
“Corruption creates and increases poverty
and exclusion,” Transparency International
head Jose Ugaz said in a statement. source: www.thesouthafrican.com/south-africa-knocks-
