is this not the same road sweeping vehicle anamcity was criticizing earlier. I just hate people that tend to bring others or other things down just because they couldn't live up.. I like people that are always objective, not clouded by sentiments.

Did I applaud it here? NO. I still do not prefer this as it may not be sustainable because we do not produce it yet, unless Innoson will start producing it but until then. I still prefer manual labor that gets our people employed and it is equally sustainable. As for hazard, there is hazard everywhere, in every job..

i beg to differ. They still work in enugu. They sweep faster and are more effective. They get to the corners of the road that is usually dusty. Most manual laborers just sweep up refuse along the road, this vehicle sweeps up dust and sand

You guys do not get the point. Show me recent one that you have seen sweeping any part of that state? The same reason I said it is not sustainable. It is a good idea but it doesn't make sense when a government buys maybe 2 or 3 and eventually due usage it gets packed up and it's not like we produce these things in Nigeria for now. Until maybe Innoson starts producing it, then and only then can we push our governors in the East to buy them and keep buying because it would have been cheaper than buying overseas. For now manual labor is a better alternative and more sustainable.

Good! Then I hereby move a motion to reduce manual to at least 5% while mechanized takes 95%.

The fact is the colour of the mall is very uninspiring, even the colour of the Ghananian mall posted looks shabby, I will personally recommend the changing of the colour of the mall, as it makes it looks bland. The colour of Westfield mall below should be more appropriate. If you want to be a major player, play in the big league rather than minor league.
Again I disagree with you, I don't even like the color of the Westfield mall you posted. The painting of the onitsha mall is of the best international standard. Where you would have had a point is if it was the interior. The interior should be sparkling and properly lighted. Check out the painting of Walmart and also Enugu Mall

Anambra Earmarks N90m Compensation for Host Communities of Industrial Park

The neighbouring towns of Uga in Aguata Local Government Area and Akwa-Ihedi in Nnewi South Local Government Area, both in Anambra State are the sole beneficiaries of over N90m released by the state government as a compensation for a piece of land designated for the construction of a proposed Industrial Park.

Announcing this in Awka on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Hon. Ifeatu Onejeme explained that the compensation was essentially for communities whose lands have been acquired for the Industrial Park project which is proposed for an expansive spread covering 171 hectares of land.

Hon. Onejeme advised the traditional rulers of the concerned communities nestling between Uga and Akwa-Ihedi towns to reach out to the Ministry of Land, headed by Hon Stella Onuorah to finalize arrangements on the payment of the planned compensation.

Offering insights into the arrangement, Hon Onejeme explained that the proposed Industrial Park was in sync with the overall economic blueprint of the state government which is anchored on Agriculture, Trade and Commerce, Industrialization and Oil and Gas.

“The proposed Industrial Park falls within the ambit of Industrialization which is a major pillar in Governor Obiano’s economic blueprint for the state. The Obiano administration is determined to turn Anambra into a centre of industrial excellence,” Hon Onejeme explained.

According to him, the administration had also perfected plans to provide captive power to industrial clusters to ensure a stable industrial base for the state. He revealed that with the commencement of construction work at the $150m UDIPPCO gas-powered plant at Umerum that would generate 80 mega-wats of electricity, the hope of providing captive power for industries was a realistic one.

“There is also the proposed 100 mega-wats gas-powered electricity plant that is being planned by Falcon Corporation Limited. When these two power plants are fully operational and that is not far from now, Anambra will become the industrial powerhouse that it was meant to be,” he further revealed.

It would be recalled that since he assumed office on March 17, 2014, Governor Willie Obiano has demonstrated his resolve to make Anambra the epicentre of manufacturing and industrial activities east of the Niger.

Accordingly, the administration hopes to make Anambra one of the Top-Three industrial states in the country after Lagos and Ogun States. It seeks to realise this vision in four key ways - creation of modern industrial parks and small-to-medium enterprise clusters, improved drive for investments, better access to financing and capacity building.

Meanwhile, the Obiano administration has so far attracted investments estimated at $3bn out of which the industrial sector alone pooled the sum of $140m.

I was chilling at the very coded garden of Ben Enweonwu Gallery in Ikoyi, when I overheard two guys discussing. What caught my attention was that one is an Awka guy, while the other one is from 'ikwu nne m', Alor. Apparently, the Awka guy has just built a massive house somewhere on the island, cos the Alor guy wanted to know if the Awka guy would build a 'basillica' in Awka, since he built a 'cathedral' in Lagos. But the Awka guy's response broke my heart to pieces. To cut the long story short, the last time the Awka guy stepped foot in the east was almost 10yrs ago, when his dad was buried, and his elder brother was kidnapped at his father's burial. He thinks Awka, and by extension the entire east, is a primitive village full of savages. He said a lot of silly things that got me boiling on the inside, since this was coming from a supoosed 'Nwa afo', and not 'Onye ofe'.

Anyway, I politely introduced myself, and within minutes we were all chatting like old friends. I tried to make him understand that things are not what they used to be, but he just wasn't buying any of it. In other to convince him, I remebered this thread, and got him to open it on his iPad, but this guy hates the word 'Nairaland'; said it's full of jobless bigoted kids. When this thread finally loaded, the few pages at the beginning weren't too impressive, so we had to jump several pages. But sadly, he landed on a page where my man chino and his sworn enemy from our sister state were doing their thing, which left a very bad taste in the mouth.

This encounter reminded me of the fact that the good things that have been happening in Anambra has no serious media coverage. Yes, that issue has been over-flogged here on this thread. But what if Ibeto doesn't invest in the media? what if Chief Mike Nonso Ajegbo continues to allow MINAJ rot away? Are we just going to keep wishing that someone will rise and do it? The guys on this thread have really been doing a wonderful job, but is it really enough? Is it giving Amabra the necessary Media coverage?

I've heard several/different people talk about developing websites that focus on showcasing the developments and good things happening in Anambra, but I'm yet to see any of them. So I've finally decided to take the bull by the horn. I don't just want to talk, but instead act and contribute my own quota.

I wish to develop a website that will focus on the beautiful things and developmental projects going on in Anambra. I have a lot of ideas on how I'd like it to function, like properly tagging pictures, grouping projects according to location, showing industries, schools, showing the wholistic developments going on in Anambra. We'll have a dedicated ideas/suggesion page where 'umu omambala', from across the world, can contribute their ideas. There's a whole lot I can't type here now.

I'm not talking about a project that'll be forgotten after this post, rather a project that should be fully live in about 2weeks time. I know that with the support of all the guys on this thread we can make it happen. Frank's pictures will definitely go a very long way.

What do you guys think?

I love your think home mentality. We need more of you to place Anambra on the number 1 position amongst other states. You have our full support.

Good they are listening to the people on ground not the damned-empty-pocket sycophants.

The undeniable truth is that your State Governor is not only visiting the site, he is a registered and an active contributing member. I will not disclose his user ID though. Anambra can be the best and in the words of Chino, "We want an Independent State of Anambra". A state that all the conterminous states and beyond will be dependent on. It is achievable, please join hands to spread the Light to the Nation and beyond. God Bless You All and Yes, we can

The Nnewi mall project has been on hold or suspension or worst neglect since over 3 months now...
No work going on...
Even on site there are no workers and equipments has been all evacuated...

Somebody should come and clear the air on this...
This is not getting better by the day...
