You can say that since you were safe somewhere when the beast escaped. The lions's majesty was more valuable than the human life he would have killed.

in Kenya where wildlife and tourism is the nation's livelihood this is capital offense for killing wildlife for whatever reason.....am a wildlifer so I no what am saying...instead of killing the lion, a dart gun should have been used to dose him off and then taken back to the park. as simple as that...

I am shocked to the bone marrow that the escaped lion could not be tracked and shot with tranquilizer by the wild life security. This is a clear case of man cruelty to animal, especially coming from a supposedly animal protectionist like this Zoo. A lion that has been in the Zoo since 70s is killed just like that? SMH for Nigeria Wildlife Conservationists

@Seun my sentiments exactly. Tranquilizers darts are very basic. It is shocking. They just killed that animal for nothing. So how do they differ from animal poachers? So sad.

Was about to say the same until I read the part that it was about to attack one of the guys...even with a tranquilizing dart, it would v killed the guy before the tranquilizers would work on it.

if you know the kind suffer suffer that lion must have endured in that zoo,you will realize that the lion will rather die than be taken alive. Next time the lion will ask god not to send it to Nigeria . Naija was a mistake for that king lion

Meanwhile, operators of the park disclosed that the lion was shot after it attempted to attack its rescuers. Hours after the animal escaped from the wildlife park, it was killed by officials of the Operation Safe Haven.
