We should learn to accommodate and not aggravate tension in all we do. Speak politely, shouting at someone would not get him/her do a job better, our tone to replying friends/enemies is crucial. Irrespective of our personality, we should learn not to abuse each other. In Qatar, you would be fine about 200,000 Naira in equivalent for posting a note, picture against someone even if he actually did something wrong. |

Am not a lawyer but it's a common knowledge dat ones someone petitions another and d case goes 2 d court and d court rules against d petition( petitioner), d person( say a senator) being petition can therefore sue d petitioner 4 defamation. It's clearly stated in d const. Dis 1 dey are doing is limiting our basic human right ( freedom of speech) Dis is not Saudi Arabia 1 Like |

Nigerians are yearning for a law that will protect whistle blowers. Our senators are working on a bill to protect the corrupt by muzzling freespeech and public complaints through petition writing. Bulshit. |

Freedom of speech has no problem. Fair comment has no problem. What has problem? Blackmailers who knowingly publish falsehoods. Nigerians making much ado about nothing new. The crimes of criminal libel and criminal defamation have long been entrenched in Nigeria's statute books, as separate and distinct from civil libel and civil defamation. The difference? If anybody makes a false accusation of a criminal offence, that in itself is justiciable as criminal libel or criminal defamation. Checks and balances. |
