as a statistician, I was confused when I came across this calculation in my book :::

4-4/4+3= 1/7... which I can prove right but I was wondering at the same time that 4-4=0, why can't the answer to the previous calculation be 0/7 which should be equal to 0..

guys, what's your say to this?
