You're not more Niger Deltan than me. Port Harcourt is just a city in state. In many areas of most Niger Delta states there is widespread poverty when this shouldn't be the case. That is the truth.

Why shouldn't that be the case when the wealth of the Niger Delta people is being used to sustain the lazy big for nothing three that contributes absolutely nothing even with their large human resources? The leadership of this country, they've held tenaciously unto for years yet they couldn't even lift their own very population/people out of poverty.
The Niger Delta is a child of circumstances and hopefully it must change by any means necessary.

Why Yoruba's Love Nigeria

As it stands currently, the Yoruba’s are biggest beneficiaries of Nigeria. Why, you may ask? Well this is because they own (or claim to own) Lagos.

[s]This thread is purely speculative[/s]

Have a nice night rest. . .
I don't still understand the headache of you ibos,,if yorubas don't own lagos, then who own lagos? Apart from lagos state, can you tell me any other city in africa that is no mans land?

People come into the social media without taking so much time to read the news and watch news stations like aljazeera and CNN to see what is happening in the world today but they love to engage in silly arguments with little or no gain.

If we analyse the country very well and check indices, the north does not have a future. How much can be generated in the north against their ever-growing population and high-level of domestic violence and terrorism. the breaking of this country will end the riches of the north and they will return to their counterparts, Niger Republic. How many billionaires does the north have compared to their number of dependent people. Why are northerners shouting agriculture as if they have better soil than tropical rainforest seen in the east and south south?

what natural resources do they have that will make the world want to invest in their region despite the know terrorism in the north. the north does not and i repeat does not have any resources that will make the world want to run to them except increased dependent population. the north doesnt have any close access to the sea and they dont have anything to compare with the southeast. apart from landmass, there is nothing you can plant in the north that cannot be grown in other parts of the country. so whats the fuss?

the southwest only have one saviour which is lagos. without lagos, ogun state will not be getting any form of investment from investors. so what are we saying. If there will be any mass exodus of people out of lagos to their different region, the death of lagos will be quick and fast because the southwesterners are known to be highly dependent on their government for anything and cannot do anything without money flowing from the government house. check their ministries and see how 10 people will be manning one particular position because they all want to eat from the government. If you have stayed in the southwest, you will know that the flow of currency goes down towards the middle of the month because many people have spent most of their monies in the beginning of the month and there is no purchasing power in the hands of the populace.

So, trying to insult other tribes thinking you are better is like you forgetting where you are coming from. the affluence of few cannot be used to judge the whole population of okada riders and shoe shiners in the different parts of the country. or are you trying to forget the number of water carriers in the different parts of the country?

the igbos are still the only tribe with more evenly spread wealth amongst its populace with little dependence on the government. they also constitute the highest number of people who get money from across the shores of this country. they are also known to be the people who introduced china, lebanese and some other investors to the nigerian market. they also constitute the highest number of non-oil based billionaires in this country. with the back drop of the civil war, they have emerged as one of the highest number of educated people in this country.

if you want to know more, check your different private schools and check the number of igbos who enrolled in those schools and check the number of other tribes there. the igbos just need to get their things together and you will see what will happen in the next 20years. its no boast.

except you dont want to hear the truth, the east is still the only region who have billionaires without affiliation to oil or 1976 nigerianisation policy.

Check all the known markets and industries, you will the igbos thriving there and doing business. it is the igbos that do most of the travelling and bringing different forms of services and goods back to the country. it is the igbos that do most of the local production in this country, ( i am not saying other regions do nothing but igbos do more because they dont have any power up there).

Any provocative statement from an IPOB apologist should not be taken seriously after all when you stroll round the streets of the major cities of Nigeria the kids that have left schools to hawk anything on the streets and on the high ways aren't Niger Deltans but the same Igbos that are better off, richer and well informed.

If you take the number of women lining up on the streets across major cities of this country to sell their body for sex, it is the same Igbos that will beat any other ethnic group with a wide margin of 8 to 2 . Another typical example is the mass exodus of these people from their own homeland to the same land where poverty and backwardness abounds yet we haven't seen our Niger Delta youths travelling to Lagos to become truckpushers the way Northerners are arriving here in their hundreds willing to do any menial job for peanuts.

They can speculate all they want but the truth is that poverty and illiteracy holds sway in all nooks and crannies of this nation with the biggest three taking the major hit, after all by sheer number of their population one do not need a soothsayer to know who's worse off and who's better off

These provocative statements you see here and there is simply a ploy to make the Niger Deltans get angry and join up in their selfish struggle that didn't even get the blessings of their own very elites.
Let them continue deluding themselves. grin

My Thought..

Now, if we analyse this issues very well, you will understand that I have better points than you do.

SW minus lagos has the same number of states as the SE. But when you check the sustainability index, you will see that these eastern states have the ability to stay without government allocation than the southwestern states. check the private sector businesses in the states, you will the igbos adding to your wealth too.

Mr man, the south west has more poverty rate than the east, please dont go there. please before you come to here to argue, check previous nairaland threads and see the poverty rate in the different parts of the country.

what infrastructure does the southwest have that is better than the south east. Just give me one thing that you have that the south east doesnt have. south east has the highest human capital development and the lowest number of youths without jobs.

Give me one reason to tell me that the south west soil is better than the south east. you have the tropical rainforest in the southwest and i have thesame tropical rainforest in the south east.

list the natural resources in the south west that can wow the world and let me give you one that can wow you the world in the east.

I do not blame them at all but I blame all the gluttons like Asari Dokubo and all the charlatans that hijacked the genuine struggle of the Niger Delta people to enrich themselves.

I do not blame them at all but I blame all the Niger Delta myopic politicians and Governors like Odili and Amaechi including all the thieves that have managed the NDDC who felt that the only way to become relevant in this cesspit called 'one Nigeria' is to play along using our money meant for our self development and sustainability after oil to go on a wild goose chase.
I do not blame them but I blame all the parents that birthed all the people that have decided to be used by these poiticians to cause mayhem chasing away investors and plunging the entire region into oblivion.

I for once will never blame these three big parasites, but the truth remains that a day will come when the real Niger Deltans will rise up and demand for accountability from our own elites and the oppressive Nigerian state and we will do it by any means necessary at all cost.Nigeria has date with reality it is just a matter of time.

its a lie. Lagos has the highest crime rate in nigeria and enugu has the lowest. Do you recall when apc protesters burnt luxury buses belonging to an igbo transporter earlier this year?

If peace is the factor why are other places in SW that are more peaceful than lagos still villages?

The truth is lagos enjoys special attention from fg govt starting from colonial times till now. Should the seaport in portharcourt or onitsha stop being a subject of politics, lagos will suffer. Which is why you guys hold on to one nigeria.

Coming to leadership sw has the worst in the country save fayose. Lagos has the largest dept profile despite huge revenue, what of osun? The leadership in the east is the most visionary but seems emasculated by fg's policies and u know that.

I also heard you mentioning disposable income in Sw. That is a height of delusion! Sw is the most impoverished region aside north. Why do you thing ibadan oshgbo abeokuta are slums while enugu onitsha aba owerri ph awka and asaba are bubbling?

as for dangote, we dont beg for his investment he knows that too. He also knows he would be outcompeted hence he conspired with obj to shut down ibeto plant in ph.
