Removal and construction of new stair

the stair at the front prior to removal.
type of stair: dog leg stair case
reason for removals includes:
1. uneven riser
2. waist too thin ( waist shouldn't be less than 150mm)
3.uneven thread
4. Half of the stair is a ramp and make movement impossible

Re: Harney Project Renovation Work Of A Nairalanders Massive Family House by podosci(m): 11:21pm On Dec 08, 2015
Re modification of Existing Windows
The windows are approximately 76 in number with varying dimensions of 800mm x 800mm, 1200mm x 1200mm,1500mm x 1200mm, 1800mm x1200mm of the louver type of windows. The re modification was brought about by modernization of the existing windows style and ultimately the clients drive towards the beautification of the structure as a whole.
The new windows are to be made of aluminium casement windows with varying dimensions of 600mm x 900mm, 1500mm x 750mm and 600mm x 2100mm.
Removal of existing louver windows took 2days @ N200 per windows
Several brick layers were employed for the modification of the windows with sandcrete blocks to achieve the desired dimensions.

Window modification, construction of new stair, partition removal and addition of partitions were all grouped under 'All masonry work before concrete fascia /roof.

A lot of attention and care was put into all these work to make sure that the building is safe atructurally from any modifications.

The Harney team were always on site to guild the technical and artisans alike to achieve a beautiful structure/building that the client will like and that can fetched us more job in future.

At Harney project, our policy is a handsone project to always be on site at any time, we are young and eager to established ourself.
Re: Harney Project Renovation Work Of A Nairalanders Massive Family House by abdulwastecx(m): 4:00am On Dec 09, 2015
After all these masonry work, we then proceed to the construction of the concrete fascia at these points we stumble on a very vital information about the structural configuration of existing building.

The existing building was about 25years old built entirety with non hollow sancrete block, with only column on the ground floor.

The slab act with the column like a flat slab and also act directly on the partition walls, making the wall to be non load bearer.

Due to the above structural issues with the building, the fascia of 450mm - 600mm need to be very light so that the torsional moment on the upper walls will be minimal.

At these point we have three options of concrete fascia
The options are as follows
1. Reinforced concrete fascia
2. precast concrete fascia
3. Polystyrene concrete fascia

We have some set of constraints while considering these options, our constrain are as follows
1. Speed of job because we need to roof the building as soon as possible due to excessive rain on the building
2. Cost of the fascia because we need a relatively cheap/affordable fascia
3.durability because we need fascia that will stand the test of time
4. Finally, beauty aesthetics because we need a facial that will come out beautiful.

The choice of fascia was purely down to those aforementioned reasoned. At the end we were in a dilemma of either using precast fascia or polystyrene fascia.

The client wasn't really conversant with the polystyrene fascia and we need a lot of discussion and persuasion to make him get comfortable with the polystyrene fascia.

The choice of polystyrene over precast fascia were due to very light weight, speed and flexibility.
The major problem with precast is it is not that flexible because of the weight and such make lifting very difficult. Precast can also be time consuming

The composition of the fascia includes
The head beam and the polystyrene fascia.

The head beam is 15mm x 225mm
Thhe polystyrene fascia is 450mm x 450mm

Steps follow to calculate the quantity of polystyrene needed
The roof perimeter was estimated to be 110 m
The number of Valley and ridges were noted to be 7 and 10 respectively,
Each of the ridge is 1.2m while the valley is 0.6m
The ridge is added to the actual perimeter while the the valley is subtracted from the actual perimeter

Q = P +(n x R) - (n' x V)
Q = quantity of polystyrene needed
P = building perimeter
n =number of ridges
n' = number of Valley
V = Valley
R= ridges

this is nice.
are the valleys and ridges also included in the fascia or roof?
