No need to be worried, u will likely hear from the pg school next and not the dept. Most likely if that's all the assessment they will conduct for you, the next is to compile admission list and send it to pg school who will contact you next.

Hello nairalanders! I have been invited for an interactive session in the dept of Pharmacognosy UI on 9th Dec, 2015. I live as far as Benue. I have also been offered admission to study the same course at Uni Uyo though I am the only one admitted in the department. I seriously wonder how I would cope alone in an M.Sc class. My preference is Uni Uyo becos of Job opportunities though I am still considering UI even though it will be difficult to be able to attend the interactive session. I just need some advice to make my final decision. If you were the one, where would you go? Uni Uyo or UI?

I'd advise you to stick with Uyo. The school is solid with a good research base. The programme is far more robust than that of U.I. to be honest. Ibadan sits on old glory. Ibadan is good but only for those who go there for its name. If you want good education, there are other choices. I wanted to apply there but I decided to stick with Uyo. Your being the only admitted student means things will be easy for you. You'd receive lectures at your convenience and no one will drag you back. You'd be lucky enough to finish even in less than 18months with a proper parole with the staff.
Uyo is a neat and decent city. The school, though not a 1st generation one like Ibadan, has a good standard and its certificate is deemed to be on par with the so-called 1st generation varsities.
I chose Uyo. I'm done with screening. I don't regret it one bit. I suggest you do the same.

Serious problem now...I've done my Interview already...but it was later I realised my transcript not found anymore at UI coz I reapplied ds year hoped they will be able to retrieve it but eventually told I have to reapply for it and that was after I've done my interview...so I ve to reapply for it since 23rd last month and I was told they will send it nxt year january that there's nothg they can do abt it in my schl. That those that even applied september, october, november...say na next year dey re sending everything...and I heard this admission list coming out soon...sey ds thg never Bleep me up again like thiss please all comment an this abeg...I'm so perplexed on this now...I've begged them a lot this time to jst manage assist help me send it...dey said I'm not d only one.

Try to make adequate enquiries if ur school have options for e-transcript that could be sent via e-channels. UI has an email address where ur school can send ur transcript, it should be faster, but that's only if ur school can utilise such a channel.

Why don't you just tell them to prepare it and you will send it your self to UI. Because since it has been issued to you before it will take them nothing to recreate. Above all find small money dash them.

They even refused to give student copy...they told me they were dealing with ds nysc stuff before now they re thru with dem. So they said its transcript turn that by january all will get to where they requested to b sent to. I wnt dash dem chipz dey told me dey can't lie to me say dey av to b sincere

Abeg sey e no go late or won't affect this admission

Hope it won't be late by january as the school I've said they re sending it January. And please can they giv admission without recommendation...and can't they jst send me recommendation at least...they should knw the transcript will still get to their school in UI.

Hope it won't be late by january as the school I've said they re sending it January. And please can they giv admission without recommendation...and can't they jst send me recommendation at least...they should knw the transcript will still get to their school in UI.

Like I said just cool down (Tho its hard to do I know) but its not too late in january. PG sch will only send your recommendation mail after they have seen your transcript. Well another meaning to that recommendation mail is that you have been admitted, before you can proceed to other thing. Not eveerybody will be recommended at once..... It also depends on how fast each department send their list to PG sch. So you may be suprised you even get ur mail before some that have submitted transcript way long before you. But don't forget they must see ur transcript before they send you mail. When I had same issue, others already received their mail and I didn't see mine I went to my dept, d pg cord. checked my name and said they av sent it with others to the PG sch. I got to PG sch and d woman in charge showed me my name on system but insisted she must see transcript before recommendation mail can be sent. Then.. I tot I was losing the admission, but now I see their is nothing to be worried about. Like I said, the admission process as a whole a "long thing" so it won't be late

Officially, PG students are suppose to resume 2wks after undergraduate according to the school calender, but for fresh Msc students, this is not realistic because of the admission process, some dept are just too slow in sending names of admitted students to PG sch for recommendation, and that is just d 1st of the "many" things in the admission process.... Doing your clearance is another big deal and the rest. So before you can settle down at all for classes may be like March if am not mistaken (mind you I may not be right this time) but during my time, my dept. was part of the 1st to start class(if not the 1st), we started April. So you know what I mean? Yours may be faster dis year tho. But just know you can't escape that suspense. They sure know how to put pple in suspense here. Cheers

Very Helpful comments @Angeltolly... In food technology dept we had a test but it was nothing to right home about Infact we/I have not heard from the dept as regards the scores in the test... in this case what do you think would be our fate as regards admission? I'm terribly disturbed
