thanks alot sir.
i am proposing concrete
You are welcome Sir!

Concrete is Better!
Dont forget to include "Expansion Joints", as you do a Modular concreting, say every 1M interval

No inclusion leads to 'cracks" as time goes-by.

Yes, you can use wood, spacing of 20 mm would be ideal.

As i said ealier its a matter of choice .i don't see any advantage or disadvantage in tiling up to 6~7 ft moreover the average height of man is not up to 7ft so i don't see how splashes can mess up the upper portion of the wall .

i grew up in a flat with the bathroom tiled up only from under the window downward (5 feet) and it doesn't look dirty and my current bathroom doesn't even have a single tile and doesn't look dirty either. it's just a matter of choice and pocket size. what i would never have in my house is tiles on the bathroom floor.

Without a single tile' that don't sound good. Your wall will end up soaked up and weakened by action of water and detergent, it may also messed up other side of wall paint

it's a rented apartment, the point is that you don't need tiles to maintain a clean bathroom.

My Ogas at the top.

I have been reading a lot about American panel doors, does anyone have any practical experience of them ?
I like them for their practicality and most importantly cost.
I have been hearing from a trusted source that they tend to start falling apart with locks, handles issues. I would like to hear from someone who has used them or have any tips. The reason why i am considering american panel doors is mainly because of the hassle of wooden doors (buy door separate, construct frame separate, spray, buy locks separate) just so many things that can go wrong.

One thing I noticed with most of these metal doors is that the lower/bottom part of the frame which one steps on starts to fall apart when its being stepped upon regularly especially in high traffic areas. Is there anything that can be done to avoid this, one advantage of wooden doors is that it doesn't have that metal thing that you step your feet on, the door frame is only 3 sides and not a rectangle which is 4 sided.

The door below is the American panel doors that EMEL sell, complete with frame/locks etc 15k which isn't a bad deal.

Thank you.

Another quick question (excuse my ignorance). Is it now customary to tile the whole kitchen/bathroom?

In my young days and in some other parts of the world they tile 3/4 lenght (except in the shower) which is fully tiled to ceiling but I notice here that whole kitchens/bathrooms are tiled from ground to top.

You can do half way, or go full wall as you desire, na choice and the size of your wallet cheesy

What are these panel doors made of? Iron/steel or wood, etc.?

So, if you will never have tiles in your bathroom floor; what do you intend to use on the floors, just bare concrete?

When i first heard American panel doors as well, my face screw because I thought the person imported it from USA, I was like this is a no no no, I am not importing doors for USA for any tenant. Actually, its just called American panel doors but they are made in China of cheap light steel.
I feel the attraction is just because it comes with the whole package, i.e frame / doors / locks. I have however heard that the cylinders are not so good, so one should change them. I am kind of ready to take my chances with it because why fix the cylinder when it has not broken.

Also the sellers do not want the ones that came with the doors back, so in my case where I need loads of doors, I will now be left with a lot of cylinders. The guy I was speaking to said i can dash someone, I was like its not xmas yet, whilst we may be in Christmas month, it doesn't mean that I am father xmas. I no get red outfit and long white beard !! lol

yes, bare cement plaster on a concrete floor, since tiling of bathroom floors became fashionable in Nigeria, the number of bathroom slip and fall accidents have increased astronomically, i once read somewhere that about one person dies everyday in America from slip and fall on a wet tiles floor.

OK.. Just another name for the Chinese Metal door. If the quality is good, there should be no problem.
But I have heard horror stories about those Chinese Metal doo locks... even Spyder talked about it. Just get good locks for them.

There are different kinds of floor tiles for bathroom that will not be slippery. Try those embossed kind and you should be fine.
Concrete floor in bathroom is as dangerous too.

There are "Non-Slip" FLOOR Tiles whose surface texture is no smoother (and No less dangerous) than a Cement floor such that the danger you are exposed to, is same as using a Cement floor.

But there is further advantage to these Tiles in that they are "easier to clean and more aesthetically pleasing" than bare Cement floor.

Baba Latis are building my house.

We've had our issues but all in all I'm good with the cost factor they offer but they won't get involved in the finish though.
