federal government termed the struggle "legitimate "

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/fg-terms-pro-biafra-protest-completely-legitimate/227343/

The "protest" is legitimate. We are in a democracy that allows freedom to gather.
I don't think the federal government said the "movement/actualization" is legitimate. Also, I believe they clearly said Kanu was uttering terroristic threats in his broadcasts hence the illegitimacy.
Re: Nairaland Says No To Secessionists by paris10: 4:18pm On Dec 10, 2015
@Seun. Delete this thread and apologise to all of us. You got a lil bit carried away... thats understandable. Let people protest and air their opinions. This is not Iran or some totalitarian country where fear is instilled in the heart of people.

No one wants secession but it comes with territory. This is even the best platform for the Igbos to educate people on why they want a republic. It's harmless and neither to say, faceless.

Buhari is the President and you know he won't honour the request. I believe Biafra will happen when an Igbo man becomes president or vice. We are talking 20 years to come.

Odua is the progenitor(Oduduwa) of Yoruba land. Arewa is a translation for North. The ss can express their freedom of speech with Gusu, a translation for South. The se can switch over to Kwenu, a popular acting connotation attributable to Igbo people. We can proceed to find better description for the nc, sc and ne if we surrender Arewa to the exclusive use of the nw. Let us play along the games/ of politics with these better nicknames and remain Nigerians. God bless Nigeria and Nigerians.

I agree that people should be free to express their opinion- devoid of hate speech but Stop saying this rubbish, Yoruba's aren't scared of Biafra.

Yeah right!
Tell that to thousands of them in this site getting worked up whenever Biafra is mentioned.
Igbos are indispensable and every Yoruba knows that.. But you guys prefer to live in denial.
Christmas holidays is a big example.

Mr Seun, I perfectly understand your position. I agree you're the CEO of Nairaland, you create the rules and regulations.

I'll comply as long as my remain open here.

But remember. Nothing can stop an idea whose tine has come. Until this nation addresses the myriads of lies and subterfuge crafted into its Constitution- subterfuge that ensures the growth and sustenance of one region to the detriment of another, issues of secession won't cease.

Nigeria has a date with the truth.

Fellow Nairalanders,

Nairaland loves Igbos and Niger Deltans very much. The thought of being separated from them for any reason is unbearable to us, so we have decided that we will reject any attempt by anyone to use Nairaland to promote the idea of removing Igbos and Niger Deltans from Nigeria.

We have updated rule 9 of Nairaland to reflect this decision. It now says:

I'd like to urge all Nairaland members to respect and obey rule 9. Mynd44 is in charge of enforcing it. If you break this rule, you'll be banned.

Thanks,
Seun (Founder Of Nairaland).

A very good decision by Seun. Seeing these biafran nonsense on this section is really horrid. You call Nigeria a zoo, fine, then why use a Zoo platform in making your biafra call?
The Biafran agitators should go and create either Biafraland forum or igboforum. Its as simple as that.
You ask them to go and create an igboforum and at the same time want them to remain in Nigeria?

I think this is a good move. The singular reason I deactivated my previous Nairaland account and rarely visited when I opened this was because of this tribalism nonesense. Freedom of speech should not make this honorable website a haven for rude trolls.

And it goes for the non biafran people too. Everyone should quell this marginalization, ethnocentric and tribalistic madness once and for all.

Dear Mr Seun(Founder, NAIRALAND),
Thank you for creating a forum where Nigerians, and others irrespective of location, religion, tribe, socioeconomic status or other affiliations could interact. This singular act has earned you a place among Nigeria's greats.

However, your latest post though patriotic in nature may seem shallow in the light of logic. I may not understand the depth of your love for country and commitment to her continued existence, but to allow such 'patriotic zeal' to overshadow the freedom of expression, association and other fundamental human rights is illogical.

Though your decision on nairaland is binding and unquestionable, and which in all sincerity should not please all, decision making must be a well thought one. You barely gave cogent reason(s) in your post other than patriotism. Please be reminded that the Arab spring and other new age 'revolutions' started on social media. Your stand on this Biafra issue and others in my opinion should be one of fostering unity in diversity through the instruments of dialogue, compromise and maturity, etc. It's called fair processes.

I am not asking you to rescind on your decision. It takes a real man to make one. Am on appealing for caution in the enforcement of this new rule. I believe you, the moderators and other Patriots could better use this forum to enlighten our Biafra agitators on the need for us to remain United. You may not win in this 'war'(no one ever wins in an argument), however, someday posterity will remember you for the true patriot you are. I remain loyal to the terms of engagement on Nairaland. Thanks.

This guy said it all.. If i had 9 medals to give.. i'd give you 10.. well said..

I personally think this country should divide. I'm always disgusted by d tripe IgboS spew all over d internet. Why should I have to live in d same country wt them?

I think u should go wt wole Soyinka on this issue seun.

Peaceful dissolution is possible. Ecspecially when everyone is sick of each other as we so clearly are. Pple forget d hausas were d first to bring up seccession in d 60's, after nzeogwus coup. They wanted to leave.

The only problem I foresee wt peaceful dissolution is DT it will be replicated along tribal lines all over Africa. The west will not want DT.

There was no oil boom when they wanted to leave... It was some foreign guys that advised them not to secede.

Seun, your submission is irrational, illogical and inciting. You just ignorantly broke your Nairaland Rule Nos 2 and 3 below while trying to adjust Rule No 9 to suit your selfishness.

Rule No 2 & 3:
"2. Don't abuse, bully, deliberately insult/provoke, fight, or wish harm to Nairaland members OR THEIR TRIBES.
3. Don't threaten, support or DEFEND violent acts against any person, tribe, race, animals, or group (e.g. rape)."

How did you break the rule?
You did by abusing and deliberately insulting the tribe of the Igbos and Niger Deltans who are members of Nairaland.
"Promoting the idea of removing the Igbos and Niger Deltans from Nigeria" does it infringe on your fundamental right? Are these tribes not entitled to their freedom of thought, speech and association? Why limit and threaten a tribe because you have a social media platform to do so?

This post of yours suggests you are still more than a century backward in your reasoning. I read your post in total shock and disappointment having placed you above your true mental worth.

Why?
Since 2009 till date, how many threads have you created against Boko Haram apologists?
And lately how many against our Fulani herdsmen?

So what justifies your conclusion? Are Biafra promoters violent? Think again Seun.
