funny thing is that the igbos had a site that was rivalling nairaland in popularity around 2005 - 2006. in fact it was more popular. i used to visit the site. very addictive. it was owned by an igbo guy based in new york. i forget his name now. he was a programmer. the site was called NAIJARYDERS. but you know like anything that is china made, anything that is igbo made dont last lol. he probably didnt have the foresight seun has by holding onto the site when money was not yet coming in. you know our boys from the east like the cash quick and fast. but i am telling you the site was more popular than nairaland. on a thread you may get like 200 people or more. well the igbo guy just abandon the site and and it folded.

I actually would like to buy Nairaland. I have made similar inquiry in the past but have been met with silence. I think Nairaland can be much more that it is currently and I have robust ideas in terms of scaling the business. If anyone here knows what the ideal forum to post this in or how to reach this Seun guy or if he is reading this post, please reach out to me and let's talk business. My email is whirlout@yahoo.com.

You go ban tire na. So what happens to freedom of expression and beliefs? So Yorubas are free to aspire and promote their Odua beliefs and Hausas, Arewa but Igbos of course are to be banned to talk or aspire for their beliefs in Biafra. Highly disappointed in you Seun.

What stops you from coming up with a superior argument why they should remain in Nigeria? Why are you so scared to discuss Biafra? Must we all have the same line of thoughts or intellectual discourse? I reject being or tagged a zombie where a fellow man will dictate what I discuss.

He has a right to decide what he wants on his site. Besides he's preaching love with it. You think the igbos making money in Lagos want all that Biafra yarns? You don't even sit down to think that u Biafra proponents are actually puppets in the hands of some moneybags who want to be bosses in a new Biafra to do repeatedly was has been don in Nigeria. They just wanna do what they can't achieve in Nigeria. So they push unguys forward. Anyways Biafra is not happening so let's not waste too much spit.

Fellow Nairalanders,

Nairaland loves Igbos and Niger Deltans very much. The thought of being separated from them for any reason is unbearable to us, so we have decided that we will reject any attempt by anyone to use Nairaland to promote the idea of removing Igbos and Niger Deltans from Nigeria.

We have updated rule 9 of Nairaland to reflect this decision. It now says:

I'd like to urge all Nairaland members to respect and obey rule 9. Mynd44 is in charge of enforcing it. If you break this rule, you'll be banned.

Thanks,
Seun (Founder Of Nairaland).

@Seun

Let me add that you should have employed a PR specialist to advice you on this. Your tittle should appear neutral even if you had something else in mind.

It shouldn't have been addressed to any specific tribe or group. It should have simply said,

Dear Nairalanders,

Nairaland is devoted to promoting Nigeria as a single indivisible entity. As such we do not subscribe to being used to promote any secessionist theory or goal.

To this end all posts that promote division or session in whatever form will no longer be allowed on Nairaland, as it goes against our values. This new rule will therefore affect all calls for Biafra, Oodua Republic, Niger Delta Republic, Arewa Republic etc

Violation of this new rule will attract an automatic ban.

Thank you for understanding and I hope your stay on Nairaland continues to be fun, engaging and insightful.

God Bless Nairaland, God Bless Nigeria.

Wishing the best of the Season and a wonderful 2016.

Seun

Sister no vex oo, but I can't see any atom of intelligence in the way he communicated it. He just sounded like someone who wants to say sth but lacks the proper words to pass it across. Lame. dts the word I will use to describe that. he should hv given some good reasons for his decision, rather than sounding like someone who is trying to avoid sth.

This is just wrong! Just as there are Igbo who are pro-Biafra, there are many more who are also pro-Nigeria and until Nigeria is restructured in such a way that everyone is made to feel at home, agitations of this nature would simply not vanish.

OP should reconsider his stand. It is more realistic to ban insulting comments, or comments that promote violence, call to arms etc than to ban comments promoting Biafra. If we pause and reflect, we would realize that a nuclear armed Soviet union disintegrated without firing a single shot.
Seun is a closed minded classless slave. I have never been involved with the the Biafran struggle, the endless tribal debates or exchange of insults...save for occasional trolling on Bullhary grin grin cheesy but this is getting too much.

Let them agitate for whatever they want. All I know is, Biafra is dead on arrival. We Igbos are not united as Nigerians, what more as Biafrans?

#Unitymustbeachieved.
You are right but look closely, most igbo speaking tribes outside anambra, imo, enugu, abia n ebonyi claim not to be igbos even though they bear igbo names n speak d language. The main igbos themselves became dis united why? This all started after d war, in bid to prevent future break out this dis unity n denial was created by nigerian troops (just lije d biblical tower of babel saga) and this has begin to die-out thus the new unity n agitation if biafra, that's why nigeria is afraid.
