Appeal court has not decided Sen Akpabio's case as yet. Senator Akpabio remains Senator, no manipulation can change that.

It is nothing but lies from the Sahara Reporters. On the contrary, the Minority Leader of the Senate has not been sacked by any Appeal court, and has no reason to be so sacked. As I'm talking to you the philanthropist extra-ordinaire is busy feting with the less privileged as a mark of appreciation to God for his many blessings.

This is just another lie from SAHARA REPORTERS. The mod should do the needful so as not to join SAHARA REPORTERS in misleading Nigerians

Appeal Court To Deliver Ruling On Senate Minority Leader’s Election Dec 12

The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja may deliver its ruling on the election of the Senate Minority Leader and former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio in two weeks, it was learnt yesterday.

Abuja Division of the Appeal Court, according to information obtained from court authorities, the appeal filed by Chief Inibehe Okori of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the judgement of the Akwa Ibom State National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja, would be dispensed with on December 12.

The Akwa Ibom National Assembly Election Tribunal had upheld the disputed March 28, 2015 Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district election which declared Sen. Akpabio winner with 422,009 out of the alleged 444,505 votes cast in an election where 205,519 voters were alleged by the appellant to accredited.

The tribunal had ruled that Akpabio’s election was in “substantial compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act”.

According to sources in the Appeal Court, the panel may have fixed December 12 to give judgement on the case. In a notice of appeal before the Court of Appeal, the appellant submitted that being dissatisfied with the decision of the Hon. Justice Goddy Anunihu led tribunal of October 14, 2015, he sought to appeal the judgement of the tribunal on seven grounds. He listed the grounds of appeal to include:

Reliefs from the appellate court setting aside of the judgement of the Trial Tribunal and an order entering judgement in favour of the Petitioners / Appellants with regards to all the reliefs contained in the petition.

According to Okori’s brief of argument, “The main grouse of the appellant in this matter revolved around two solid contentions. The first grouse is that the 1st Respondent did not meet the stipulation of section 65(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) as to the qualification of a candidate to contest for an election as a member of the senate.
