ochuciano:
The impression being conveyed is that I was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and I failed to honour the invitation or even respond by letter to the invitation.
On the contrary, nothing could be further from the truth. On the 24th of November 2015, I was informed at about 4pm that a letter of invitation had been dropped at my home in Warri, inviting me to EFCC’s office in Lagos by 10am on the 25th of November 2015.
I responded by a letter from my Solicitors, Messrs Jakpa, Edoge & Co. The letter dated 25th of November 2015 was received by one Uduak Ouot, a staff of EFCC on the 3rd of December 2015, after several attempts to deliver. I have proof of delivery from the courier company.
I was therefore not a little surprised that the EFCC – an otherwise reputable institution – would stoop so low as to lie to Nigerians.
As my Solicitor’s letter indicated I am already in court with the EFCC in Suit No: FHC/W/CS/152/2015. EFCC had been served with the court processes since 20th of October 2015 but they refused to attend court on several occasions, or to file any court papers, only to appear for the first time on 30th November 2015 without filing any court papers. They even asked for the matter to be adjourned to 17th December 2015, the date they are now inviting me to appear before them.
In fact, EFCC only invited me two months AFTER I sued them. In my Solicitor’s letter I informed them that as soon as the court decides one way or another, I would honour their invitation.
So the attempt to harass me by their reminder of 9th December 2015, which was leaked to the media on the 10th of December 2015 , the same day as it was delivered to my house in Warri is an unnecessary and face saving effort at brinksmanship.
As a full blooded Ijaw man and citizen of Nigeria, I have done everything in my power to follow the laws of Nigeria. Since the amnesty declared in 2009 by late President Yar’ Adua I have strained myself to ensure that we all live in peace in this country. Those who think they can push us to war must rethink the necessity of such a war.
How can a law-abiding Government declare a man wanted who is in the law courts with them?
They froze our business accounts since August 4th 2015, but we have not quarrelled with anybody. We sued them to court, they refused to come to court. Now they are threatening to declare me wanted.
I know why they are after me. It is not the alleged multi-billion naira property transaction. Afterall, it went through due process and was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC). And as such if there are any questions to answer, it is the people at the FEC, Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Federal Ministry of Lands and Survey, Federal Ministry of Transport, NIMASA, etc who approved the transaction that should be answering such questions.
The real reason this All Progressive Congress (APC)-led Government is after me is that I bluntly refused to join APC and to support their Governorship candidate in Bayelsa State. We cannot all be in APC. Our people have always believed in the Nigerian project and had always hoped to join hands with this administration to move this project forward, but the conditions being attached are not acceptable. I insist on believing in the Nigerian project unconditionally!
We will continue to pursue our court case. The threat to declare me wanted is an unnecessary attempt to heat up the polity. I will go about my daily business, usual.
Finally, let me say this: if people can come from Sokoto, Katsina or Lagos to campaign in Bayelsa, why can’t I, a full blooded Ijaw man, go to my Bayelsa to campaign?
I will only add this: let the will of the people of Bayelsa prevail. Nobody should attempt to force the outcome of the election. We have kept faith with our promise to Nigeria, we expect no less from this country. So if anyone tells you that Tompolo is on the run, tell him Tompolo is not going anywhere.
Thank you!
Signed
High Chief Government Ekpemupolo.

Young man, calm your nerves. I didn't say you have enjoyed anything under buhari. I don't support no one not buhari not GEJ.

My statement was "like you enjoyed better times during the last administration".

It was under GEJ they named nigeria the worse place on earth for a baby to be born. Don't let hate cloud your heart, if you put you life in the hands of any politician, my brother, you are on a long thing.

Yes now, Buhari needed Tompolo to join the APC so as to appoint him as the Chief of Naval Staff in view of his dexterity at guerrilla warfare in the creeks and the efficient manner he's been managing the multi-million dollar pipeline surveillance contract. He'd surely make an outstanding Naval Chief........People Being Absent Minded since 1900

When I read comments here it gives worries the kind of people we are as a country. I said in the other trend which claimed Tompolo was hinding in bayelsa that our Govt does nt play by the rules but expect the citizens 2 obey the rules. In develope countries not even the president breaks the law and goes free. He has clarified it here that his account was frozen and he sue the Govt for the action but rather than respond they are inviting him 2 Lag same way OBJ invited. Asari 2 Abj then the rest was story? The Gov should respond to his lawyers and follow the rule of law nt a different set of rules 4 different occasions.
The same FG is say Okonjo Iwella released Abachas loot without appropriation but forget it also released bail out fund without appropriation too. All this media justice is to divert attention to their lack of preparedness to the task @ hand but 2016 is some days away and the ball would start rolling then we would see who is whom the shielded thief called noise makers or the prosecuted thief in. Custody.
Since August EFCC didn't invite Tompolo after freezing his accounts but when APC now sees it can't win Bayelsa even with their so called federal might they are inviting Tompolo 4 land he sold to FG (hahahahahahahahahaha) I laugh in Ijaw. He has told ya all he is in Bayelsa so if the FG has guts as ya all trying to insinuate on this trend (New sheriff on the block, bla bla bla) it should go to bayelsa and arrest Tompolo or let's be clear on the matter come and rig the bayelsa elections for APC let's see

These politicians and looters know your language and best meal - bigotry and sentiment. He should just be ready to face the music. Lawyers and corrupt Judges should just be careful, nobody can restrain EFCC from investigating any corrupt individual, organisation or entity. This is well settled in law. Every corrupt individual will surely play ethnic and political card. Though I saw intelligent approach in his to buy time but the earlier the better. I understand the need to brag that he his untouchable and all. However, let me tell you some home truths.

The reason the Niger Delta agitations were previously successful is simple. They won the sympathy of other Nigerians, ie, other Nigerians were even fighting the FG on their behalf cos of the atrocities that were committed in the ND in the name of extracting oil.

However, that public goodwill is no longer there since Nigerians now know that the militants were only doing it for the money they can get in their accounts. Start another militancy and most Nigerians will demonize them giving the military the excuse they need to actually deal with the menace once and for all. I'll have you know that the people who will suffer at the end of the day will be ordinary Niger-Deltans who would become IDPs just like what is going on in the North East today.

Tompolo may seem untouchable today, but I assure you, he's not above the Nigerian constitution. All that is required is for the DSS to be interested in his case and he's as good as being behind bars. All this braggadocio is stunt pulling. Don't be fooled.

The question we should ask him is if truly there is any truth in what he's being accused of and not this deflecting to APC ish.

If you have nothing to hide I don't see why you can't answer EFCC invitation instead of claiming to be the Lord of the Manor.

PS: Please stop mentioning Buhari in the same sentence with Tompolo. Buhari is the President of Nigeria and that office demands every iota of respect. Please what position does mr Government hold?

What exactly did the Nigerian people do to help the MEND force in the past? Was our goodwill what gave them the guts, bought them weapons or what kept them on their grounds? Stop speaking like a kid. Like the Nigerian army never tried smoking them out on several occasions without succeeding. The situation is more complicated. Engaging BH in open field is even unattainable for the NA and you are talking about leaving their way in the creeks, fighting on and in water, shooting close to petroleum pipes and oil rigs. Better wake up from your childish slumber. Am sure you never heard of the support from Russia, China, and the middle east. Until Nigeria has another source of income, don't ever pray buhari gets confused enough to engage them because what binds the country will be taken away. Like the adage that says " you don't hit a Tse-tse fly that perches on your scrotum with force"

State your arguments without making snide remarks.

Nigerian didn't fight the government using guns but they did spoke with something called PUBLIC OPINION. Compare and contrast public opinion on ND militants before the amnesty and Boko haram.

Lets agree that the ND militants have guns and what nots and are to return to the creeks, pray tell, who are they going to hurt the most? The average Nigerian who doesn't even feel a dime of the 'oyel' money, the guys (politicians) with oil wells and international oil drilling firms in the ND, or the rank and file of ND who don't have weapons and who would likely be cannon fodder for any kind of military situation that may erupt?

You may not like Buhari but please look past him and be objective. Why should some set of individuals hold the country to ransom? What are the laws for if individuals like Tompolo can't be summoned by the EFCC (whether that is right or wrong) simply because he's an ex-militant? Hope you haven't forgotten that the EFCC derives its power from the Nigerian constitution? Where does Tompolo derive his power from? From being a militant? Another Shekau?

And you mention support from China and Russia? Guy, don't tell me you are one of those who believe in all that fairy tale? No responsible foreign government will declare support for militants so far the Nigerian central government still exists. Who do you think is selling arms to the Nigerian government? Militants can buy arms too but only on the black market and definitely not on the scale of the Army. Even with all the corruption and starving of funds and Dasuki, the Nigeria Army still has more weapons at its disposal than the ND militants or boko haram combine.

No one prays for the return of militancy but then people shouldn't make themselves into some kind of demi-gods just cos they once fought against the govt establishment. Mark my words, a return to militancy does not favour anyone including Tompolo in any way.

The problem with EFCC is the center of all the problems in Nigeria. Individuals see certificates as titles, acquire as many as possible but when challenged in real life scenarios, they cannot apply their knowledge.

EFCC lawyers are not any better than paralegals. Some of them have Masters in Law but cannot effectively prosecute any case. They mess up the whole judicial process, creating rooms for unscrupulous albeit smart lawyers to beat them on technicalities.

So Tompolo's entrance into d APC in Bayelsa State would hv negated d influence of d thousands of supporters PDP/Dickson has in d State, and thus cause Sylva to an d election? I hv never seen a more stupid excuse for dodging a purely legal matter. It then means all d Ijaws combined are a bunch of nitwits with no sense of direction, who must take orders from a former warlord be to able to get their direction. APC does not need To polo to win elections, not in Bayelsa, and certainly not anywhere. Let him face his personal problems squarely rather than making himself into a kind of overseer of d Ijaw people, and trying to drag d whole Ijaw nation into it. This grand standing will not help him.
