Only in wildest dream, my friend. GEJ, being a former C-in-C can not be publicly questioned. His government can be probed but he won't be the one in jail, his former aides maybe.wink

But he can answer and should answer to a special panel of inquiry to unravel the truth. It can be held off camera to honour him but if found guilty what honour are we speaking about. He must be held accountable. As the Head of State and Government responsibility ultimately rests on his laps.

I've got only one question, how come all such news are carried by the Nation only?
As in ehn,i tire too..if not the nation it'd be sahara reporters.Notice how none of these are ever reported on TV? And no actions has been taken to bring the perpetrators of this these revelations to book once and for all,we are only fed with media confessions on a daily basis.

This news is as fake and poorly cooked as it can get.

I have been a quiet observer in this forum until Seun banned freedom of speech; even though I had never been in support of Biafra or IPOB, that single action convinced me of what people have been saying about the West using their media arm for propaganda and blackmail. See how Sahara Reporters finished Oduah, and now on Ngozi and Diezani and see how they carefully avoided Tinubu and Amaechi. If they tell me Dasuki used arms money to campaign for PDP, where did APC get there own sponsorship? It actually looks to me the government is looking for everything thing to pin down Dasuki, several prior unfounded accusations about owning a pistol before the latest one.

My brother I didn't break any rule before they banned me for asking them to take a thread to the front page. Now i'm ready to break all rules. Mind you I don't fear Seun as you said, I only fear for seun, because he is fossilizing this forum. He's not a business man if not he would have looked at statistics that shows the highest members of Nairaland are from Anambra and be very sensitive how he treats them for business sake. Those politicians that paid him will abandon him once this forum becomes less relevant
I don't support biafra, but it is very wrong for seun to be banning people. We are responsible for what we put out here, he should stop banning people for God sake. .

Whenever any APC member is named and EFCC refuces to act accordingly, let us know.

It's logical that 99% of those who looted Nigeria blind in GEJ's era must have been members of the then ruling party PDP. So, for anyone to think those in the opposition were involved and being shielded amounts to crass ignorance.

Or, is there any APC man named by Dasuki so far that EFCC has failed to act upon?

Pls read this:

It has long been established that a subordinate has no legal obligation to obey illegal orders from his/her superior. This point is important as we examine the recent nauseating revelations about the huge sums of money that the former finance minister, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Central Bank governor, Godwin Emefiele, made available to the now arrested former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

Few days ago, Okonjo-Iweala admitted giving Sambo Dasuki the sum of $322m on the orders of former President Goodluck Jonathan. Before that the same Okonjo-Iweala admitted spending $2bn

from the Excess Crude Oil account on the orders of the former President. The Central Bank of Nigeria under Godwin Emefiele has admitted giving Sambo Dasuki billions of Naira and dollars on the orders of the former president. A good part of these monies were given to Sambo Dasuki in cash in clear contravention of existing anti-money laundering laws by the country’s chief banker. Let us put the money laundering issue to the side for now.

The problem with the orders from the former President to the then finance minister and current CBN governor is that they were illegal. Neither the President nor any other government official in Nigeria has the legal authority to order the spending of funds that have not been appropriated by the National Assembly! Both subordinates knew or ought to know that the orders they were obeying were illegal and should have refused to comply. Resignation was an option. Between these two subordinates they cost the nation in excess of $5B by obeying the referenced illegal orders. That is just what we know so far and this kind of behavior is going on at every level of government everyday.

The arrest and prosecution of Okonjo-Iweala and Godwin Emediefe will send out the message that “the president ordered the payment” is not a defense known to the laws of Nigeria. Their prosecution is imperative in light of the fact that a lot of the money being stolen in the country is not in the custody of the people stealing them. They rely on a group of people that I call facilitators in an upcoming article to get access to public funds in the custody of the facilittors.

In almost every case of monies made available to Sambo Dasuki, all those making the money available were following illegal orders and they knew it. The time has come for Buhari to beam the searchlight on this group of people. The commercial bankers who allow government officials to come into their banks and withdraw millions and billions in cash in apparent violation of anti-money laundering laws are facilitators of corruption because they know the funds are dirty hence the need to terminate the paper trail through cash withdrawal. The bankers ought to be in jail too partly because they make tracing these funds more complicated.

To understand the importance of subordinates not obeying illegal orders, imagine that Okonjo-Iweala, NNPC and Godwin Emefiele refused to obey the former President’s illegal orders and resigned under pressure and spilled the beans. With Nigerians fully aware of the attempted fraud it would have been difficult for their replacements to obey the same illegal orders. Buhari’s anti-corruption war must involve establishing a culture that encourages civil servants, and bank employees to disobey illegal orders. This will prevent our money from leaving the treasury rather than chasing after the money after it has been stolen.

Before closing I will like to remind people that a majority of the civilians and military officers who were tried, executed or jailed by the post-World War 2 Nuremberg Trials courts in Germany were obeying orders from Adolf Hitler. The problem was that Adolf Hitler had no legal basis for issuing the orders and those who ended up being executed for obeying the orders had no obligation to obey the orders.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Godwin Emefiele should be familiar with the Nuremberg Trials. The lesson is that a superior cannot order a subordinate to do anything that the superior has no authority to do himself/herself. Nigerians must rid themselves of the idea that a President has the power to order anyone to do anything in the absence of enabling legislation. Na oga say make I do am is not a defense.

Nigerians love to chase the wind.

If GEJ (the President) authorize payment by fiat, does Dasuki or NOI have the power to say No?

Your honest answer to this question should lead to the real criminal in this saga.

People are so dumb that they believe that St.Jonathan was not aware of the malfeasance in his administration.
Yet his name keeps propping up again and again.

Nigerians deserve the kind of leadership they get.

About time GEJ is also questioned. He authorised all these fraudulent transactions to secure his second term ambition. He should be man enough to come out and defend his actions.

Dasuki already made it clear he won't go down alone or be the fall guy. GEJ's election is the reason why the money was shared in the first place and not Dasuki's election. So, why is the federal government shielding Goodluck from investigation and prosecution?

Dasuki is involved no doubt, but those that authorised him to share the loot should also be punished. There should be no sacred cow in the fight against corruption.
I agree with you intoto. PMB should as well tell us how his own election was sponsored. Both parties shared money. And that has been norms during previous election. OBJ shared Ghana must go bag to national Assembly members. There no saint among them.

It is time Jonathan is brought in for questioning. A former President can be jailed if found guilty of engaging in corrupt practices. It has happened elsewhere before. Nigeria cannot be an exception simply because a certain Mr. Jonathan conceded to electoral defeat which he actually lost anyways.

My views on the GEJ led government remain unchanged. In my opinion it remains the best government so far. The indices are not apparent until put into cöntext. What we are seeing here is about financial probity. About monetary issues which constitute just a fraction of governance. I know it means so much to Nigerians but that is where we miss it. The much vaunted anti-corruption war even if won (which is impossible) will not impact on the economy or raise the standards of living like we think.

Practically speaking. Not a penny is being stolen right? How come we are getting worse. If a trauma patient is patched up he gets better by the day not worse. Money, the gain of it or the loss of it is not the one and only, front and centre challenge facing Nigeria and it is on this basis I judge.

GEJ obviously has a few character flaws but which president hasn't and if he wanted to leverage on anti-corruption there were enough bad governments before him to exploit.
