Since you're above 18 years old you won't be issued a birth certificate rather they'll give you an attestation of birth certificate.
To get that you need
1: 2 passport photos
2: photocopy of identification
3: An avidavit sworn on your behalf by your Mother, Father, sister, brother uncle etc but the person must be older than you.
If you're not in Nigeria you can send someone to do it for you in which case the person will have to bring one passport photograph and a means of Identification.
When all these are ready just take them to the State Office of The National Population commission in the state you are.

I needed NPC birth certificate for something very important, now i have read some comments that says NPC does not issue birth certificate to persons born before 1992, that they only issue attestation.

Now i sent some one to help me get it as i am not around and the person went to a local government and got the NPC BC something like the one below.


my question is;
is it fake and can you get it any local government?
I was born in the '80s, is it possible that they still issue BC to people born before 1992?
Can this be presented abroad?

please i need your opinion and Thank you in advance.

You can go to Ikeja high court it's close to Lagos state University teaching hospital or you can also get it from Ikoyi high court.
For the Npc attestation letter you can only get it at the Surulere office

Hello joysmart, please is the attestation letter generally accepted everywhere, and how much do you pay @NPC to get one?

I'm sorry if this question sounds a bit stupid: will an age declaration affidavit sworn to before a magistrate court be acceptable for processing an attestation letter at the NPC? I have been reading one has to get one from a high court, but the one I have is from a magistrate court.

And if I must get another from a high court, is it really essential a parent or an older person accompanies me? I have seen this as a requirement in a couple places and I'm not sure if it applies to minors only. Am a grown person for crying out loud. Helpful information will be appreciated.

I lost my original birth certificate about 10 years ago but I now need it for processing a green card at the US embassy in the UK.
I have copies of my birth certificate but the original is what is required.
Is it possible to use that to get one reissued?
I was born at Luth in Lagos.

I'll rather have a proper one not an affidavit.

Hi were you able to verify if the NPC certificate was genuine? I was also of the understanding you will not be able to get an NPC certificate for births registered before a certain date.
