I had same experience then, the problem is that u don't follow our instructions very well.
Press volume up + power button simultaneously ( start at same time and release it same time when it shows Smart life experience bla bla)
Just wait till Twrp shows, then u swipe left to continue.
Remove the phone's pouch in order to press the buttons conveniently.

Av successfully flashed twrp and root my tecno c8, only problem i experience is that i can't tether my hotspot to another android device using vpn (psiphon, tweakware, openvpn, http injector or sas). I don try tire.... I have tryd iswat tether unlocker and df tethering unlocker but i still can't tether my other android phone.
I have two friends too who have same problem of how Android lollipop is stubborn in tethering with other Android phones.

Pls friends, any suggestions

I think this is a design that is common to some phones running Android lollipop and not Tecno Camon c8 alone. Anyway there is a solution to the problem.
Dial *#*#4636#*#* using your phone dialer, it'll take you to a page where you have the internal configuration of the phone.
Click on Phone Information, take you to another page, scroll down and click on the drop down menu arrow then select WCDMA only from the list. Just exit by going back. That's it...your phone stays on 3G only.
NB: When you're in an area that has no 3G network your phone may not see any signal cos it cannot switch to EDGE network by itself.
