OK. Let me reply those finding it extremely difficult to succeed on freelancer. First, I must admit that freelancer is a very competitive platform through which many freelancers across different countries jostle for jobs. On the other hand, if you want to make a decent amount of money per month, you need to consider freelancing sites such as freelancer.com. Personally, I dislike fiverr because most freelancers on that platform work for pittance. I can't imagine myself proofreading/editing for $5/1500 words because I do that for a minimum of $10 on freelancer.com. To succeed on freelancer, it is very easy. First, you need to know/study your competitors and your employers. Experience has shown me that developed countries pay more than developing countries and that most asian freelancers are ready to work for a dime. These guys are not robot, as most of them cannot bid for 24 hours. So, bid when most of these guys are asleep (check their time zones). Also, most Americans award projects between 5 p.m and 12 p.m (American time). So, bid around that time. As for those struggling for reviews. It is very easy to get a review. Just create two accounts, award yourself a project and pay via your local bank account. And of course, withdraw your fund through payoneer. Another better method, just tell your friends on freelancer to award you a project, and pay them in naira. You don't need to work hard, just work smart. Also, if you want to earn about $1000/month, please hone your SKILLS. If you are good, people will patronize you. Last month, I downgraded to BASIC PLAN because I don't have much time to bid for projects anymore on FREELANCER. In sum, hone your skills and try to be CONSISTENT. Thank you.

What is required:
1. Open a free account on freelancer.com
2. Search for jobs in the marketplace
3. Place your bids
4. Get picked by the employer
5. Get paid
6. Withdraw your income into payoneer card (Please do not use Paypal, as it is not yet legal to withdraw into Paypal acct, you can only use it to make payment online for now). Payoneer card is better and safe).
7. Withdraw your money from any mastercard ATM in Nigeria.

If you don't have a review, or have a low number of completed projects/reviews, you can't be bidding high.

You build a reputation first and then you can charge better fees.

To start, your bids must be extremely low. That is the only thing that will make them give you a try.

@LordAdam, very inspiring speech you have there. Thank you so much. Actually, it is near impossible to make $1000/month writing articles for a starter. To make that much, you need to have lots of clients and writers working with you. You need more than articles to make that much. I used article writing as a ladder to build my credibility online (reviews), and from there I learnt how to write e-books and research reports (that is where money is). Article writing is just the beginning and should be used to learn the ropes of online marketing communication.

Actually, this is not my first post on nairaland, i have helped about five people so far to start on freelancer. They are making money online now.
