dearpreye: You are so on point. While its always good to be true to yourself but while in public you have to be mindful of one's behaviour. Not everyone is exuberant. Not everyone wants to hear you talking to your mother loudly. N ot evryone wants to hear your kind of music (use earphones). Being orderly is not European (Does it mean the reserve Japanese are always trying to imitate Europeans), Its an embodiment of a civilized human. 1 Like 1 Share |

debo07: How so? It's only a sign of well done and thanks, pilot. That's how I see it. Not funny to me. Just like when your team scores a goal... Goals are the objective of the game. Flying and landing safely is the objective, so when it is achieved, a round of applause is in order., yes? |

kazuna: A thoroughly civilised man is one who doesn't allow his enjoyments to interfere with the serenity of another man. Yes. Being orderly isn't actually a European thing but the hallmark of every sensible people. Well, Nigerians are always good with coming up with lousy excuses for their bad manners. The Japanese example is so apt. Somehow the values of these great nations plays out in their standard of living. The more chaotic a people are, the more primitive their living conditions. 1 Like |

obinnashady: Because thats the way we truly behave and its apparent to the international community. Every set of people in this world have their own set of peculairity wherever you come in close contact with them. These behavior in the plane is not uncommon with flights to Indian; Pakistan; FAr East and some parts of Middle East. You will regret been on the plane with these nationals. If u fly from Europe or Americas to then take a connecting flight from Europe to Lagos, the flight is usually Civil and Calm, but once you board Europe to Lagos, its is a totally different ball game. Worst are flights like Lufthansa or Air France to Lagos where you have diff Nigerians converging from Austria; Germany; Poland and such like on your flight, trust me, you shall not have peace through out the flight. Same goes for East African flights from Nairobi and Addis Ababa to Nigeria, they are always noisy as you have a congregation of Far East; Middle East Nigerian passengers. We just need to be more considerate of others...thats all 3 Likes 1 Share |

dearpreye: I wish I could sometimes. Its a constant distraction. But then you have your Mother who frowns when you show the slightest disdain and a Wife who will forever intone her pastor!, The Mountain Of Fire loudspeakers across your street, to constantly put up to As a Naijan is really difficult to avoid Religion. Its pervading. 1 Like 1 Share |

dearpreye: Thank you. i understand your point. And I am pointing out the fact that I have seen worse overseas. Some of these things are not limited to Nigerians alone. While I sense the humor in your topic let us not forget that we are the only ones who do these things. As a matter of fact Air France, Paris to Toulouse on the 13th of November. What was the excuse? ''ah well...They are French people they are most times impatient. If the weather is bad they complain and if the whether is good they complain more'' . and there was laughter. That was what I was told. And they laughed about it. This is where everything works. Right in the heart of Europe. It is even the people who claim to be orderly and not confused that do not obey rules to turn off their phones. Both in Local flights in Nigeria. They are practically lawless. And I have seen them argue for hours too overseas. On why they are right. Abegi make we leave story. I am just saying, while we bad mouth Nigeria let us not be misled and then throw away the things that make us special as a people. We like to talk loud. That is us. Our voices are not shrill. There are so many things we call disorder that the people who taught us the word ''disorder'' in English will say it makes them resilient and bold. Nigerians are bold and proud. That is how I see it. So while I understand the fact that we need to do away with some negative national values, we need to also see if these are strong points that make us special. We are proud, strong, brilliant, dogged people. 3 Likes |

kazuna: This environment will rob you of your sanity if you don't create an internal serene one for yourself. I'm a Christian but I'm totally averse to all the nonsense people do in the name of Christianity. You've got to define your life by your own standards. I agree it's very difficult to become indifferent to religion in a society that's drunk with religion but you can limit or reduce the madness. If you must find peace, then you've got to be in control of your life. 1 Like |

dabriggs: Let's leave the story. No nation or system is perfect since it's comprised of imperfect humans but the summary is, we need to behave more patiently and orderly. It's got NOTHING to do with being a European or not. Nice learning from you. Bye. |

Seventeen: And I say pay no mind to them jare. When time calls for us to be polite and kind we will be. When you reach Marina and you are going to V.I. with Danfo on a rainy morning, you behave like a Nigerian and rush the bus. While it is not funny there can never be a perfect system. Ever! You doggedness comes to play. When the Tisseo metro bus drivers go on strike in Toulouse and buses are few, come see me rushing the bus with the French. Before dem think I don enter. Ha ha ha ha. My take is there are some things we can do away with. But let us not forget that some of these things are positive. Regardless of their seemingly negative looks. These we do not need to bad mouth. We are strong willed, hard working, brilliant, proud, resilient, IMPATIENT, RELIGIOUS, dogged people |
