The Olive court looks pretty drab! Not enough greenery and vegetation.

Asides, why do we keep building these types of houses and we say we are providing housing for the "teeming Nigerians"? How many "teeming Nigerians" can afford this?

Highrise buildings shouldn't be an aspiration, they,re an eyesour and if those responsible for mass housing can do so in Nigeria they should not lazily adopt this method. I am sure there are better more imaginative ways of housing the masses instead of highrise that are often difficult to manage long-term, isolate people, creats antisocial behaviour and that only make sense where land is premium. If we must build large structures to house lots of people I have often wondered why the pyramid shape is not adopted. It is African and I can imagine gigantic pyramids that could even act as small communities in there own right. They would have inside apartments, shopping centres, police staions, parks and thoroughfares along which electric vehicles could run. But, hay, I am imaginative, so don't laugh. I belive such structurs can be built though and they would win Nigeria plaudits and awards and they would be difrent and be deservedly Nigerian.

inferiority complex will not let most of you achieve or appreciate anything ..
Its in your blood, your own will never be as good as others no matter the effort put into it.

Go back and check Lagos housing project and eko Atlantic city then come back when you have updated your brain ..

Sheesh ..

sorry, i dont mean to be rude..
Did you read and understand what the guy wrote before your rebuttal?

I dont think there is an need for using the term "inferiority complex" on him... he was not attacking the state of ogun neither the governor and from what i can discern you took it that his statement on Akwa-ibom meant ogun shouldnt have this project on...I STAND TO BE CORRECTED

But what kind of reporting is dis one, what is olive court, a residential area, a hotel for the high class, government housing? Where is it located? Who were the brains behind the project? What is the purpose? All I see here are pictures, without info undecided

Its probably just a residential building project built and sold by d state govt. They have them all over abuja, Lagos, kano.etc. Its usually meant to provide cheaper housing and reclaim & beautify dilapidated areas, where landlords & devpt companies are not providing good or enough houses. Jakande in Lagos state built massive similar estates in Lagos when there was a serious shortage in housing. This was because (as my dad explained), Lagos was a shithole in d 70's; up to 20 pple cld be living in a flat, due to massive influx of pple & no houses. Govts all over d world undertake urban renewal projects.

They make them relatively cheap. I rmmber d duplexes tinubu built in mile 2 around 2000/2001 were sold for 1million each. Pple bought them & were reselling for 10million though. Nigerians.

I agree wt u abt high rise building projects. Especially if its for d poor & if its free like d ones in new York, it just breeds too much dirt, crime & antisocial behaviour as its too concentrated to control. There's a reason Paris beauty & quaintness is much talked about, its because they have a cap on building heights. So the country retains its traditional xter.

yeah .. Ibadan is all round city .. Both old and new settlement ..

That's why they call it the gold and the rust city ..

Ikolaba is nice but not most developed .. Go to new bodija, Jericho. Idi ishin, onireke etc .. You will be wowed wink

The most developed part of Ibadan is Iyaganku GRA, Agodi GRA, Oluyole Estate. cool

That place can be mistaken for maitama, Ikoyi or Asokoro wink

Inferiority complex are the most suitable words for the dude.. When you think standard project like this is not laudable and start comparing it with that of Lesotho or some crappy countries .. Then Its nothing but self hate ..

Thank You..
But i think you need to re-read his post again, he never compared the project to that of ANGOLA (not lesotho).
He was complaining of lack of yield from the amount of money accrued to his state which is AKWA-IBOM and he emphasized that....

And mind you, you cant compare those projects in Angola to what is being done in this olive court, i doubt if the houses are up to 200 based on what i can see from this picture and what i have researched online, as the pic is just one dimensional....

why dont you google angola, mozambique and botswana and try to have an idea of these countries.....if you travel to other parts of Africa, you would conclude within yourself that Nigeria is indeed a crappy country.

I think yu need t apologize to that guy for quoting him out of context .

Thank You.

and you can't compare any of those mozambique or lesothos whatever projects you talked about with what is being done in Lagos housing project or eKO Atlantic.. After all, its not being done all over their country.

Sorry, don't bother replying, I won't respond .. Take care.

No need to get cross over nothing my dear.

Lets just say the Angolan project is more a federal project that is already completed in a country with less population than Nigeria and the capital luanda the most expensive capital in the wold, while the lagos project is more an uncompleted state project.

Dont just write off a country you havent been to before, research on them before passing judgement.

Abuja would not be able to stand toe to toe with 60% of capitals in AFRICA!!!!!! ITS A FACT
