You mean prior to his coronation he did not partake in any diabolic rituals and fetish rites? No concotions and covenants/oaths? He may sound so Godly but may actually be unGodly via the processes culminating in his coronation. I learnt most of them must belong to the ogboni confraternity.
Nonetheless i am glad he acknowledged the most high God; Christ Jesus

See typical Western brainwashed Mumu. I detest when culturally deficient Africans call their culture diabolical et Al, when they do the direct equivalent in a foreigners religion. You are anointed with oil, kneel in front of the leader and swear that you will never leave the confraternity, pay monthly dues and are mandated to bring more converts etc.

Is it Christianity that isn't fetish? Eat the body of Christ, drink his blood", "washed by the blood of Jesus", burning of incense, reciting in Latin etc.

For your information, he acknowledged the God of his own beliefs, not Jesus Christ as you said. Oyibo slave

there is nothing like head of traditional rulers,he just happens to be king of the spiritual home of the yorubas....every king has its own domain..and no king bows down to another king!!!...all of them respects on another

Stop twisting facts and talking trash!
Ooni is the head (No 1) amongst all the traditional rulers in Yoruba land
In historic times, the Ooni used to either install, appoint or approve the kings of other domains in Yoruba land. It was the British that came and neutralized the influence of the kings to the benefit of their 'divide and rule' tactics.

He used social media as a tool in his struggle to become an Ooni, so he should also expect criticism from them. And no one asked for an apology from him too. [/quote]

Please explain to us how he used social media to become Ooni. I can't remember campaigning or can't remember seeing his picture on any social media soliciting for votes to become Ooni. Until his name was announced by the Ile-Ife king makers you and I don't even know him. So please educate the more on how he used social media, your comment is laughable.

The Ooni still doesn't get it. He was criticized for bowing to a foreign religion and not God.
After all, it was God (Olodumare)'s will that he became an Ooni. And this he acknowledged that, by bowing to Osun, Obatala, Ogboni e.t.c before he was crowned as the Ooni.
Did he bow to Jesus to receive the crown

He used social media as a tool in his struggle to become an Ooni, so he should also expect criticism from them. And no one asked for an apology from him too.

All these palpitations are unnecessary. The ooni is a traditionalist who goes to church and goes to mosque. He does it to fraternize wt his pple in these religions. Other oonis have done it in d past.
Traditional Yoruba religion recognizes olodumare. Every other differences in belief is abt d way u get to him. This is d mentality of all these kings, even alaafin. It doesn't mean they're converts, they're still traditionalists.

Ooni is not no.1 king in yorubaland. He's not d 1st son of oduduwa. Trust me they adhere to DT heirarchy strongly among those 1st generation kings when it comes to coronation of other kings.eg. during d coronation of d orangun of ila, d alaafin has to enter d palace first before d ooni.etc.

In yoruba mythology, oduduwa sent all his sons out except d last son. The importance of d ooni is DT he is d custodian of their fatherland. He rules as arole oduduwa, along wt all its gods (emphasis on gods cos this is why d extremist traditional worshippers here are poknosing their eye on him, other faiths really don't care).

There is no no.1 king in yorubaland. The obas themselves all have rspct for each other & the domains they rule as they have covenants wt d land itself (don't ask me how). Their individual pples also have respect for them. We have democratic systems of government now, so all DT superiority stuff are generally seen as irrelevant & unnecessary. The fight BTW d alaafin & ooni in d last dispensation was a fight BTW oba lamidi and oba sijuade. It has no bearing on anything important.

The fact that he still acknowledges the supreme God means a lot. Don't be surprised, people whom you think worship God may be dirty beings before Him.

This is a wise king. The people of Ife are blessed.
Also,
No 1 rule of being a Boss: Never Apologise. You can Rationalise, Evade, Deny or Whatever. Just never apologise for your actions!!!

You just gave the no. 1 rule of losing the best of your staff/subordinate after ingratitude.

A boss that will not apologize when wrong is most likely suffering from low self-esteem and insecurity (the cocktail manifesting as pride). Real bosses count it an opportunity to be able to say,"I'm sorry about that."

By the way, having nothing to agologize for like the Ooni's case is different from rationalizing instead of apologizing. You actually lose the respect of your subordinates if you choose the former(rationalizing).

DickDastardly:
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has said he owed nobody any apology for kneeling to worship the almighty God during the thanksgiving service held in his honour at the Paul’s Anglican Church, Ife, after his coronation.
The Ooni, said this in statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Thursday by the Director of Communication and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Ile Ife, Mr. Moses Olafare.
The monarch spoke in reaction to criticisims against him by an online medium Newspunch (Not The Punch) that he knelt down to worship God during the church service.
Ogunwusi said it was wrong to equate any king no matter his status with the almighty God who created the heavens and the earth, saying the comment was an attempt to embarrass the throne.
Ogunwusi said since the almighty God is not Ooni or any king’s mate he would not stop to worship and revere him because it was God who enthroned him.
The statement read, ” It is an unacceptable sacrilege to equate Ooni’risa or other king to the almighty God. God Is the creator of mankind and it is God that made it possible for the enthronment of any king.
“The attention of Ile Oodua has been drawn to a publication released Wednesday 16th 2015 by an online medium known as NEWSPUNCH in which His Imperial Majesty, Ooni’risa & Arole Oodua Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi(OjajaII) was crtisised for bowing to God.
“God remains the highest, the king of kings who has kept all kings alive and has made it possible for me to be crowned as the king of the source of Yoruba civilisation.
“I have no regrets whatsoever for kneeling down to exalt the almighty God who did not only create me, but also kept me alive, saw me through all the storms in my, life-journey and eventually crowned me as the custodian of Oodua race.
“This act of equating me to God of gods of king of kings and the sole owner of the universe is a wicked sacrilege planned to embarrass the throne. My emergence as Oba has been made possible only by the almighty Olodumare to whom I remain eternally grateful.”

There goes the little that is left of ancient ife culture, a "brainwashedly" schooled monarch is in charge. He shouldn't have gone for the custodian position of an oba if he was going to mess it up with indoctrinated slave master religion.

It is sacrilegious. He should be deposed.

I don't know the problem some people have with this new oni. Yoruba calls them 'alase ekeji orisa' meaning 'the second in command to god' not to the Almighty God! so now that he has become king he should now assume he is at par with his creator? NO! The more we reference God the more he honour and bless us! God bless the king.

The Ooni is an orisa, and not an "alase ikeji orisa". Hence, oonirisa! There are 401 chief gods in Yorubaland, according to the mythology, and the only living one among them is the "ooni". Sé ó yé?

Kneeling before a preacher, for an Ooni, is a sacrilege. These guys are hypocrites sef, they go through all those traditional rituals and still come out to do "sàgbè lójú yòyò" to you people and you gulp everything line, hook and sinker.

Anyway, tis the crazy century!
