forgiveness: Please, let Siasia leave Nacho. Iheanacho is not a regular player. He is a bench warmer. Let Siasia call rhe regular players like Ighalo, Musa, Martins. There are others like Olaitan and Ezekiel. Let him leave Nacho for us. |

joseph1013: This would have been a chance to showcase some of our boys especially those who will not go to Rio. The one time period when every Nigeria based player will be free and he refused. This team is all about Siasia not the players and i for one don't like it. The nff should go ahead with the game. 1 Like |

terzurum5: Bros, Awoniyi has signed contract with Liverpool and he is currently on loan to FSV Frankfort in the 2 Bundesliga for some time now yet he is unable to play a single minute. I hope he proves himself prior to the Olympics else he will find himself wanting... Besides how many goals did he score? Ajayi just left the NFL recently to a club in North Africa, so there's no much difference. But the guy scored two goals now. That's why I want them to sit up and fight for a shirt. No hard feelings. |

shogz89: LOL. I know that I'm arguably Martins' biggest advocate on this site (I pushed vigorously for his last call-up), but even for me, I have not thought of bringing him to the Olympics. We are still weighing his contribution to the Super Eagles the last time he was invited and seeing whether he has done enough to be invited to the next Eagles' game. Now, someone is pushing his luck and talking of the Olympics. I was very confused! 2 Likes |

forgiveness: If it is the 5-0 thrashing of Groningen by Vitese, Marvelous Nakamba was the man of the match and not Solanke. The 21-year-old joined Vitesse from French second-tier side AS Nancy at the start of the 2014/15 season, but took time to find his feet, making only eight appearances, all off the bench, with a paltry total of 97 minutes. But all that has changed this season for the Bulawayo-born former Bantu Rovers central midfielder as he has played 773 minutes of football, from nine starts in his club’s 10 matches this term. So marvellous has been Nakamba this season that he has been named man of the match for his side twice, including in the 5-0 demolition of FC Groningen where he was given a nine out of 10 rating. https://www.newsday.co.zw/2015/10/27/nakambas-star-shines/ |

TheGoodJoe: We need Iheanacho in that team. Though I am nt sure if he will get a starting place. August 2016 is still far. He might get more regular time in City and also make more improvements. Another player can still step-up before then and relegate Iheanacho to the Olympic team bench. I am sure u know that Sokari and Etebo play similar roles to Iheanacho especially if it is a 4-5-1 formation. By and large we still need Iheanacho in the team; forget ManCity. U are a Nigerian before being a ManCity fan. |
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:45pm On Dec 18, 2015 |
Icon4s: If Coach Siasia is more interested in carrying Experienced lads to fill the attack of a team and leave his leaky defence and his midfield that lacks coherency, there is no need for him to take Nacho out of the Etihad to bench in the competition. Aguero is still leading the line. BONY comes next before Nacho. Coach Siasia wants regular striker. So I do not see a space for Nacho because Success is also a regular. It is not a Nigeria Man City team. I am more concerned with Nacho's development. He develops more as a Man city reserve player than as a sub for the Olympics team. |
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by Icon4s(m): 2:56pm On Dec 18, 2015 |
TheGoodJoe: If Iheanacho is as good as you guys here have been chanting then he should have no issues making the staring 11 of the Olympics team irrespective of which over-aged or experienced player Siasia choses to introduce. A player that u guys said could easily have walked into the Arsenal and Man United starting 11? Except if u guys are telling me our 2016 Olympic team would be stronger than the Arsenal and Man United teams. Even though Siasia is saying he will not invite bench warmers u and I know there are always exceptions. Iheanacho though nt a starter with City will definitely get a call up. 1 Like |

Icon4s: I am not doubting Iheanacho's quality for one second. I am saying if Coach Siasia is bringing in the senior players of the team, I am not expecting him to bench them. It is the same thing as Coach Siasia pulling out Ighalo who is a key man for Watford FC from his team and benching him for Success or Iheanacho. That will be insulting and undermining of Ighalo. I am not talking of quality. I trust Nacho. If things go according to plan, Guardiola would be building his team at City. I want City in the Etihad campus at that time if Ighalo and Musa will play for the squad. I have said the same thing about Oliseh. Call them when you have space to play them. 1 Like |
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 3:11pm On Dec 18, 2015 |
Icon4s: He should not call Nacho if he is inviting his regular senior strikers. Martins, Ighalo, Musa, Success is enough. It is just seven games he is playing. Nacho is important to us Cityzens and we will gladly accept him. Remember Man City asking for assurances before they release Nacho to Siasia. The stance has not changed. |
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by Icon4s(m): 3:45pm On Dec 18, 2015 |
TheGoodJoe: No, No, I don't agree with that thinking. Please lets put sentiments aside. To me it is country before Club. Iheanacho is more important to me as a Nigerian than to being a favorite player to any "Cityzens' as u call it. Even if Siasia invites Ighalo and Musa, I still expect to see Iheanacho in that team. No player, not even Success or Etebo is sure of a starting line-up. Inviting all our best legs brings in competition and that brings out the best in the team. And hu says Siasia cannot bench Ighalo or Musa. Osaze Odemwingie was the only over-aged player that honoured the invitation to the Beijin 2008 Olympics. Siasia, same Siasia, started him from the bench in most of the matches. Odemwingie was nt even our key attacking weapon in that team. It was Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi and Victor Obinna Nsofor, who were U23s, that led the attack for most of the games. The then Everton's highly rated Victor Anichebe couldn't even make d starting 11 for most of the games which is one of the reasons y I dnt buy the Mr forgiveness philosophy. We need every eligible U23 player. I dnt even want Ighalo and Musa in that Olympics team. I believe the young attacking lads can do the job. As an observer from my TV screen , the defense is where we need to work on most. Siasia should give us a list of over-aged defenders he is considering and mayb a defensive midfielder. 1 Like |

Like petrobros said "this ur luv for nacho is becoming sumthing else". So you will be happy to see nacho playing insignificant preseason matches while his mates are competiting in the biggest and oldest competition in the world just because you want him to impress the new city "boss". How sure are you that he can't even put up a man of the tournament performance? The same Olympics that a certain Mikel wants to go. Mikel has been to all the major competitions involving both Country and Club, won titles upon titles(biggest titles in the world UCL, Europa, Epl, Fa cup, Carling, AFCON) but he still deserves to go to Rio next year. Now you think a 19 year old Iheanacho is bigger than this and playing preseason for a new coach is better. City will play more than 50 games(cups and league) next season. Enough games to impress the manager. 7 games in the olympic is not too much to ask for. He will even get the chance to play against some top players in the world(countries can invite 3 senior players). Inviting Ighalo, Musa, Martins e.t.c should not affect his chances in the U23 team. It will even be a big plus for him, if he can bench this established stars in our matches. Imagine Iheanacho benching Ighalo(the man dat scored 30goals for watford and the highest goal scorer in the whole england with 26 goals ahead of Harry kane, Aguero, benteke, Vardy, Costa). Iheanacho is a footballer and should not run away becos of competition for starting, he is doing it at City why not in Nigeria U23 too. 2 Likes |

Badosqi: I am not saying Nacho should run from competition. I am all for the team doing well but I prefer future development than immediate success. It is as simple as that. Nacho is showing promise for greatness and Coach Siasia has a limit of players he can bench. Forget all the long story, the Super Eagles captain can not go to The Olympics and bench. If Coach Siasia is calling Musa, he has to play him. If not, let him play with his club and fill it up with the young lads. Same goes to Ighalo. If he is calling Ighalo, there should be a chance of him playing every game because he plays every game for Watford. He is key to their success. If Nacho is going to come, it won't make sense if we carry key strikers like Success, Ighalo, Musa. We have others like Awo and Nacho. All can not play. It is not about better than. It is logic. If Coach Siasia feels he wants experience upfront and believes his youngsters can fix his leaky defence, leave the youngsters to continue their development with their clubs. |

Badosqi: How can Nacho run away from Starting when he stayed to battle for a starting place against the likes of Negredo, Jovetic, and Aguero. That was even last season while waiting for his work permit. Now he has the former best player in the Dutch league and Aguero ahead of him and he is not running from competition. |

Tomtoxic: Are you kidding? At the AFCON, Ruud Gullit argued that the award of Pitropa as the best player of the AFCON was wrong. He watched the whole tournament and said Mikel was the best player in the competition. When we knocked The Ivorians out, Drogba said Mikel was the best player. Oliseh recently said Mikel was best after his first games. When Mikel dominated Spain, who was our best player in that game. Watch this clip of Mikel and tell me if a team killer can pull out such moves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbXYIq4U4TY 1 Like |

Tomtoxic: Rotterdam coach, Michel Vonk, said he was delighted with the robust, attacking play of the Eagles, adding that if they keep it up they will go far at the Nations Cup. “Your team play physical and quick and at times they slow it down and before you know it they are all over you. I told my players that is what to expect and we were not disappointed. Their quality is very good”, he said. The coach singled out Mikel Obi and Kenneth Omeruo for special mention. “Your number 10 (Mikel), is very good, creative and has good vision, then Omeruo, very good aerially and gives good cover to the keeper. Your team wasted a lot of chances, they must learn to take them at the Nations Cup and I wish them good luck,” he concluded. www.goal.com/en-ng/news/4687/2013-africa-cup-of-nations/2013/01/12/3667304/emenike-scores-as-nigeria-defeat-sparta-rotterdam-in-warm-up?source=breakingnews&ICID=HP_BN_3 |

Tomtoxic: Fascinatingly, Nigeria’s recent revival and a return to the top of the continental tree after 19 years of underachievement, has provided Mikel with an ideal environment to demonstrate that once-prodigal ability that had appeared to be lost in the ether. Stephen Keshi’s remodelling of the Super Eagles, filling the team with young, inexperienced and domestic-based talent, made a man out of Mikel. The inconsistent, precocious wunderkind suddenly became a player of influence and responsibility. Surrounded by youngsters, Mikel became the crucial component, the central fulcrum of Keshi’s elect. At both the triumphant Cup of Nations and the slightly less convincing Confederations Cup earlier in the summer, he was a majestic, imperious force in the heart of the side. With tantalising touches and expert teamwork, Mikel consistently and relentlessly drove his team forward, brought his teammates into play and demonstrated the creativity and vision that won him so many plaudits as a teenager. His goal against Uruguay, all poise, balance and ferocity, was, for a single, solitary second, a window back in time, a glimpse at why Mikel was once announced as the successor to Jay-Jay Okocha. Such a vivid, explosive talent in his day. Writing about Mikel’s terrific performances in Brazil this summer, I concluded the following: While Nigeria fans are naturally delighted at the elegant influence Mikel has had in the middle of the park over the last year of sport, joy is tinged with regret when remembering the delirious talent stolen by English football. http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/1720685-john-obi-mikel-what-went-wrong-for-nigeria-midfielder-at-chelsea |
