Can't the government be creative? These are qualified well trained personnel that can serve and ready to work.



But they were not employed by the government, I think the university administrators are the one that needs to be creative.

This issue is very glaring,it started last February 2014 during last regime when it was discovered that all internally generated revenues were not remitted to govt account in these universities in which primary staff schools are amongst. The argument then was that with this exhorbitant charges in which they are paying.the bone of contention is all universities should fund these schools themselves or absorbed otherwise

Why did they establish schools which they never planned to fund or invest in, as I have said they can learn from the staff schools of FAAN. The schools were established and funded by the staff union and their cooperative society. These schools are now very profitable, and if care is not take the supervising ministry may want to hijack the schools from the staff union.

It's non easy to stop parasitism or feeding bottle mentality. They should be given given a deadline to restructure.

The teachers will not lose their jobs if the University administrators and staff unions who established the staff schools put on their thinking caps and strategise on how to make the schools they established to be self-sustaining and maybe profitable.
and what infrastructure has the Govt. Put in place so that they can think properly? Most university runs on generator. Within some schools the road are miserable. What are the infrastructures put in place for them to think on? Let me tell you, IGR is used to pay some teaching staff (supporting lecturers) who are not under Govt payroll. Maintaining and beatification of the school environs is catered for with IGR. In my school IGR was used to erect lecture theatres, botanical gardens, renovation of hostels, construction of hostels etc. If you want to use IGR to start paying teachers.....hahahahah...plus their benefits? Oga seems you don't know how the university functions or you don't understand the university structure. Go to ur physical planning unit and the projects catered for by IGR. In the end there will be hike in school fees there will be uproar and uprising and the comatose educational sector will receive another heavy blow. Mind you many universities runs...SMSE...yet the operational cost of doing business is phewwwww...think again? at the end your thinking cap will result to a bald head....

I made no step to say whether it was a bad thing or not. That is left for others to decide. That was to relieve the present administration of blame or rather share the blame between them. There was a motive why you drew the attn of the past admin to the scenario. And it is quite obvious. Who initiated was "clueless"....those are experts in good governance and are well versed should have simply jettisoned the report. It was a mere report for crying out loud......you are not illuminating anyone by drawing the past admin into it rather you looking for a way to share the blame of the unfavourable policies by the present Govt.
My advise: enlighten your thoughts before trying to illuminate others....

But resources are now dwindling, the schools should give account of the money earned over the years. I am a product of a university staff school and my school currently makes over N1 billion per annum, and they expect FG to pay salaries and invest in infrastructure. The schools need to be accountable, set-up endowment funds that will be managed my professional fund managers. The schools should also improve on their corporate governance, by having boards that consist of the parents, old students, university administrators and business leaders in the community.

you guys out here are spreading wrong ingormation out here because most of you are looking for ever opportunity to blame buhari. Buhari is not sacking people this people are staff of university staff schools. in cutting cost. the schools will be removed from the federal wage bill. the schools would be funded by the funds they raise. the schools still exist. this was the same thing that happens to Demonstration Secondary schools owned by universities during the Jonathan's administration and nothing happen. Nairaland should be a forum for discussion and education. it's now a forum for insults and spreading hate and wrong information.

Unlike in prior government when the govt would release money and bribe their way out. No money to even pay salary or borrow.

Maybe they need to open their books for scrutiny, corporate organisations will not mind assisting with some infrastructures if administrators are accountable and prudent. It does not make good business sense when you are barely struggling to survive with the subvention allocated to the university by NUC and the university still decided to set-up another organisation that was not intended to be self-sustaining. The universities have the brand names, which they need to put into productive and economical uses.

Please endeavour to always read, digest and comprehend before making comments. I am talking about a university staff school making that sum. A university cannot have a staff school which charges fees and expect the FG to pay for the running cost. The school fees paid by parents in these staff schools goes to the university and not the FG.

I support the sack. How can a university decide to run a primary and secondary schools, employ teachers and expect not only the government to pay them, but to pay them the same salary scale with those university counterparts?
It is a case of a young man having girlfriends and expect the father to also pay their bills.
Good riddance!!!, let the institutions pay them with internally generated revenues.

What a funny group and set of people in this country - the terms of agreement says the university would bare the cost of these schools "not the federal government" so why should they be on the federal government pay roll? they are supposed to be on the consultancy unit payroll of the university, as agreed and not federal government, wicked people!!! Some people would be benefiting from various welfare packages at the detriment of other people- they don't want anything to change in this country, they have forgotten that millions of nigerians are still in the job market- because most of them refused to retire-

That's assuming PMB stays put till the next elections

All pointers indicates a total system collapse and all issues addressed and if a common ground can not be reached then everybody to their tent. There's no way elections can be conducted in 2019 if begging national issues are not holistically addressed.
