mompurity2:. According to the routine, you must have an early scan for the viability of uterine pregnancy and to know it's not ectopic pregnancy at 8weeks, the dating scan at 12weeks when it has fully developed, the 20weeks scan for anatomy checking and sex revelation, one at 28weeks and at 36weeks to measure the size and if vaginal or cs to be done. I had miscarriage at 8weeks only to find out at 12weeks scan so this pregnancy, I follow all the routine scan and now 28weeks. 2 Likes |

Plz Advise Me Have NOT being on EBF with Mofe, he takes Nan 1 + breast milk....He doesn't seem satisfied even though he consumes the Nan 1 baby food in 6days using the medium feeding bottle gauged at 125ml. Mum and MIL are suggesting I introduce him to very light pap mixed with the Nan 1 now that he is exactly 2months but DH said pap doesn't seem nutritious enough and he doesn't even like the sound of the name "pap" He said I should ask which other nutritious food can we introduce Mofe to or if the pap is really good for children. Here I am asking.....Make una tell me. cc : modath, zaynie, kaffy4bill, beedam, favoredgal, missmalachi and ALL SABI MAMAS. |

Dear Supernatural Mamas , reinforced by the Almighty, I greet o. Compliments of the season and harmattan! ;DD Please, apart from anomaly scan, is there any other thing or vaccines that should be done by or before 21 weeks? I haven't started antenatal yet. FTM |

nwarosa: Please register for ANC sis....21wks is far gone already. You are suppose to be given 3shots of tetanus injections, your urine is suppose to be checked routinely to rule out infections, your PCV is supposed to be checked routinely too amidst other checks. Hope you are on preggie vitamins like pregnacare, calcium, folic acid e.t.c? |

@ Tyconcepts, pap is a big NO till he is at least 4months. You will have to increase the number of times you feed him or increase the ml. From the NAN 1 tin sef from 2 months is 150ml , 5x in a day. No be exclusive(EBF) you dey do o, in exclusive you give only breastmilk, no water, no formula, nothing at all but breasmilk. Lemme add pepper to your injury.... You still dey count tin, 1 tin in 6 days ..you no hear say Ahnie dey keep the kpangolo as momentos ni? This is just the beginning Get ready for 2 tins in a week cos I sure say Bobo Mofe go like food. Dont complain abeg, let the Prince Charming spend his daddy's money. 1 Like |

nwarosa: Why? Oya quick go and register o. Its very important esp if you are a FTM. Apart from all the drugs and injections. You also get to know the ppl that will be handling you at your most vulnerable. You can gauge their attitude/ competence from ANC. You should have used the first dose of your antimalaria drugs by now + Tetanus shot +know your bp, blood sugar, protein etc.( these are markers that can det if there will be complications during delivery or the last trimester and they can be treated or managed as long as your Dr has your history) Ignore all the above if you are not a FTM. |

zaynie: Can't afford to for now. Going through an unexpected very dry spell. The govt hospital here is on strike so has to be private. I have been taking pregnacare. I know my blood sugar is high, trying to manage it via diet. Bp is good. Dunno bout protein . |

nwarosa: Ehya, sorry about that. Try a health centre. Go to a big church. They organize ANCs for preggies. I think Apostolic does. Contact Nurse Kaffy ( if you are in Lagos), her services should be cheaper than a hospital and she can monitor you for the mean time if you arent in Lagos, try to source for a Fully Trained Midwife that can regularly check you up. It will be cheaper and you can PayAsYouGo. God will surely provide for you soon enough. Keep holding on, it is well. 8 Likes |

zaynie: Na typo error....I wanted to type "Not doing EBF". MIL was only feeding Mofe with the Nan 1 morning , afternoon and evening (8am, 1pm & 7pm) the rest na BF so I followed suit, didn't even read d can sef (blind follower) .... Could it be he cries because of underfeeding coz the BF no dey reach Mofe at all (it serves as jara) But sometimes he doesn't finish the 125ml at a sitting. Make e papa come make I show am wetin dem write for the can. Na I understand why Ahnie they use trailer load Nan cans Mofe love food like kilode....Him cheeks go really fat pass the way e be now. 2 Likes |

zaynie: I guess the more expensive scan being referred to here is Doppler Ultrasound. Did mine at OMVIAL 4D Ultrasound Centre, 9 Fadeyi Street, Off Awolowo Way, By Ikeja Bus stop, Lagos. Tel: 08036166396, 09099745678. Found out about it via this thread- 4D Ultrasound & Doppler Scan: For Pregnant Mothers. I was told they have centres in a few other states. |

Aleesha0815: I didn't take any antimalarial during my first preggy. My hospital only administers fansidar but I am allergic to sulpha drugs. So maybe it depends. Congrats Fabmummy....and soon too you will share the birth story Lagbara Olohun. Those baby things are cute. and I think the price is good if the material is durable. I once bought a set of 3 sleep suits (the one with long hands and legs) for 6-9 months at 4k though in town sha. congrats to the new mama boys and girls. 2 Likes 1 Share |

oh @zaynie thanks so much for the suggestions. I like that of midwife very well. Unfortunately I have stayed here in Owerri for just a few months so I don't really have reliable to ask but I will still fish and see. Aunty @kaffy4bill please I will appreciate any advice you can give on my matter. zaynie: |
Re: Pregnancy Are You Pregnant Or Going Through A High Risk Pregnancy,,lets Talk by sayoddy(f): 4:52pm On Dec 21, 2015 |
BritneyStacy: Yes you can do it anywhere. Wait till 12weeks then and take your antimalaria at the beginning of second trimester. At 12weeks, you need to take an injection on your arm to protect you and your baby. My mil is a midwife and runs a Maternity clinic. I live in island, an official apartment but can't afford the island hospital bills so I used style style to stay with my mil so she was examining me and giving me all the necessary injection. I joined her antenatal classes but it's unprofessional to deliver my baby so now that i'm in 3rd trimester, I recently registered at a private clinic at 27weeks. I wasn't queried, I showed them all the scans and tests i've done but the money they're calling for delivery, even my mil doesn't charge half of it. When I told her, she's contemplating to take me to one of her superior doctors for free but my husband's ego will be crushed as if there's that money loitering about. What's my own, just waiting for mother and son to decide who's taking my delivery. 2 Likes |

Thanx for ur input @goldmine. I'll make further enquiries and do as u suggested as soon as i'm due for my first scan. I'll let the house knw what's up. What are the do's and dnt's in pregnancy. What are my to eat and to avoid eating? Can I still lay on my back or tummy for now? Thanks as I await ur responses. |

Aleesha0815: It is advisable esp if you are exposed to mosquitoes on a regular basis. The drugs are to prevent malaria rather than treat it. They are prescribed once you reach 20 weeks in my hospital or once you feel strong foetal movements. 1 Like |

mompurity2: When you lie on your back, the weight of your uterus presses on the major vein that returns blood from your lower body to your heart. Lying on your back for an extended period of time could make you feel dizzy. It could also interfere with the flow of blood and nutrients to the placenta and your developing baby. Please make consistent effort to train yourself to lie on your side. Lying on your tummy should also be avoided. Eat healthy and well balanced meals. Take lots of fruits and water too. Avoid pineapple o. It was when I joined this thread that I found out that it triggers contractions. Though eating pineapple didn't affect me but people are different. Better safe than sorry. Also be very observant about what meals trigger some particular unpleasant reactions. For me every form of protein excluding milk triggered unbearable heartburn-even a small piece of meat. Ginger did the same too. Incidentally, milk gave me instant remedy for the heartburn. Be consistent with your prenatal drugs and appointments and always ask question in any area you are not clear about. Don't get carried away with shopping and buying everything your eye enters. Not everything you see is compulsory. There're some items you may buy and your baby may never get to make use of. Work with a budget and haggle prices in different shops before you settle for one so that you don't get cheated. Also try to shop early so that the experience won't be too tiring for you. I'm sure other sabi Mamas would give their imput. May you carry to term and deliver safely. 9 Likes |
Re: Pregnancy Are You Pregnant Or Going Through A High Risk Pregnancy,,lets Talk by zaynie(f): 5:47pm On Dec 21, 2015 |
mompurity2: Don'ts - overstress. You dont want a raised bp, bad back or unnecessary cramping. - eat unripe pawpaw or pineapple. Some say it has no effect but I'd rather be safe than sorry. - self medicate. Even if you have cold/ cough or headache. - eat for 2. Eat for 1 and a quarter. Dos -PRAY - exercise lightly. - Incorporate more fruits and veggies into your diet. - drop everything and take a break/ rest when your body says so. - use your routine drugs. Its never too early to start. And better to lie on your left. Best for baby. It can be tiring so take a break and lie on your tummy( before bump appears), back and right for a short while in between. Just make a conscious effort to always lie on your left side. 1 Like |
