President Muhammadu Buhari has assured that there will be free eduction for science, technology and education students in tertiary institutions.

Buhari gave the assurance Tuesday while presenting the 2016 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly.

President Buhari stressed that this would indeed mark a historic milestone for us as a nation.

Buhari said his administration would unveil a conditional cash transfer programme for the poorest and most vulnerable.

The president said the full programme would be presented in the coming weeks and that it would include home-grown public primary school feeding.

"Furthermore, through the office of the Vice President, we are working with various development partners to design an implementable and transparent conditional cash transfer program for the poorest and most vulnerable.

"This program will be implemented in phases. Already, the compilation of registers of the poorest persons is ongoing.

"In the coming weeks, we will present the full programme which will include our home-grown public primary school feeding and free education for science, technology and education students in our tertiary institutions.

"Indeed, this will mark a historic milestone for us as a nation", President Buhari said.

@ Op I believe you will be the first person to be sent to jail when the social media bill is finally passed.
The president talked about a CONDITIONAL CASH TRANSFER for the very poor and vulnerable not a full blown free education program.

Patience is okay if the rewards in the end is beneficial.. we did patience with GEJ.. see where it got us. we have been doing patience the past 2 decades but because Crude Oil was still in fashion, we did not care for Performance, Accountability and Responsibility.. now we have to care because we will perish if we do not

This is new government with diff policies and strategies. Let wait and see what PMB and his team will offer before conclusion.

This's the BEST news I've ever heard from a Nigerian president!. For the first time a Nigerian head of state have reasoned futuristically!.

This's something I've been calling for ages!. In fact, this news have made my christmas. This's all I want for Christmas.

Finally, an African head of state (aside Dr. Kwame Nkrumah) have come to the realization that Africa cannot develop without investment in grassroots science.
its one thing to promise another thing to fulfill.Have been in Nigeria all my life never to get my hopes up with promises from government

1yr, 2yrs, 3yrs? If you can see the foundation of a strategy you can determine the result! we saw signs of our imminent downfall for over a decade.. we played wait and see.. This Administration must be open with the Public.. every small detail is important and we the citizens must demand openness and dissemination of information.. no secrets and no promises without evidence of sustainability and research. the days when we were promised pigs will fly are over. you must show us. we must continue to demonstrate and demand for inclusion in every impacting decision, it is not when it is finally set in stone that we come out to complain or when it fails irreversibly. LIVES ARE AT STAKE!!!

yea,is true... BT if you look at the contents of PMB speech you will realize that there are diff policies there from previous administration to boost the revenue,e.g (TSA) rather than before. All these need time to be put in placed, well managed with good accountability and transparency before what PMB and his crew project will work for Nigerian.

So with time,I believe it will work out for PMB and the dividends of democracy will be for all Nigerian.

My brother/sister. Even this thought alone is something. Every great thing that have ever been achieved on this earth started with a thought. It means our leaders now have knowledge to an everlasting solution to our problem. This kind of thought hasn't been available till now.

Whatever Buhari was thinking when he made that promise is the type of mindset that will set Africa free from poverty forever. This's a policy every other African leader need to copy immediately.

Blackman will take back his position as the creator of this world once we get science right. We will then be on par any other country on this planet industrially, technologically, scientifically, infrastructurally, developmentally. The potential is endless.

well wll not be surprised if 97% of those registered for such financial support will be from the north while southerners would only hear of such a register...let's watch the level of transparency and balance.
