A little bit of nostalgia: operated by skilled soldiers, these 106mm RCL could do serious damage to any tank platoon stragglers. 2 Likes

frumentius: 1. Belarus training for Nigerian SF is not a few years back, it was year 2014-2015 training ended this very year 2015 and not your wrong info of imaginary 'many years back' as if it was done in stone age. 2. How do you prove Nigeria has not ordered the Skif ATGM from Belarus this 2015 year ? Are you Nigerian minister for defence or army chief? 3. Mind your carefully coined but easy to detect derogatory remarks. Your South African defence procurment office if full of bribery and corruption like Nigeria, go ask SAAB Gripen manufacturers how much bribe they paid South African defence procurment officers to force your govermment to buy Gripen jets. Go ask how your navy paid $300 million for each Valour frigate that has obsolete electronic combat suites, and 30 year old second hand main 76mm non-stealth gun picked from scrap yard then repainted and fixed on all your expensive stealth warships. Your people are corrupt too, ANC government is just covering them up because they share the loot. 4. You live is a glass house, so don't throw stones. Every African country has smelly shiiit. |

agaugust: 1. Citation needed 2. If you wish to claim you have it, then provide citations 3. No major corruption has been proven in the arms deal after multiple investigations from multiple agencies. With regards to your other claims: - gripen is the most advanced and capable fighter in sub-sharan africa. It is also the cheapest to operate amongst other fighters of its generation. No one had to bribe us to buy the best product available to us - Valour Class is the most advanced Frigate in Sub-Saharan Africa. It uses the same combat suite as the French Lafeytte Frigates (built at the same time), The French Flagship the Nuclear-Carrier Charles de Gaulle and the Saudi Flagship. i doubt the Combat suite is obsolete if the Mighty French navy chose it for the Vessels they were building at the same time, as well as their flagship and the CASH FLUSH Saudis purchased for their flagship -- The RCS of the gun is largely irrelevant and we used it as a cost saving technique . What is more important is that the Vlaour Class has 30 VLS tubes, can be fitted with a further (up to 16) BRAhMOS or RB15's or Exocets (thats a total of 46 missiles which puts it destroyer territory), has water jet propulsion and facilities for Drones and UMV's as well as proven Stealth capabilities Frankly, Nigeria would be extatic to have either the Gripen or Valour Class in their inventories 4. In this regard we do not live in a Glass house, as o significant corruption has ever been proven AND we can prove everything we claim to have in our arsenal. 1 Like |

gottfried21: The violent disaster we have now in Burundi is the result of SANDF military operation failure when they intervened in Burundi few years ago. AU should just find a track record experienced battle tested and success proven Kenyan, Angolan, Ugandan, Tanzanian, or Zimbabwean army general commander to lead the new AU force in Burundi, SAAF can support mission with 3 Rooivalks and 18 armed Oryx Transport helicopters. Africa needs capable hands not just those hunting for national glory or pride via intervention forces, hundreds of thousands of civilian lives are at stake in African conflict zones today. Let's put sentiments aside and save our innocent civilian black brothers and sisters from untimely death . |

patches689: Your Gripens are better than SU - 30 I guess The fact that your people try to cover your corrupt practices doesn't mean you are a saint. Agaugust is right, you live in a glass house so you must not throw stones. Finally, please stop comparing yourself with France and other world powers. You are not in that class and to be sincere with you, Algeria's meko 200 is way better and better equipped than yours. 5 Likes 1 Share |

patches689: 1. SAAB admitted in 2011 that it bribed South African leaders and officers to buy Gripen jet, Sweden was desperate to sell after 10 years of struggle and failure to get a Gripen export customer, they needed to desperately use South Africa to break the jinx, so they bribed ANC and SAAF. They can later deny it today, all because the investigation was corrupted by South African government ANC offcials in power who did not want to go to jail for corruption. Most thieves in this world will deny stealing if they can escape judgement. 2. "Swedish defence group Saab on Thursday admitted that millions were paid to clinch a South African contract for fighter jets but said its erstwhile British partner BAE Systems had paid the bribes. Saab said R24-million had been paid by BAE in the form of bonuses and salaries between 2003 and 2005 for the deal involving 26 JAS Gripen fighters. The comments came after Sweden’s TV4 television channel said it had evidence Saab had promised to pay Fana Hlongwane, then advisor to the South African defence minister and also serving as a consultant to the Swedish firm, millions of euros in bonuses if Pretoria did not back out of the Gripen deal." http://mg.co.za/article/2011-06-16-saab-admits-r24million-bribe-paid-to-clinch-arms-deal 3. South Africa's corrupt ANC government covers up and crush all defence industry corruption cases. Let European Union investigate, and like FIFA bribery for World Cup 2010 South Africa, the truth will come out. France has some obsolete equipment that needs upgrade, La Fayette Frigate old combat suite is obsolete almost 30 years ago old technology, the world has moved ahead. SANDF Navy is free to buy obsolete 30 year old French equipment if South Africa likes it that way. Gripen is NOT the most advanced jet fighter in Sub-Saharan Africa with no IRST at all, plus it's now obsolete 20 year old Pulse Doppler Mechanical Scan Radar. Fine photos posted all over the internet does not give you the most advanced jet fighter, beautiful airframes/body don't make a combat jet the best fighter. The most advanced jet fighter in Sub-Saharan Africa is Su-30 MK Flanker jets of Uganda with IRST and Passive Electronic Scan Array Radar. 4. Yes you live in a South African glass house, so don't throw stones at other African countries. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

patches689: I think it's a waste of time replying to an internet warrior who spouts these inanities about artillery: Real life war is NOT a video game. How do you do fire correction, can you see 73 km inside your enemy's territory? How do you even tie down the enemy constantly to same spot 73 km away, is the opposing army a foolish sitting duck ? 2 Likes |

iblawi:Yes the Gripen is better than the Su 30. And Algerias meko 200 is exactly the same as our Valour, except that they carry 16 anti ship missile were our Valours carry 8 with the option of carrying 16. They also have the same combat suit and both use the Umkhonto SAM. |

agaugust: O god Must you allways be so bitter? Whay is up with your obsession with RSA? We were not the only peacekeepers there and our mission ended a decade ago To accure any blame to us is a wild stretch And FYI, we are the only SADAC member who can rapidly deploy forces at this time - that being ACRIC So yes, lets put (your anti south african) sentiments aside |
Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by patches689: 4:11pm On Dec 24, 2015 |
iblawi: 1. Yes it is 2. Multiple investigations by multiple agencies have uncovered no major corruption 3. If the combat suites are good enough for those world powers they are good enough for us. 3a. So what? Why had a different vission and strategry with the aquisition of our Valour Class -we can upgrade them to Algerian specs (or beyond) if we have a threat profile that requires it. |

Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by patches689: 4:20pm On Dec 24, 2015 |
agaugust: 1. Those are unsubstantiaed claims, no major corruption has ever been proven 1a. The gripen was the best fighter on the market at that time 2. Again, allegations that have never been proven despite multiple enquires in RSA, Sweden, Germany and France 3. Lafayette Frigates were built in the 1990's, same time as the Valour Class - meaning that when they were purchased it was the most advanced system available. Saudi Frigate was purchasd in the 2000's. And the Lafayette remains frances fronteline frigate And furthermore - it remains the most powerfull and advanced Frigate in Sub-saharan africa 4. Simulations posted by African Defence reveiew show the Gripen to be superior, IRST is not the be all and end of evaluating the quality of a jet 5. We dont live in a glass house, last i checked we dont have our former defence minister being held for 30 odd million dollars worth of missing money |

The other AN-26 is parked inside a hanger so I haven't really seen it...Oh and about the three F-7's that were damaged in the hanger collapse...The Air Force still hasn't released a statement so my guess is that they don't plan on doing so |
