December 25 was a compromise date set aside by Emperor Constantine. This date was originally set aside for pagan worship of one of their gods. However in the course of spread of the gospel, paganism became increasingly unpopular and lot of people converted to Christianity. In order to maintain his relevance and continued observance of the date 25thDec, Constantine himself having converted to Christianity, decided to change, the date from day of observance of a god to something that could also be adopted by Christians,hence25th set aside as the day for observance of the birth of Christ. However, nothing wrong in remembering that Christ was born. Also note that the only events the bible says remember are the Sabbath and holy communion."remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy" and ..."do this in remembrance of me.." 1 Like |

linusbnn:the people of old that celebrated their birthdays were pagans. No follower of the true God did such. Christ is not the reason you are celebrating christmas cos he never ordered such. Was he the one that formulated father christmas, the xmas trees, the disco lights, the drinks, the carols, bangers etc? Did any of his disciples and the early church fathers who knew him face to face celebrate such? Heaven can't rejoice with you concerning what the owner of heaven never ordained. Christ only told us to remember him using the lord's supper, not some pagan birthday. |

Though there is no point arguing the date Jesus was born but let me say this that your argument was wrong due that no one has actually accertain the date of christ birth even biblical account didn't give us an actual date and that is one of the mysteries surrounding the birth of the Messiah Matthew says a LITTLE CHILD, not a newborn or an infant, was with Mary when the Magi paid their visit. Jesus could have been up to TWO YEARS OLD when people from "the east" came to see him (see Matthew 2:16). Verse 11 of Matthew 2 also answers two other questions. It says the visit occurred in a HOUSE, not at a temporary structure like a stable. At close to two years old not only was Jesus too big to sleep in a manger but also he was living in a permanent dwelling that afforded the family better sleeping accommodations. Note also the verse does NOT mention Joseph being present when the wise men came to the house.; The birth of Jesus might have been in January, February, March, August, September, November or December the fact still remain Jesus is lord the Messiah of the whole world and he is the reason for the season ***Merry Christmas*** |

The birth date of Jesus is unknown and as thus, can be celebrated any day as long as the purpose of such event is known. Is really stale arguing about the real birth date of Jesus, and springing forth such a controversial issue in an attempt to plant disbelief in the heart of individuals especially in this season isn't funny at all. I pray that God will help us all. HAPPY CHRISTMAS |

missKiffy: Yes for a part.. And shouldn't be celebrated at all. What really happen on birthdays? Rise in premarital sex, drugs, preg here nd there. Does that really gladens God's heart?. Even from time old birthdays never brought anything good like Herod and Pharoah, horrors were committed and today its even worst. |

Amberon:what has passover feast got to do with christmas? He celebrated the passover feast as ordained by God in the old covenant. The moment he died and resurrected, a new covenant began which is the covenant for christians. That's why we don't celebrated passover again cos we dontneed the blood of a lamb at our door post but the blood of the Holy Lamb called christ. |

Re: Was Jesus Born On Christmas Day? by Amberon: 12:02pm On Dec 25, 2015 |
its a question. The passover has every thing to do with this. if Jesus hadn't celebrated the Passover, you'd have also brought that up that question. Like I told you. Christmas isn't a must. people must go by your beliefs. its not a sin to celebrate the birth of the saviour of mankind. bloodyBLOGGER: |

Re: Was Jesus Born On Christmas Day? by Sarang(f): 12:06pm On Dec 25, 2015 |
Amberon: Because after he celebrated the passover with his disciples on Nisan 14. He instituted the remembrance or memorial of his death. He replaced the passover with his remembrance. Why? Because the passover reminds the isrealites of the deed that Jehovah did to save them from egypt. In this celebration, the blood of an unblemished lamb was normally shed. In this regard,Christ was for us the one and only unblemished lamb who took away our sins once and for all times. But it is not popular,I doubt if anyone celebrates his death. Why? Because the World does only what the devil wishes since it is lying in his hands.(1jon 5:19) Hope you understood me. |
Re: Was Jesus Born On Christmas Day? by Nobody: 12:08pm On Dec 25, 2015 |
I accept that date as the birthday of christ, but I believe that day was just chose to commemorate the birth of Christ. I wish y'all a happy celebration and I'm also glad to be born on this day. I'm greatful to my creator for making me see another birthday! |
Re: Was Jesus Born On Christmas Day? by Sarang(f): 12:09pm On Dec 25, 2015 |
miszeno: Actually his death was more important. If Jesus choosed not to die after been born mankind will not be saved. This is in accordance with what the book of ecl said, the day of one's DEATH is better than the day of birth... Jesus even said"Keep doing this in remembrance of me.. |
Re: Was Jesus Born On Christmas Day? by adelujohn(m): 12:15pm On Dec 25, 2015 |
Whether Sept or Dec, Jesus is born hallelujah. That's all that matters. Same way people argue on whether Sabbath is on Saturday or Sunday? Just worship God from your heart: whether Tuesday or Friday. |
Re: Was Jesus Born On Christmas Day? by Originalsly: 12:15pm On Dec 25, 2015 |
ClassCaptain:Really?...if Dec 25 was chosen as his birthday. ..why isn't there just celebration on that day only?.... as it is on his crucifixion date... Good Friday? Why the 12 days of Christmas? Purpose?....This time of the year was celebration season for pagans... and the Christians created a birth date and celebrations for Jesus called Christmas as a cover to not miss out in the pagan celebrations. That is the real purpose of Christmas. |
Re: Was Jesus Born On Christmas Day? by Sarang(f): 12:18pm On Dec 25, 2015 |
Originalsly: I believe they know that too.. Just that, they don't want to accept it. People really like being in the crowd and no one wishes to be left out. But in this regard,we should be considerate towards God himself. He must feel pained to see the world this way..still he's willing to let you choose your own way. |

Happy to have read some of the comments through Something that has made Christianity such a religion easily manipulated is the verses ascribed to Jesus to have said that anything his disciples wants to do, they should and the heaven will join them in it! isn't it awkward? Jesus wasn't born on 25th of December but they are pleased to choose a date of birth for who they claim is the Son of God or God himself? is it that ordinary? and more awkwardly, it has a pagan origin! to celebrate who they claim to be God? Almost every things practised in Christianity has no link to Jesus, but they claim it was done by some ordinary disciples and so it's Godly!! Christianity Church Sunday worship Bible itself Christmas None could be 'directly' linked to Jesus unless they find excuses here and there. Are we really that careless about how we worship who we claim to be God? When mostly the religion is designed by ordinary humans May God brighten our eyes n lead us right. |
