The truth is that the muslims in this story are exceptional muslims. They chose decency over their own religion which tells them to despise and hate Christians. The koran even says that Christians are unbelievers:

koran 5:72 - "Unbelievers are those that say:'God is the Messiah, the son of Mary." and

koran 5:73 - "Unbelievers are those that say: 'God is one of three.'"
