Dirty and Nonsense House Officer. Just tell us you didn't know how to stabilise the patient instead of seeking a means to justify your ineptitude, hide your head in Shame. You're responsible for the death of that girl. 20 Likes 1 Share |

@Op What's the worse the system would have done if you had attended to the patient without pay. Kindly answer this, I really need to learn. I am not in the medical field, but I understand 'Situations'. 8 Likes |

cosmatika: You are such an idiot to assert that! What he is saying is true. An accident victim came, you could not even at least do the following: -Secure IV access, since they may be loosing blood. -Take blood for urgent PCV, grouping and cross-matching for any emergency transfusion that the critical ones you triaged may need. -At least examine the patient as a whole, look out for areas of injury, palpate the abdomen and make sure there is no guarding that could suggest internal organ rupture like the spleen. -Provide pain relief etc etc. -Did they not teach you the ABC of rescusitation? You don't know that A starts for A- Airway B-Breathing C- Cardiac function D - Drugs E - Examination (Quick) - How stupiid are you that critical patients would be brought to your center (Accident and Emergency), and the first thing you are saying is for them to be referred? Is your work place a Babalawo center that you have to refer them at just sighting them? Won't you make sure that they are in stable condition first. -You are stupidly calling on the government - to do what? Are they doctors? Do they know how to rescucitate patients? you foolishly called your lazy asss medical officer...what do you expect... Infact, if I am Seun and moderators, I would ban you from Nairaland! -You are a house officer for goodness sake, the first on call, you ought to have stabilized the patients before calling anyone. -You should be ashamed to call yourself a doctor. If anything you and the hospital should be sued and made to repeat your housemanship! Nonsense! -CramJones 83 Likes 12 Shares |

So pathetic. Being a Doctor is more of a calling than a profession. Op as much as you showed emphaty for the victims, you could have done better. Sincerely the sanctity of human lives is so paramount and irreplaceable. Please next time just try your best to save that life....no matter the bottleneck. God bless! 5 Likes |

If I were u I would ve gone against the hospital policy and treat them since is now question of life and death. You prefer to save your job than saving life? I hardly see a doctor looking for job so why did you allow some to die when u could ve done something and clear ur conscience. Now you re a murderer including ur seniors. Tell me the name of that ur hospital so that all of you will. Be sacked and replaced with God fearing beings 12 Likes |

If there is a hell, I think the hottest part of hell is reserved for medical professionals who go against their oath to save lives, for the lure of filthy lucre. @OP: If you feel that you are not allowed to uphold your Hippocratic oath where you work, you should resign. Doctors are in high demand, you studied medicine to save lives. As sad as it is, the OP is simply a reflection of medical practice in Nigeria. This is the same country where Doctors collect money from medical reps to prescribe their products, even if the products prescribed are at the detriment of patients. Why would patients have to pay before they receive treatment at A and E? Shocking. 14 Likes |

Being a house officer is not an excuse for not even giving first aid or siting an iv line or doing anything at all to help the RTA victims. What I just see is a doc that just didn't know what to do? U didn't even try stabilizing patients before calling the SR. U shld jst stfu n its even so annoying that u brought ur unprofessional n annoying conduct here expecting pity or what? N:B- I am a doc too n I did my house job ten years ago and during my time we were too eager to learn n seeing trauma cases used to be an opportunity for us to learn n nobody waits for the SR unless u ve tried n can see the case is beyond you. Stop spending all your time on social media n lose the fear n start treating patients n saving lives. Where you presently are I'm sure the nurses no fit strict pass those wey uch 35 Likes 1 Share |

cosmatika:But you did nothing You stood there and let her die How are you better than the snr colleague who told you to stand down? Have you not heard that all it takes for evil to prevail is for "good" people to do nothing? If you had attended to the dying lady, would you madam have killed you? You just stood there and let her die. When the family came did you tell them this story? Of how you watched her die cos she was in a coma and couldn't walk to the atm to draw money so yo could treat her? You are part/a product of a failed system. If all doctors took responsibility and stopped ranting like you are doing now blaming someone else, Nigeria would be a better place. No wonder some moronic misguided fool sitting in the gulag has the temerity to call the place a zoo. 24 Likes 1 Share |

cosmatika: You are a hypocrite. You started with a rhetoric that you are a doctor to save lives and yet you blatantly refused to act on your life-goal when the opportunity came, just because you are afraid to be sacked, queried or suspended. You could have gone ahead to SAVE that life regardless of whose ox is gored... then you can come and face the consequences. Even if you loose your job, there would be fulfilment. But no, opposite is the case... you love the job/salary more than your life purpose. Why are you rushing out to buy recharge cards and make calls when there is an emergency? That's lackadaisical. There are several admin and support staff that could do that. Quit blaming the government for this particular incident, the girl's blood is on your head. If you really want to save lives, please join a medical NGO such as Red Cross. Mtscheew 24 Likes 3 Shares |

cosmatika:My brother you're not a zombie at all though some people have chosen to work like zombie in this life. You got orders , but between orders and doing that which is right at that very moment which one mattered to you as a man with conscience and empathy for fellow humans which was more important ? Because a little stabilization of the victims would have saved lives but you cowardly left them to die blaming it on orders and Government policies. 11 Likes 1 Share |

cosmatika: I sympathize with you and the predicament in which you found yourself. But honestly you could have gone ahead to treat the patient and expose the the Dr that told you not to treat any patient until they paid. As a doctor you know your first duty to save lives. In this regard you and the senior colleague have failed and therefore contributed to the death of the young lady. I am sorry if I sound harsh it's just the way I see it. 2 Likes |

Weighty! I don't envy the load you are carrying. Unfortunately, while I understand that you couldn't have gone against orders, I also think you could have done something, perhaps not even using equipment but something that would have made the victims more comfortable even in their discomfort knowing how they pack these victims haphazardly. This is where I have a problem with doctors; you know how the system works...what have you done to make it better. Yes, your salary and work conditions are poor as compared to most countries but what have you done for the ones you took an oath for? It isn't just enough to go to work and see as many patients as possible; you should fight for the patients as well. If I wrote a public letter addressing the president on the challenges of the health sector, I would write as a layman that I am not fully informed or aware of certain cirucumstances but imagine the difference if a doctor was to write! What should be done about accident victims? Are there certain hospitals that should be funded by the government to care for accident victims so that even if they end up not paying, the hospital isn't carrying the financial strain? Should there be signposts at hospitals directing a driver of the nearest emergency centre or recommended hospitals for accident victims, since not all hospitals can care for accident victims? If nothing can be done for a victim, to what degree should such a person be made comfortable? These questions and more are what doctors of whatever specialty need to consider even if it means interacting with the public. We cannot continue with such a dysfunctional system. 3 Likes |
